Ban of friends chapter 9
“1.00PM.” Misty muttered as she looked at her alarm clock.
She had tried hopelessly to fall a sleep, but just couldn’t. It wasn’t only because she was in a strange environment, but because of the strange events that had occurred the day before.
And the fact that Professor Oak had had a rather loud conversation with Gary and Ash just an hour before wasn’t helping.
Ash had told him how their movie night had failed and had blamed Gary, making Gary furiously curse at him.
“If you can’t get along with each other. I’m going to make you get along. As of tomorrow you and by you I mean you guys and Misty, are going to do everything together…you are going out together, you’re doing your chores together, you are even sleeping in the same room” the professor had then said, making Gary hiss furiously.
Misty had felt rather ill when hearing this. The thought of spending every waking minute with two guys, that made her cry constantly was just nauseating.
There was a tap on her door, interrupting her thoughts.
“Who can that be” she muttered, getting up, turning on her lamp and walking to the door.
She opened it to find Ash gazing at her. He had his dark blue pajamas on and grinned sheepishly.
“Hey” he whispered gently.
She didn’t answer him and looked at the ground nervously.
“Pikachupi!!!” (Misty)
The fury, yellow pokemon jumped out from behind Ash and in to her arms.
“Pikachu!!” she exclaimed cuddling it. Pikachu nudged her chin with it’s nose, purring lightly.
“I thought you might want to greet him…good thing you weren’t a sleep…uhm you weren’t a sleep, right,” Ash muttered, scratching the back of his head.
She nodded not looking him in the eye.
“So guess, that’s all I wanted to say…. come on Pikachu”
“Pi, pikachu pika chu kapi chupi ka pikachu, pikachu” (No, I want to sleep next to her tonight)
“No, Misty doesn’t want you here,” he said, almost screaming.
Misty was shocked by his reaction; she had never seen him talk to pikachu like that.
“No, it’s okay…he can stay”
“O, okay”
He calmed down immediately and smiled forcefully at her.
“I guess, I’ll just leave then”
He walked towards the door, balling up his fists and muttering furiously to himself
“Uhm, Ash?”
“Yeah?” he asked stopping dead in his tracks, but not turning around.
“There’s another reason you came in here isn’t there?”
He turned around to look at the beautiful girl with his pikachu in her arms.
“Mist, can we talk?”
“About what?”
“About everything…the conversation about Brock, the movie night…I can’t help but feel there is still some tension between us”
“Why would you think that…I mean we sorted everything out yesterday” she replied.
Pikachu lifted it’s ears attentively, so it could not miss any details of the conversation.
“Okay, then why do you still act this way around me”
“What way?”
“You get all hot and bothered around me. You barely look at me”
“I don’t wanna talk about this right now” she started, placing pikachu on the bed.
“Why not? You said you needed me remember!”
“Well I lied”
Ash looked infuriated and sad at the same time.
Pikachu looked between the former best friends, shock written all over it’s face.
“That’s not true, that’s not true and don’t you dare say it is”
“Get out” Misty whispered dangerously.
“No” he replied determinately.
“Get out!!”
She walked over to him and slapped him across the face.
“Get out, get out, get out”
“No”
She slapped him again.
“We are talking about this right now” he said touching his cheek.
“I don’t want to…can’t you leave me alone!!”
“No, cause unlike you…I won’t take back what I said”
She fell silent looking at his chest.
“I need you, Mist” he whispered. “I want things to be as they were. I want us to be friends again. And it was my…our stupid mistake to stay away from each other for so long”
Pikachu opened and closed it’s mouth like a goldfish.
She turned around to walk away from him.
He followed her and threw her arms around her.
“I’m not letting you go”
“God, can’t you let me be!!”
“No”
“Ugh, you’re the same stubborn jackass as always”
She wrung herself out of his grip and turned around to look at him.
“Like I said I’m not letting you go, just tell me what’s wrong, Mist”
He looked at her with his innocent brown eyes.
“I’m not telling you anything”
“Fine…then I’ll just have to sleep here tonight”
“Whatever floats up your boat” she snapped, flopping down on the bed near Pikachu, who gazed at her and Ash, with a tiny smile.
“Okay then…though I wonder what mom and the professor would think if they see us leaving the same room tomorrow morning. God, I don’t wanna even think what Gary would say”
“Ugh…fine you wanna know why I’m like this around you”
“Yes, please” he stated sarcastically.
“It’s because I’m afraid I’ll get too attached to you”
Ash fell silent, as he watched her aqua blue eyes fill with tears.
“I don’t think I can survive, if another person close to me gets ripped out off my life”
What she said was almost entirely true, but the fact that she had forgotten to mention, was that she was actually falling for him
Pikachu licked her hand sympathetically and gazed up at her.
“You don’t have to be afraid of losing me” he whispered.
“I will always be there for you, I promise”
“You can’t promise that” she sobbed.
“Okay then I promise I’ll try”
He walked over to her sitting down beside her and pikachu.
“I promise” he whispered once more.
It was as if those two words broke a barrier between the two friends. Misty rested her head on Ash’s shoulder, still sobbing furiously, making Pikachu jump out of the way.
“I’m never going to leave you….I promise”
Okay the chapters coming up next are going to be longer. If anyone is wondering what will happen, Ash and Misty are finally going to be friends again. It’s going to be harder to get Gary to “click” with them. Ash and Gary’s feeling for Misty will intensify, as will Misty’s feelings for Ash. But maybe Misty will develop something for Gary as well.
