Ok, So I just need to say, this is the most crucial episode in the story. Also, the song, Tears on My Pillow, is from Grease, so just get over the fact that you didn’t write it. Also, PLEASE, realize that Candice will not fall into the ocean to her death because of tripping on her kimono or not being able to walk in her platform shoes…

Chapter 5: A Kiss from Me to You

---------------------

“Misty… It’s a gift from us to you. Try it on, I’ve been working on it all week.” Sarah said enthusiastically as her friend moped around. Caye noticed right away that something was wrong.

“Hey, Sare, why don’t we all take a trip to the town? I mean, we’ve hardly seen it. And Misty, you can tell us where you went last night, I woke up and noticed that you and Ash still didn’t come back… from only Heaven knows where.” She added. Suddenly, they heard a knock at the door. It was Ash. Misty froze and found herself suddenly needing to use the bathroom. “Great, just the person I need to speak to.” He said as Misty ran to the bathroom, to throw her bad feelings up.

“What is all of this about, Ash?” Brock said as he entered the room. “I have noticed you and Misty moping about all day.”

“I… I am so confused.” Was all could come out of Ash’s mouth. “Could you guys, maybe, leave for a second?”

They nodded and walked out of the room, muttering words that Ash couldn’t understand. Misty walked out of the bathroom and stared at him.

“So, what happened to the “sunset with Sarah” plan? You don’t expect ME to tell her, do you?”

“I came to say I was leaving. I need to get on with my life. I plan to leave after the Festival tonight.” He said, his eyes moist from the coldness in Misty’s eyes bearing into his own.

“Well. I guess you better pack you bags.” With that, she walked out of the room, and left Ash standing along.

----------------

Later, at the spa, the girls met up with Daisy, to get ready for the big festival. She was beaming with excitement.

“Girls, I have some, like, important news. There is going to be a dance on the beach after the kimono show. I suggest we go. Maybe love will like, spark?” She said, starry-eyed.

“That will be fun, and we should have enough time to change into more suitable clothing than our dresses and your kimono.” Sarah said to Misty.

“I’d like that a lot.” She said with a smile.

--------------

That evening, Caye walked around the Boardwalk (where the Festival was happening mainly) with Dan, to check that everyone had finished their finishing touches. He put his arm around her and they chatted for a little bit.

“So, how is operation Make-The-Impossible-Possible working out?” He said, jokingly.

“Ugh… They’re so stubborn. I just wish I knew what happened last night at the beach. I’m beginning to lose hope for them.” Caye replied.

“Well, I can’t wait for tonight, Sarah has spent so much time on Misty’s kimono. Ash won’t be able to resist.”

“What about Candice? We can’t leave her out of the picture.” Caye said, sadly.

“I highly doubt Ash would choose her over Misty. But what about us? I mean you haven’t exactly been obsessing over us recently.” Dan said. Caye stopped walking, but held his hand to make him stop walking.

“Your right, Dan. I’ve been so caught up in Misty and Ash’s relationship, I just haven’t put enough energy into us.” She said as she moved closer to him.

“You are amazing,” he said softly as he kissed her. “You know that, right?”

“Now I do. Come on, lets get back.” She said when she finally broke away.

--------------

Ash was walking around the town, with Pikachu perched up on his shoulders. Brock, Daisy, Violet, Dan, Jess, and Lily were all walking down the Boardwalk, where Dan and Caye were walking before. Caye smiled at Ash, who seemed to be having a better time not thinking about Misty.

When they walked past a few girls with kimonos in their hands, Ash stopped; he decided to follow them, possibly able to talk to Misty again. He slipped away, and entered a room with a bunch of girls and their friends who had designed their kimonos. He saw a curtain which on top read, “Misty Waterflower” in big, bold lettering.

“Ash…” A voice came from inside. “I know you are standing right next to my curtain.” Misty’s sweet voice said. “I don’t want you to leave tomorrow. I don’t know what came over me.”

                Ash smiled. “I won’t, don’t worry, Mist.”

“Another thing, Ash.” She said softly.

“Hmm?” He said in a very relaxed voice.

“What did you want to tell me?” She said.

“I wanted to say that I told Candice to leave us alone, forever.  So I could spend time with the one I truly love.” He said and he felt himself very close to the figure behind the curtain.

“I will see you later, Ash.” She said with a smile and a blush.

--------------

Ash caught up with the guys and Misty’s sisters at the stage where the Kimono Contest would take place. The curtain rustled and Caye jumped out, with a microphone, and instead of jeans and a t-shirt, a black halter dress that went down to her knees. Her hair was down, and it was curly and went down to her lower back. She looked quite happy to be back on the stage were she met Dan.

“Hello, friends and, well, people who I don’t know! Welcome to the 7th annual Festival of Lanterns Kimono Show!” She said to a huge applause. “Thank you. Now, before we get started, I want to call to the stage, all of our designers! Lets hear it!” She said as many townspeople came to the stage, lead by Sarah. They bowed and walked off the stage.

“Ok, now its time for the first kimono dancer, Hikora!” She said as a young girl probably the age of 14 danced out of the curtains and showed off her beautiful pink kimono. Her dark blue hair was in a bun, and little forget me nots were place in her hair. She smiled and threw, out of a basket she was holding, hundreds of the tiny blue flowers that infest your garden unless you use chemical help. Everyone clapped and Hikora took a bow and pranced back into the curtain.

“Our next kimono dancer is a three time winner; let’s hear it for, Candice!” A huge applause set off when Candice danced onto the stage and showed off her gorgeous dark red kimono. Her long blonde hair was in a pretty knot and she had 3 dark red roses stuck in it. When she reached the edge of the stage, she threw 5 roses into the air and spun into the curtain. The applause was still going and finally quieted down when Caye the EMCEE spoke again. After 2 other contestants, Caye made the last announcement.

“Welcome our final kimono dancer, a girl who is not from Tiki, but from its sister city, Cerulean City, Misty!” A scattered applause was quickly spread much louder as the Cerulean native elegantly danced upon the stage in her aqua blue kimono. Her hair was much different than the others. Her long orange hair was curled and put into Japanese twist, and instead of sticks holding it in place, gorgeous water lilies lined her right side of her face. Ash looked at her. ‘Wow… She beats the others girls by a mile…’ He thought. Her lovely blue eyes sparkled as the applause grew even louder than Candice’s. She smiled a bright smile and threw lilies into the crowd, to many “oohs and ahhs”. And she threw an especially large Casablanca (her favorite kind) to Ash, who caught at and could have sworn she winked at him. He smiled and applauded with the rest of the audience.

“Thanks to our amazing crew and talented talents in the show! But also, thanks to you guys for supporting us!” Caye said as she took a bow and all of the people involved came on the stage and took a bow.

“But, of course, it is time for the judges’ decisions.” Caye said as the audience quieted down. The judges smiled and stepped on the stage. One, was Violet Waterflower, who was in a purple colored gown. The two others were two townspeople Ash didn’t know and suspected one was the Mayor and his daughter.

“My decision,” The Mayor’s daughter said, “was hard to make. I have chosen to vote for Candice Uhaka because of her brilliance on stage.” She said to a roar of an applause.

“As my daughter’s decision was hard, mine was equally. I have decided to vote for Misty Waterflower because of her stunning performance.”

“And my decision, was like, really hard, because Misty is my sister… But whatever! I chose Hikora, because of her incredible performance and fashion sense!”

“So, we have a tie. Well, this is quite easy to fix. We just need to hear an applause when each dancer comes up front. Whoever has the loudest applause, wins!” Caye said as she lead Hikora forward to a large applause. She smiled and bowed. Then, Candice pranced forward and got an even larger applause. Finally, Misty came forward, and she gained the largest applause out of all of them. But no one cheered louder than Ash.

“MISTY WATERFLOWER IS THE WINNER!” Caye said happily. She gave her a trophy. “Thank you for attending! See you next year!!” Caye said, bowing.

Backstage, Misty was putting on a pair of jeans and an aqua blue tank top. She put a Hibiscus Resort sweatshirt overtop of it and walked out of the changing room. Everyone was waiting for her. Caye, Dan, her sisters, Sarah, Jess, Brock, and of course, Ash were all standing by the stage. She walked out and Caye ran to hug her.

“You did great, Misty!” she said.

                “Absolutely fantastic job!” Sarah cried.

Everyone had good feedback for her. Ash smiled at her, which she of course, returned. Caye, motioned everyone to let her masterpiece fix itself. She said something about being hungry and needing to change. So, Ash and Misty were alone, again. They started walking to the beach party.

“Misty, I can’t tell you how beautiful you looked then and look now.” He said, almost in a whisper.

Aww thanks Ash.” She said sweetly.

“I realized it last night. I knew I was empty. I felt alone and cold. But now, I know what I can do to make myself whole. You, Misty, are my soulmate. It was destiny, as you put it this morning that we met. And I love you more than anyone ever could.” Ash said. She smiled.

“Duh.” She said as they arrived at the beach. They sat down on the bench on which they sat the night before. He brushed her hair out of her eyes from the wind. “Misty, will you let me k-“ he started, but she already replied, with a sweet kiss.

“Oh Ash,” She said a bit later on in the evening. “I absolutely love this song, its sweet.” They were playing Tears on My Pillow.

“My Young Miss, would you care to dance?” He said, in a gentleman’s way.

“Of course, my Dear Sir.” She sweetly responded.

                Oh you don’t remember me

                But I remember you

It was not so long ago

You broke my heart in two

Ash held Misty close, he could feel her heart beating softly.

                Tears on my pillow

Pain in my heart caused by you

She smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek.

If we could start a new

                I wouldn't hesitate,

                I’d gladly take you back

And test the hands of fate

Tears on my pillow

Pain in my heart caused by you
