Prelude to Destiny
Psy Blade

---

A caped figure stood at a sheer cliff around six thirty in the morning.

"He should be here any minute," stated the figure as he shifted his Pikachu from one shoulder to the next.

Just then, a large explosion rocked the earth, and dust covered a darkened area that was probably a hole.

"Here we go again," stated the character with the Pikachu.

"Here comes trouble! I'll make you rubble! So you might as well give up, and we'll have a cup! Of tea, that is! Or I could collect the bounty, and inform your county! That you're dead, of course!" yelled a voice coming from the hole, as a stage with giant speakers and flashy lights rose from the ground.

"You're stupid motto is so lame, even a slowpoke could come up with a better one," sneered the person.

"Huh?" James replied, dumbfounded.

He couldn't believe someone thought his intro was lame. He is, after all, the most feared bounty hunter on the planet.

"Well, well, well, looks like I found Ash and his pet rat!" Replied James.

"So, what happened to Jessie? Oh, that's right. I killed her after you and that witch killed my mother!" spat Ash.

"Hey! H-how dare you! Who do you think you're talking to?"

"The 'World's greatest bounty hunter'. Who else would be dumb enough to attack me?" spoke Ash, mockingly.

"What are you talking about? Last I heard Giovanni spared your life after he defeated you, but left you to die in the collapsing Team Aero Headquarters. Unfortunately, though, he fell through a hole and died from the flames!" James retorted.

"You think he defeated me? Ha! Did you ever wonder why they found him with slashes, even though there were no sharp objects where they found him? I used that story to cover up what really happened! Only one other person knew, and she happens to be dead, along with her partner. Well maybe I should show you why!"

After he said that, Ash pulled out a longsword from a sheath hidden by his black cape.

"You think a sword will scare me?" spoke James, getting his sense back.

"This isn't any sword. This is the Destiny Blade!"

"There's no way in hell you could have obtained that! You're just a big faker!"

"Ah, but it is! Notice these gems placed on the end of the hilt! Only one sword has all these colored gems, and it can't be copied since the gems are one of a kind!"

"Then prove it!" challenged James.

Ash just grinned, and closed his eyes, the blade igniting into an inferno.

Then the blade took on a greenish tint, and acidic poison dropped off, falling onto the ground. The acid eating away at the soil.

Ash was concentrating even harder now, and as the finale, electric sparks started to dance around it.

James was awestruck, but remembered one thing, "What about the psychic element it possesses from the legends!"

Ash grimaced, then threw the sword into the air, turning it into a purplish-blue psychic energy blade, which taxed Ash the most to use.

"So, I guess it's time we joined forces again, James," Ash stated calmly.

"Huh? What do you mean? Join forces, again? We've never been on the same side..." James started to say but was cut off as Ash was using his psychic powers to probe James' soul and release the memory of his past lives.

"Now you know what I mean."

James remembered it all now. The adventures, the violence, and through it all, he had his friends.

---

After Ash had recruited James, they both went to HQ to meet the rest of the team.

"Ash!" screamed Misty as Ash walked into the building.

"Hi, Misty. You guys ready to take out the Pokémon Emperor?" inquired Ash.

"Everyone but Brock is ready. Brock's been practicing his swordsmanship since he's not very good at it, and you'll need all our help," stated Misty, picking up her bags.

"Okay. Give him three more hours, then we'll move out."

Ash then walked over to the sofa next to the radio and sat down, Misty sitting next to him.

(Fast Forward)

"Damn it! That vile beast killed Brock!" screamed an enraged Ash, before quickly calming down. If he wanted to help his friends, he needed to concentrate on breaking the seal to the dark and empty dimension he and Pikachu were in.

---

Misty knew they wouldn't last long. She was about to give up after Brock was impaled in the gut and fell over, dead. Then she heard Ash telling her to hang on, telepathically. She was so relieved that he hadn't disappeared from her life forever after Gigamew sealed him and Pikachu in that other dimension that when she heard his telepathic voice, she got strength from knowing her love was still alive

"Ha ha! You think you can beat me? Your so-called 'hero' can't save you now! Ha ha ha!" squealed a sadistic looking Mew, called Gigamew.

Gigamew was a seven-foot tall orange mew with a large tail and three balled hands and feet. He wore black armor, which gave him the power of all the different Pokémon types. The armor, which is fused with his body, is impenetrable to all weapons and attacks except an attack from the Destiny Blade.

"That's another thing your wrong on, Gigamew!" yelled Ash from behind Gigamew as he brought the sword down, slicing the back of Gigamew's armor, and Gigamew for that matter, making orange blood ooze from the three foot long cut.

Gigamew screamed in pain as this attack did its damage, severely weakening him, but managed to counter-attack with a Shadow Ball attack. Ash easily dodged the attack, then slashed at Gigamew, but missed, for Gigamew had teleported away. He warped in front of Misty, and was so absorbed in the battle with Ash that he forgot about her and James. Misty immediately stabbed him where Ash had cut him, distracting him long enough for Ash to slash his face, fatally wounding him.

Gigamew knew he was doomed, he could feel himself dying, so he powered up for a huge explosion attack.

"Run!" yelled James as he grabbed Misty and started out of the tower.

"Ash!" shrieked Misty as she tried to get free.

"You'll only get in his way!" pleaded a struggling James.

Misty finally agreed and they ran outside, then continued a good fifty yards from the tower.

After they stopped and turned around, they saw a psychic barrier form around the tower and James could only guess what Ash was doing.

---

As Gigamew lay there dieing, building up psychic energy, Ash did the same, but instead of an attack, he formed a barrier, and was planning on sacrificing himself to negate the attack.

"You... may... have defeated me... but you'll... never stop this… attack!"

Gigamew had finally built up enough psychic power to use an explosion attack that would have destroyed the world. Luckily for the world, Ash had the psychic power of his supporting Pokémon that were killed by Gigamew, so he could negate the supreme assault. When Gigamew self-destructed, the explosion's power shattered the Destiny Blade in two. This power also created four more power gems. The explosion knocked all of the eight jewels through the psychic barrier that Ash had constructed, due to the fact that Ash was already dead, and into different parts of the island. When the sword shattered, both pieces went flying, one to what would soon be called the Silver Mountain range, and the other to Mount Moon.

Unbeknownst to Ash and everybody but Pikachu who Ash shielded from the explosion, the energy from the four gems that were created separated Gigamew's mind from his body. The energy then made his body glow in a blinding white light, the light of evolution.

---

When Misty saw the barrier appear, she knew what Ash was doing, he was sacrificing himself to save the world. This made her run to the barrier and start attacking it in hope of getting through and saving him. She tried as hard as she could, but Ash's psychic powers were too great for her.

The tower exploded in a gigantic fireball that burnt down whatever wasn't destroyed in the blast.

Misty did not know for sure if he was dead, but she had a feeling he was.

When the dust settled, nothing was left except Pikachu, and a tablet, from the gods.

Misty ran up to the tablet as Pikachu scurried off to train for the next time they met, and she picked up the tablet, beginning to read it.

When the evil being that has tortured all is reborn, this creature will once again regain control. For the Chosen One to defeat him, he must become more powerful than before. But he will not be able to defeat it alone, and will have to enlist some help from his dear companion, plus his powerful partner. With the powers of love, courage, and wisdom, he will attain the level needed to save the world. If this does not take place before he reaches adulthood, all will be doomed, because he will not remember his past lives and will be unable to help the world.

Misty fell down, crying, while James just watched.

She wanted to be with him always, but she could not until their adventures had come to a close, and that would not happen until all the evil in the world was eradicated, so she did the only thing she could think of at the time to ease her pain, suicide.

After Misty fell down, lifeless; James slowly began to walk to the middle of the debris. When he got there, he picked up the tablet and set it on a rock that was conveniently in the form of an altar.

After many months, he was able to build a mausoleum around it, and put a grave marker where Ash had been disintegrated by Gigamew's devastating attack.

Then he quickly fashioned a sign out of a tree and wrote, 'Pallet Town: Shades of your journey await. And where the ultimate evil broods.'
