Come Away With Me

A/N: Here’s a short story by yours truly. It’s AAMRN, of course, because that’s what I do. If you don’t like that fact don’t read it then (duh). For the rest of you…I hope you like it. By the way a special thanks goes out to my friend Rayza16 for helping me with this fic.

Misty looked around at what once was her favorite hang out. It was the only place she could ever relax in her hometown. Back in the day when she used to travel with Ash and Brock they always used to stop by the wooden pier every time they visited Cerulean. They would scrape up the last few pennies they had and ride the old Ferris wheel, all day if they could. And now the only thing left of the pier was black- tinted wood. The huge fire had destroyed almost everything. Not sure how safe the pier was, she carefully made her way to a half- burnt bench and sat down on it.

The wind blew her long wavy hair slightly messing it up, as she breathed in the sea air that was mixed with the smell of burnt wood.

It seemed like everything was disappearing from her life. About 5 years ago Ash and Brock had left to pursue their own dreams. Not even a year ago two of her sisters had moved out of the gym one to start her family, the other one to build her own gym in the Orange Islands. One by one the things and the people that meant something to her were being taken away from her and she had no say in that.

Misty shrugged slightly and dusted off her torn jeans, then closed her eyes trying to remember the last time she was here.

“How can I forget” she muttered, smiling softly.  It was a few months back when Ash had taken time off to visit her.

Flashback

“Ash can you please sit down. You’re going to fall over if you don’t.” Misty hollered, pulling at her friend’s baggy black shirt.

Ash snickered as Misty pulled him back onto the chair.

“Okay we’re set to go” said Misty beckoning towards the man who was controlling the Ferris wheel.

“Are you sure? He doesn’t look too stable”

“Go ahead” beckoned Misty again.

The guy shrugged and pulled on the lever. The Ferris wheel started spinning slowly and stopped when Ash and Misty’s compartment was on top.

“I’m the king of the world!!” Ash screamed, standing up.

“Ash, would you sit down please!” Misty giggled pulling her friend in the chair. They both giggled softly.

“I can’t help it I’m a wild child, Mist” he snickered.

“Well I’m pretty sure you’re mom wants you home in one piece. So you’re not dying while I’m here”

“Run away with me Mist” he whispered pulling her on top of his lap. She looked in his chocolate brown eyes. “Run away where to, Ash?” she whispered back

.

“Anywhere…to Ochi league or something” he whispered. “You don’t belong here Mist”

“Wow Violet should really watch how much alcohol she puts in her punch” she giggled, running her hand threw his short black mane. She tried to get off of his lap, but he pulled her right back on it.

“Mist…please come with me” he mumbled bringing his nose to her cheek. Misty ran her hand threw her long hair, feeling both nervous and giddy at the same time.

“Ash, I can’t”

“Of course, you can…please?” he muttered.

“I have the gym” she muttered. The Ferris wheel started spinning again, but she was pretty sure that wasn’t the reason she was feeling dizzy.

“Kiss me” he muttered, looking her in the eyes. Before she could answer he pulled her into him and kissed her softly. Misty ran her hands threw his mane as their kiss intensified. Ash pulled her closer to him with his hands on her back. His sweet smelling aftershave was intoxicating to her and she smiled when he ran a finger over her waist.

“Ouch, Ash that’s a lip!” she moaned tearing herself away from him.

“I’m sorry, got a little carried away” he sniggered. They busted out laughing at the same time.

“What are we doing, Mist” he chuckled as Misty removed herself from his lap.

“I don’t know. Making a big mistake I guess” Misty giggled in reply. They looked each other up and down for moment and snickered again

End flashback

Of course Ash and Misty had not said a word about that kissing incident. Not even to each other. They thought that if they’d stay quiet that all was good. Both of them were too afraid to admit that they had feelings for one another. But there wasn’t one moment in both the teenagers’ life in which they had felt more alive.

“Violet told me you would be here” she heard a masculine voice behind her say. She turned around with a smile upon her face, knowing exactly who it was.

“Ash” she whispered, looking at him with a face that showed both glee and sadness.

“Hey” he mouthed back. He made his way towards the bench she was sitting on and stopped behind her. After a long silence, he muttered: “I’m sorry about the pier”

Misty shrugged and turned to look at the ocean. “It was old anyways. It had to go sometime. Besides it finally got you to visit me”

Ash chuckled. “Yeah, I’m sorry. I’m really busy these days.”

“Too busy to visit your best friend?" Come on now Ash.” she whispered.

“I’m here now, right?” he chuckled sitting down beside her and looking into her big green eyes.

“Indeed you are” she muttered, turning away from him.

Ash sighed lightly. “You can’t stay mad at me forever”

“I’m not mad. Why would I be mad? Frankly I wouldn’t care if you’d never show up again” she said avoiding his gaze.

“You’re lying” he chuckled lightly. “You’ve been sitting beside your phone begging for it to ring and reveal me at the other end”

Misty looked up at him and stuttered: “Who….I…no…wait….Violet t-told you that?”

“No, but thanks for proving my point” he said slyly.

Misty rolled her eyes at him and turned her head, smiling.

“Yeah, I missed you too” he grinned.

They sat there in silence looking at the ocean. “So, what have you been up to, Ash?” Misty asked, breaking the silence.

“I’ve been working day and night with my Pokémon, trying to get ready for this tournament in the Ochi Islands

“That’s great.” Misty nodded. “Uhm, does that mean you’ll be gone for a few months again?”

Ash nodded, knowing that this hurt Misty a little; he rested his chin on her shoulder, hoping that that would make her feel better. This made the hair on Misty’s arm stand up slightly and she giggled.

“I’m sorry” he muttered.

“Don’t make me feel guilty for being mad at you” she replied. “You barely ever visit when you’re at home and now that you’ll be miles away…it’s going to be even worst”

“I don’t see you give Brock a hard time” he muttered.

“Whatever”

“Well if you need me that much stop acting so stubborn and just tell me. I’ll ask my mom for an extra sleeping bag and you can come with me”

“Oh please, Ash. We’re not fourteen anymore. I can’t just leave the gym without a care. Unlike you, I have responsibilities now. I got to hold on to the precious little things I’ve got left”

“So I’m not one of those precious things you’ve got left?” he muttered, pouting. He took a hold of her hand and played with her long elegant fingers.

“No” Misty exclaimed, snickering.

Ash let go of her hand, pretending to be shocked.

“Oh come on Ash of course you’re precious too me”

“Not precious enough for you to come with me though” he said with a stern look upon his handsome face.

Misty sighed and turned away from him.

“It’s just I have the gym now. That’s my guarantee for the future” Misty whispered, looking Ash in the eyes. “If I leave it now, it probably won’t be here when I get back. Violet can’t handle it by herself. The two of us handling shows and battles has been hard enough. Can you imagine all that work and only one person to do it? Well if you’re asking me to do that to her, then you’re a bastard of a friend.”

Ash groaned and let his head rest on his arms. “You’re impossible, you know that.” he sighed. “I don’t see why I’m being a bad friend, if I just want the pleasure of your company”

“Go with someone else” she replied. “Go with Tracy. He’d love to go.”

“I don’t want to go with Tracy” he whispered. “I want to go with you”

“Well you can’t…why me?” she threw at his direction.

“Because I have feelings for you” he said aloud looking her straight in the eyes.

“What?” Misty asked looking at him with confusion written on her face.

“I have feelings for you” he whispered, gulping. “Oh shit I have feelings for you”

Ash stood up pacing around and halted after a few minutes. “Oh Gosh I have feelings for you!!!”

Misty giggled and jumped from the bench into his arms.

“I have feelings for you” he muttered again, a smile growing on his boyish face. He burst out laughing and spun Misty around.

“Say you have feelings for me too” he muttered nudging her nose with his.

“I don’t have feelings for you” Misty giggled turning her head away.

“Don’t lie to me” he chuckled, tickling her waist.

“Okay, okay” she snickered. “I have feelings for you too”

Ash pressed his lips on hers.

“Now tell me you’ll come with me” he said tearing away from her.

And without hesitation she replied: “I’ll come with you…”
