Chapter 1: Hibiscus Dreams

“MISTY!!!! GET YOUR FAT BUTT OUT OF BED, NOW!” Caye yelled at her companion.

“Eh, five more minutes…” Misty replied sleepily and started drooling again.

“What could you be dreaming about to make you stay in bed and miss out on the Tiki Island Festival of Lanterns? A certain Ash Ketchum?” Caye said slyly. Misty’s eyes opened widely. She immediately got up and picked up her pillow.

“NOOOO!” Misty said as she playfully threw the pillow at her friend.

Ash, Brock, Misty and Caye were on their way to meet some of the Cerulean girls’ friends who lived on the very beautiful Tiki Island. Caye’s boyfriend, Dan, told them about the Festival of Lanterns that took place each year. It had the loveliest lanterns, greatest street performers and a competition for the most gorgeous kimono designed by the Tikians. The event was the most celebrated one on the island. Everyone did something for it. Schools decorated their classrooms and had visitors and parents enjoy presentations in their theatres.

Misty was especially enthusiastic about going. Her good friend Sarah would be there. Sarah, Caye and herself always played together when they were younger. Than, Caye and Sarah moved to the island, and Caye came back the past year.

Brock was making breakfast when they came out of the bedroom. Ash was watching TV, and Pikachu was playing with Togepi, and Vulpix, Caye’s pokemon, was trying to climb up on the counter and reach an apple that sat on it. Caye walked over to her friend and lifted the pokemon up, so she could reach the fruit. “VULLL!” She said triumphantly. Caye smiled down at her and placed her carefully on the floor again. Vulpix ran over to Togepi and Pikachu and gave them the apple.

“Hurry up and eat, guys. We have an hour before we have to check in at the Hibiscus Resort.” Brock said as he handed Misty, Ash and Caye their plates of pancakes.

“Don’t worry, Brock. We’ll eat quickly. I can’t wait to get a full day at the spa!” Caye said dreamily. Misty rolled her eyes.

“Well, I want to get there quickly too. I can hardly wait to see our friends again.” Misty said. “And I know a certain Ash who just can’t wait to see a certain Candice.” Misty added, with a giggle. Ash snorted up his glass of milk.

“WHAT? Oh yea?” he said.

“Yea!” she replied.

“No!”

“Yes!”

“NO!”

“YES!”

“NOOOOO!”

“YESSSSS!”

“Well, Misty, you can’t wait to get another glimpse of Dan.” He retorted. “Oh Dan, I’ll help you get your books from the library. Oh Dan, can’t you tell that I LOVE you?” he mocked. Misty didn’t speak to him for the rest of the time before they left. Caye shot a glance at Misty for a sign of truth, and Misty sighed. They all knew Misty liked Dan last time they visited the island. However, ever since Caye started dating him, Misty liked someone else.

“Ok, we better get going now.” Brock said.

Misty and Caye were talking about what they were going to do when they got there. “I think I am going to call Sarah, Candice, and Amanda up. I’ve been dying to see them!” Caye said to her friend. Misty nodded.

“You and Candice are still friends? I thought she treated you like crap?” Misty asked in an annoyed tone. They both knew that Misty never liked Candice. She always tried to out compete Misty, be it getting first place at their Middle School beauty pageant, or even winning Ash’s heart. Caye knew this quite well, and was always treated pretty poorly by Candice.

“Well, Amanda’s best friend is Candice, so if I didn’t call her up, she’d know anyways, sorry Mist.” She said reluctantly as they walked over to the bus stop. She tied her long, wavy brown hair in a pony tail. Misty always though her hair looked like Mary Kate’s hair, except longer. “Ugh, I can’t ever get it to stay straight. Always bumpy. WHY??” She said sadly in the mirror. Misty giggled, but she didn’t feel too bad for her friend. Her red locks had no body at all. Just straight and blah.

The large blue bus had a huge pink hibiscus on the side, and said, “Hibiscus Resort” in big, bold yellow letters. “This is our bus guys.” Brock said. Misty looked in awe as the door opened and the three busboys walked out of it and took their luggage inside. “After you,” Brock said to Caye. She smiled and walked on, followed by Misty, Ash and Brock.

“Oh my gosh, this is so cool!” Misty said to Ash on the way down the aisle, forgetting her anger. He nodded. *Haha, that’s sounds like something else that could be in store for them* The walls of the bus were lined with little sea jewels that lit up. On each seat back, there was a portable cable TV with a little remote. Misty sat next to Caye, and they turned on channel 7. 50 First Dates was on.

“I love this movie! Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are great together!” Caye said happily as Vulpix jumped on her lap. Pikachu abandoned Ash and sat down in the middle of them to watch the movie too. Togepi went off into a nap as the bus rode on.

“Here we are!” The speaker said enthusiastically. “Hibiscus Resort, Tiki Island! Please have a good day and watch your step!” All of the passengers got off the bus and headed into the beautiful day.

“Well, lets go check in. I think we have 2 suites and a main room.” Brock concluded to them as they walked inside the Polynesian looking walkway. * If you have ever been to the Polynesian Resort at Disney World in Florida, it resembles the Hibiscus Resort very much. Infact, in the main building, on the main floor (1), there is a delicious restaurant called The Hibiscus Petal, which is an equivalent to Disney’s Ohana. There is also a café, called the Bamboo Leaf, which is a very important place in this story. Other activities include a movie theatre, a monorail that goes all around the island, a day spa (Caye’s personal favorite), a wave pool, a planetarium, and nightly fireworks. It is rated 5 stars, however it certainly wasn’t cheap to hold 4 friends and 13 pokemon. *

“Hello, how may I help you?” the lady at the desk said happily.

“My friends and I are staying in 2 suites and 1 main room. Name is under Caye Louise.” Caye said. The lady looked at her computer and got their keys out of a small compartment.

“Here you go, miss: 3 keys for room 7. I will charge it to your account. Your keys can be used as charge cards during your stay here if you wish to do so, miss.” She looked at Caye for consent, who nodded in approval. “Have a fun week!”
“Ok, Misty, Brock, and I get keys because we’re the oldest. Sorry Ash, why don’t you share with Brock?” Caye said as she handed out the keys to her friends. Ash scowled as they walked over to room 7.

Misty’s eyes widened as they looked that the beautiful room. “The view is amazing from the porch! And this is our room over here, with the Hibiscus Resort sign in pink. I imagine yours is the blue one!” she said happily as she ran into the room. “A big screen TV with cable? A back massage chair? I love it!” Misty exclaimed. “Oh and look, there is even a little room for the pokemon! How sweet!”

Caye nodded. She knew this was the best place to stay on the island, as the service was impeccable. “Hey girls. Whats up?” came a familiar voice from the doorway. Sarah walked into the room, and immediately went to hug the elated girls. “MISTY! CAYE! It’s been like, forever!”

“I know, ugh. Ash had us so busy with his journey. Finally, we get some time just to have fun. Oh I can’t wait to see my love!” Caye said with starry-eyes. The girls all giggled.

“Oh, did I tell you? Ash has been so excited to see Candice, to Misty’s dismay.” Caye joked. Misty snorted.

“Yeah sure. I don’t like Ash, GIVE IT UP ALREADY! Besides, who would want to date Candice? The stuck up bratty, obnoxious, ugly, evil, stupid-“

“Ugh, she is happy to see that you’re in town too, Misty. So she can ‘kick your butt at everything you do’. Gosh, don’t let her bug you, Mist.” Sarah said. “She’s just jealous. You’re pretty, popular-“

“No, Caye and you are, I’m just your friend.” Misty said unenthusiastically. Caye shrugged.

“Whatever, it doesn’t matter, Mist. Oh and there is something I need to tell you Cay-“ Sarah said as she got interrupted by a knock on the door.

“We have to go out to town to see the sights, girls!” Brock yelled from the outside room.

“It’ll just have to wait I guess, Sarah. Besides, I’ve waited all day to see the town!” Caye said happily. They walked out of the room, and soon the boys joined them for the beginning of a very different adventure than before.

Preview of Chapter 2: Reunion of Foes

“Hi Candice. Um- uh…” Ash stuttered as he looked at her. Candice’s golden hair was flipped in a messy bun. Her skirt was 2 inches too short, but frilled out and showed her long legs. He felt himself get hot in the face. Ash knew he was just being stupid, Candice was a spoiled girl who always got what she wanted. But Ash knew that if she wanted his heart, she continued the tradition of her ways.

She flitted her eyelashes, and looked over at Misty, who was burning up with anger. ‘How dare she! I’ve known Ash longer, and I’ve loved him longer. For heaven sakes’, she met him 2 years ago!’ She thought, raging.

“Hello Misty. I see you brought your, eh, interesting fashion statement with you again. Same old, same old. Oh well, not everyone is perfect, like me. But really, Misty. You should consider getting a new ‘do. Oh yeah, and a totally different outfit. Jeans and a tank top don’t last forever, hun.” Candice said, egging her on. “At least MY love interest is in my reach, you don’t stand a chance.”

Misty felt herself getting rather hot with anger. Caye noticed this too and hoped she wouldn’t do anything rash. Too late…
