She stared, completely dumbfounded. Rain was falling heavily, drenching, soaking everything, including her, her boyfriend, and him. He, the man that they only faintly recognized, was holding a 9mm handgun aimed at the chest of the one she loved. Her first true love. The handgun was shining, even coldly glistening, in the light of the dimly lit back street of the town. The man had been following them for days, although they had hardly noticed, they did know.

Now, the mysterious figure stood not more than 50 feet away from her beloved, whose gaze was transfixed on that life ending object. He stood maybe ten feet away from her, yet she could not move to save him.

The gunman was clad in black, blended in with the very shadows that seemed to give birth to his non-moving form. Her date was dressed in a black tuxedo, she herself was covered with a tight-fitting, low-necked, long Cerulean blue dress, her flaming-red hair let down straight, water winding it's way slowly down through her hair. They were dressed so nicely because they were making their way home from their first dance together, a local Ball-room formal dance.

After what seemed an eternity of stillness, a coarse voice, as dark and nebulous as the night it came from pierced the quiet as it rasped, "You ruined my life, so, I'm ruining yours. Permanently". Without so much as another whisper, the gunman fired, the bullet ripping through the chest of her other half, the one who completed her. Slowly, but deliberately, the gunman holstered his gun, and ambled away.

She stared. Her love, her first and only, was lying almost completely lifeless on the ground. His once lively, spiked, raven-black hair now wet, matted, and lifelessly hanging toward the ground it was suspended above. His passion-filled, bright, chocolate-brown eyes now stared dimly at nothing, yet everything at once.

She began to scream, but made no sound. She wanted to scream, but could not. Couldn't force it. She wanted to cry, to weep bitterly, but could not even summon one tear. She wanted to run to him, tell him everything would be all right, and most importantly, that she loved him. However, she could not move. She didn't know why. She could not know why.

All she could do was watch. Watch as crimson mixed with clear and washed away. Watch as blood and water soaked his once debonair tuxedo. All she could do was watch. Watch, a the last few drops of his life slowly slipped away....
