Title: Jetton's Tale Author: Ace Pika Part: Prologue E-mail: coolbovine@hotmail.com Category: Other Trainer (OT) ----------------- Hey all! This is my first fic at the Pokemon tower. I hope you all like it! If you have anything to say, feel free to e-mail me about it. Remember, for those of you who have read this before 2/2/04, MY E-MAIL HAS CHANGED. Enjoy the story! ----------------- DISCLAIMER: I do not own pokemon, nor any of its characters. I do however own this story and many of the characters in it. The only characters I do not own are ones that you may find in the Ruby/Sapphire game (That includes Randall and his Delcatty). ----------------- I ran through the rainy streets of Slateport City, splashing mud all over my shorts. The tropical breeze mingling with the cool, clear rain sent a tingling feeling through my body. Avoiding the hustle and bustle of the city, I had made my way to the beach. I could see my dear old friend Mr. Briney snoozing on the hull of his motorboat. His Wingull, Peeko, glanced up at me with sleepy eyes, then cried out in a shrill voice. Her master awoke with a start. "What in the - Oh, 'allo, Jett'n! What brings ye here this fine mornin', lad?" The old man got up off of the hull and waved. "Remember? I'm going to Littleroot to get a Pokemon. Could you give me a ride?" Ever since a trainer had saved him from Team Magma, Mr. Briney ran a boat transportaion service to and fro from Slateport, Dewford and Petalburg. Of course, it wasn't free, so I handed him 500 pokeyen. "Where to, Jett?" "Petalburg City." I usually went with my family to Dewford to visit my cousins, but I had never been to Petalburg before. I sighed, for it would be a long journey. Professor Birch was the only person in Hoenn authorized to give licenses to starting trainers, but because he lived in Litleroot Town, I would have to get to Petalburg and have the Gym leader get me to Littleroot. As I stepped into the boat, I heard my mother's voice in my head - "Be good to your pokemon, Jetton, and use them wisely." I knew that what she said was a good thing to keep in mind, especially the "wise" part. I had made some pretty dumb mistakes before, but I was turning over a new leaf. Tomorrow I would become a pokemon trainer. ----------------- "Jett'n? Y'up, lad?" I could feel somebody shaking me. I woke up, first startled, then I recognized the old man's smile and knew I was safe. "There," he said, helping me onto the bench. "Y'okay?" "Wha? Yeah, I'm fine," I said with a yawn. "Ah, th'wonders of sleep. 'Tis a might good thing ye rested, though, 'cos ye 'ave a big day tomorrow!" I smiled and thanked him for the ride. I watched as the boat disappeared into the horizon, then headed for the city. I immediately went to the Pokemon Center to call my mom - I knew she would be worried if I didn't. I dialed the number and watched as her rosy face appeared on the screen. "Hi, mom. I'm at the Petalburg Pokemon Center now." "Oh, honey, that's great! I miss you so much."I winced when those words came out of her mouth. I could hear people saying things like "Don't make Mommy cry!" I turned around and glared at a red-haired kid surrounded by hysterical goons. He smirked at me, proud of the results of his joke. "Mom, not so loud!" I muttered into the receiver. "You're embarassing me." "Sorry, hun. Anyway, Professor Birch wanted me to remind you to go to Petalburg Gym tonight. Have a good time!" "Bye, Mom." I logged off of the computerphone and grabbed my bags. After getting a bite to eat, I headed out the door. I saw the Petalburg Gym ahead and walked inside. There were two locked doors on either end of the room, but the Gym leader was right in the middle. He looked at me with questioning eyes. "Hello, uh..." he said, looking for my name. "Jetton Satamo. I was sent here by Professor Birch." "Oh, forgive me! I'm Norman, the Petalburg Gym leader. Yes, I did receive a call from the professor saying that you would arrive. You are to stay here for the night, and one of my Junior Trainers will escort you to his lab tomorrow." I knew why I was to be "escorted" - the wild pokemon are known to attack. I didn't have a pokemon to defend myself, so the trainer would use their pokemon to fend it off should any attack. "Come in here, Jetton." Norman led me to a trainer room and pulled out a mattress from the closet. He threw on a pillow and a comforter to top it off. It wasn't exactly a prince's bed, but it would certainly last me. I got into my pajamas and closed my eyes, thinking about the new day ahead of me. ----------------- I immediately woke up the next day, eager to get a pokemon. I got into my Trainer clothes and packed my bags. After getting ready, Norman introduced me to one of his trainers. He was a tall blonde boy who was a little older than me - maybe about fourteen. His Delcatty purred and rubbed up against my leg. "Hi, I'm Randall." He smiled and shook my hand. "Nice to meet you, Randall. I'm Jetton Satamo." "So, are you getting your first pokemon today?" "Yeah, I'm really excited." And I was. Norman smiled, and I think he beleived that I would be a great trainer. "Well, you two seem to get along just fine. Make sure he's safe, Randall," said Norman. "I will. Come on, Jetton, let's go!" He returned Delcatty to the Pokeball and walked out the door. I hurried after him, counting down the seconds until I got my pokemon. Randall took me into the Pokemon Center to tell Professor Birch that we were on our way. I was glad that the red-haired kid wasn't there. Once Randall logged off, we bought some sandwiches and headed off to Route 102. I just followed him, because I didn't have a clue as to where we were. I watched as other starting trainers fought eachother with their young pokemon. Wow, I thought. I can't wait to be in a battle like that. "Woah!" A voice behind me yelled out. I whirled around to find a gray dog attacking Randall. "Go, Delcatty!" Randall took out a pokeball from his pocket, and released his Delcatty. He ordered him to do a quick attack. My thoughts were focused on the battle; each and every move that the Pokemon made were precise. Delcatty's large and nimble body quickly thrashed the Pokemon and ran into the dense forest. "Are you okay?" I asked him. "Yeah, I'm fine. That one was huge, though!" "That thing?" I said, confused. "But it was only knee high!" "Exactly. They shouldn't even reach your shins!" After the disturbance, we headed on to Oldale Town. We stopped at the pokemon center and Randall healed his Delcatty. We headed down to Route 101 and I saw another Poochyena. It was a regular one though. It looked sleepily up at me, yawned and went back to bed. I saw another town in the distance and groaned. Not another one. But little did I know that this would be the one of the most important towns in my journey. ----------------- "Well, we're here," said Randall, putting down his bags. "This is Littleroot." "It is? I expected it to be full of people wanting a license." "They only take ten people a day, and it's already the evening, so I bet everyone's already registered by now. But we can check if there's still a slot." Randall and I walked up to the tall building. I was, hopefully tonight, to be accepted into the world of Pokemon.
