CH.3

The elevator door opened up and Ash dragged a blushing Misty out. Misty blinked at what she saw. A large metal door.

Misty tapped Ash’s shoulder. "Um Ash? What is this?"

Ash gave Misty a toothy grin that made her heart soar. "This my dear," Ash said in a goofy voice, "is My room. Grand Master suite of course!"

Ash ignored Misty’s questioning looks and put his had out towards the door. Immediately, a little slot opened up and a square glowing plate popped out, still connected to the door. Ash placed his hand on the plate. A loud "BEEP" was heard and Ash pulled his hand away from the device. Suddenly, to Misty’s surprise, the door opened with a hissing sound and this was what Misty saw.

It looked like she was in a fancy apartment. Leather furniture was all over the apartment. A fireplace stood in the back of the room. A huge TV hung on the wall. There was even a Kitchen! Misty walked into the room like a child walking over to her presents on Christmas morning. Ash just hung back and leaned against the wall smiling smugly.

Slowly, Misty turned around and her eyes met with Ash’s.

Suddenly, Misty gave an extremely high pitched squeal which scared the heck out of Ash.

Misty ran up to Ash and grabbed his hand. "ASH KETCHUM! THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER!!!" She grabbed onto Ash while running around in circles while spouting on about how amazing this was, or how beautiful that is.

Ash yanked his hand free and began to wheel Misty by her shoulders to another room. "Shall I show the lady to the bedroom?" Misty’s face flushed when she realized what those words could have meant.

Misty gasped again when she saw it. It was the biggest bed she had ever seen. The bed must have been the size of her bed-room!

"KYAAAA!" Misty squealed again making Ash hold his ears as if they were going to begin bleeding. Misty immediately began to jump on the bed. "YES! THIS IS GREAT!" After bouncing for a few minutes she lay on the bed looking completely exhausted. Ash just smiled while he watched her slumped form lying on his bed.

Then realization hit Misty. She slowly got up so she was on her knees. She turned around to look at Ash.

"Um Ash? There’s only…one bed."

Ash just gave a goofy grin. "Yeah I know, I know, you don’t wanna share a bed with me cuz were too old for that now." Ash used his fingers as he put an emphasis on the word "old".

"Don’t worry Misty, I’ll sleep on the floor! It’s fine! I’m used to it anyway…" Misty blushed and looked at the bed sheets. "You know Ash…we could…um…maybe…s-share it?"

Ash’s face looked confused as what Misty was saying dawned on him.

Misty continued. "I-I mean, it is pretty big after all!" Ash face lit up as Misty said this. "Okay Misty!"

Misty smiled as she watched Ash’s face light up. "Y-You know Ash, I really missed you." Ash’s face looked momentarily shocked for a second before answering. "Really Misty? You missed me?" Ash sat down next to Misty. "Misty played with her fingers. "Y-Yeah. I would have given up gym leading for you any day Ash. Just to be able to live through all of those adventures again."

Ash brought his arm around Misty and pulled her closer to him. "Wow Misty. That’s really sweet of you." Misty looked up at Ash, a nervous smile on her face. "You were always my best friend Ash…even if I never admitted it."

Ash smiled broadly at Misty as looked into her aquamarine eyes. For some weird reason he had never really felt before, he really wanted to kiss her. On the lips. Instead her gave her a quick peck on the cheek. Misty’s eyes grew wide in surprise as she felt Ash’s kiss on the cheek. She blushed even more as Ash pulled her even closer to him. Now the sides of their bodies were touching.

Misty hesitated before looking Ash in the eyes. She gave a weak smile. "What’s up with all of this kissing on the cheek Ash?"

Ash’s face held nothing but question. " I don’t know Misty." They didn’t realize it but their faces were moving closer as they talked.

Misty spoke now. "You don’t know?" There faces were getting closer and they still weren’t thinking about it.

Ash gave a quiet reply. "Maybe affection. I-I don’t know."

Misty was now completely caught up in the moment. "W-What sort of a-affection Ash?" They were now mere inches away from each other.

"Maybe it’s l-" Ash realized what they were doing at the last minute. As if they had just come out of trances, they pulled away rapidly, both blushing and blinking repeatedly.

Ash’s watch suddenly began to ring as an alarm went off on it. "Hey Misty I want to show you something." Ash grabbed a still stunned Misty and wheeled her (yet again) out of the room. On the right side of the living room there was a large window. In fact, the whole right wall was a window. He stood behind Misty and wrapped his arms around her waist and put his head on her shoulder. Misty could barely breath. She felt dizzy.

All this contact and non-argumentative periods with Ash were what she had wanted for years. A long time ago she had realized that she had to stop fooling herself.

She liked Ash Ketchum. No that’s a lie. She loved Ash Ketchum.

"Um Misty? You there?" Ash waved his hand in front of her face as if to wake her up. Misty blinked for a few seconds and shook her head. "Sorry Ash. I was just thinking."

"Look Misty." Misty looked out the window and was caught up in awe. They were hundreds of feet off the ground and they were still rising. Hundreds of people on the docks were the size of ants waving and shouting their farewells and good-byes. Ash and Misty stood there and watched for about a half an hour as they rose higher and higher above the sky.

"Wow Ash. That was amazing." As Misty turned away, Ash grabbed her arm.

"Look Misty" Ash said as he rose his hand. Misty looked to where he was pointing and was amazed as the sun appeared.

"Don’t you just love sunsets?"

Misty’s heart was beating rapidly. Stupid Ash. Didn’t he know that sunsets were one of the most romantic times of the day?

In nearly all of her romance novels, the man confessed his love for the girl just as the sunset finishes.

As the sun was dipping lower and lower. Misty held her breath. Her heart was beating rapidly in anticipation. Suddenly, as the last few seconds of the sun were ending, Ash turned to Misty.

"Misty?"

Misty’s heart was beating like crazy. Was this it? She held her breath.

"Wanna go eat dinner?"
