Ban of friends chapter 7

“Misty, sweety. Please let me in. I want to know what’s wrong”

“Nothing is wrong” Misty sobbed.

“Don’t lie, Ash told me you were in here crying”

“He should mind his own business” Misty spat at the closed door.

“Misty, he’s worried about you, as much as I’m worried about you” Delia said, hoping that would get her to open the door. She fell silent, trying to hear if Misty was making any movement towards the door.

“Misty” she whispered once more.

The sound of an unlocking door was heard and a teary-eyed Misty opened the door.

“Can I come in?”

Misty nodded, motioning her to come in to the room.

She ran her fingers threw her hair and closed the door.

“Okay what happened” Delia let out, sitting on her bed, clutching a brown bag.

Misty looked angrily at the ground and then back at Delia.

“It’s as if he’s got something against me” Misty started.

“All those mean stuff he says to me…it really hurts”

“O, dear…you shouldn’t take Gary too seriously. He’s had a ruff time this year. His parents leaving him and all…”

“I really didn’t mean what I said at lunch….I was just angry” Misty sobbed.

“Why don’t you tell him that” Delia asked.

“Like he would listen to me…he hates me too much”

“I think he would appreciate it Misty…just try, okay”

Misty shrugged, wiping away a tear.

“ The professor and I decided to have a movie night…just the five of us. It would be the perfect opportunity for you and the guys to catch up on things”

“No thanks” Misty muttered. “It would just be another opportunity for Gary to tell me how incredibly ugly I am”

“Misty, do you think you’re ugly? “

She didn’t answer.

“Cause I don’t. And I don’t believe that you need dark makeup to hide your beauty.

Right now without makeup…you are the most precious girl I’ve ever seen.” Delia said, smiling.

Misty returned her smile, with a tiny giggle.

“I know you like your dark clothes and all, but if you happened to want to wear something else for the movie night…I brought you this summer dress.”

She opened the bag she had brought inside with her and took out a sleeveless white dress.

Misty shrugged and didn’t even look at the dress.

“It’s okay you don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to” said Delia standing up. “Just come downstairs around 8 pm., we’re ordering pizza” she chirped.

“Sure Mrs. Ketchum” Misty replied, watching her open the door and walk out of the room.

Misty closed the door behind her and looked back at the white cotton dress lying on her bed.

She sighed and looked at the wall clock.

“6 Pm.” She muttered, looking back at the dress. She picked it up and admired it for a while. She had to admit it was beautiful. She looked in the mirror next to her bed and held the dress in front of her.

“This hair just won’t do,” she whispered, referring to the black streaks in her red hair.

“Thank god it’s not permanent,” she muttered, taking her shampoo out of her bag.

2 hours later in the living room.

“What are we watching” Gary asked annoyed. He sat on the couch, wearing a dark blue pair of jeans and a white sweater and looked as pale as ever.

“The Ring” Ash muttered opening the DVD case.

“What, did Misty pick it out?” Gary chuckled.

“Gary, if you tease Misty tonight…there will be no pizza for you” said professor Oak coming out of the kitchen with three glasses of cola.

“Yeah right…just few hours ago you said I won’t be having dinner if I didn’t apologize to her…o, o here I am” he stated sarcastically.

“Where is the little runt anyway?”

Gary watched Ash sit on a chair nearby.

“Are you two wearing matching outfits tonight” he asked, referring to Ash’s black clothes.

“Shut up, Gary” Ash muttered.

“Okay, there are chips on top of the microwave, the money for the pizzas is on the table”

Ash and Gary looked up at Delia and the professor.

“Where are you two going…I thought we were having a movie night?” asked Ash, looking at his mother in a formal dress.

“Change of plans sweety…the professor just got a call and he has to give a speech at the opening of a new research facility”

“Don’t worry Ash, I’ll pick up your pokemon from the pokemon center” said the professor sarcastically, shaking his head miserably at him. He couldn’t believe Ash was treating his pokemon that way and especially pikachu.

“Okay” Ash muttered feeling guilty.

“O, come on gramps…you can’t leave me alone with these freaks”

Ash scowled at Gary.

“Where’s Misty?”asked Delia, just noticing Misty wasn’t there. “Hope she didn’t forget”

“I’m here” came a tiny voice from the stairway.

Misty walked off the last stair and looked at her fingers.

“O, Misty…sweety…you look wonderful”said Delia.

“Yes, quite the lady” added the professor.

Ash and Gary turned around to look at Misty.

Ash’s jaw dropped.

She looked gorgeous. Her hair was thick and she wore it down. It had soft waves in it and it had no black streaks in it anymore. She wore a white sleeveless dress that hugged all the right curves of her body, making her look like a model.

And her face was that of an angel, at least in Ash’s opinion.

Gary looked at her and gulped. She wasn’t looking at him though. Her gaze immediately went to Ash’s face to see if he liked the way she looked and she was very happy with his reaction indeed. He smiled brightly at her and mouthed a “Wow”.

Gary scowled at the sight of this and tutted jealously.

“So are you guys going to be okay” Delia chuckled, looking at her awestruck son.

“Mmm” Ash muttered, not taking his eyes off of the beauty in front of him.

“What aren’t you guys staying” Misty asked, looking at Delia.

“No sweety…something came up. Don’t worry you’ll have a great time”

Misty nodded nervously.

“Okay and Gary…be nice,” said the professor.

He glared at his grandfather for treating him like a little kid in front of Misty

Misty looked at Gary and giggled at his expression. This made him blush lightly.

The professor and Delia walked in to the hallway, grinning at each other.

“This should be interesting” the professor muttered, opening the door for Delia.

There was an awkward silence in the living room. Gary and Ash stared at Misty not knowing what to say.

“You can sit down if you want,” said Gary scooting over on the couch.

Misty took his proposal and sat down beside him.

Gary bit on his lip and looked at her.

“You guys want to order the pizzas, right now?” asked Ash.

“Sure” said Misty and Gary in unison.

“Why don’t you go order Ashy-boy” added Gary.

“I don’t remember the phone number” said Ash, not wanting to leave Gary alone with Misty.

“Look it up in the phone book”

Misty looked confusedly between the two scowling guys.

“Fine” Ash muttered, standing up and leaving for the kitchen.

Misty and Gary looked at each other once they were alone.

“So, aren’t your people going to get mad…if they see you like this?”

“Ugh” she let out.

“Oh no…”Gary started. “I didn’t mean anything by it…I was just wondering…you are a goth, right?”

“No…I’m not” Misty replied.

“Really? If you’re not a goth then why don’t you pray? And why do you wear black all the time?”

“I just don’t see why I have to worship someone who keeps wrecking my life and as far as the black clothes go…I just like black,” she muttered emotionally.

“O”

Misty looked like she was going to cry.

“It makes me really happy” he said suddenly.

“What that I’m miserable” she stated, looking at him.

“No, that you’re not a goth”

“Why?” Misty asked, looking at him in shock.

“Uhm…I don’t know…”Gary stuttered, looking embarrassedly to the ground.

Misty smiled, as she watched him blush.

“Don’t look at me like that” Gary chuckled, blushing even more as he felt her watching him.

“Wow, is this the same Gary from a few hours ago” Misty giggled.

“Please” he said, trying to sound mean, but failing miserably.

“You know what I think it is?” Misty whispered, smiling slyly.

She scooted closer to Gary and whispered softly in to his ear: “I think you like me”
