Jake and Sabrina left the infirmary after stitching up Static, and putting him into a pokeball. “Jake?” Sabrina said quietly as they stopped to listen to footsteps. “Why did you stop coming to me for help?” Jake looked back at Sabrina who was eying a possible place for grunts to emerge and ambush them. “My father passed away last year. After that I didn’t feel like any kind of treatment or anything like that would break this curse.” He said to more to himself than to Sabrina. “The nightmares are getting worse aren’t they?” Sabrina asked knowing the answer. “Sometimes I can feel your pain from hundreds of miles away.” “Yeah, they’re gettin’ worse. It used to be that I wouldn’t have a nightmare but once every two or three weeks. Now days, it seems like I can’t even close my eyes without having another one.” Jake glanced back to a doorway, where he heard a sound. When he decided it was nothing, he said, “Let’s move.” Cinnabar Island Ben’s Charizard touched down onto the rooftop of the Titan IV. Just when he planned to enter he saw a glint in the distance. The silhouettes got closer and closer until Ben saw that it was Red and Cable. Red’s Aerodactyl landed close to Ben, and Red said, “Ben, where’s Jake?” “Why don’t you tell me?” Ben said as he tossed Red’s badge to him. “I dunno; he left us about three hours ago.” Red clipped the badge to his belt. “He came here to find this battleship” “You mean he’s still alive?” Ben was in disbelief. “Yeah; I guess you heard we were killed too, then huh Ben?” Cable said with a short chuckle. “That’s right.” Ben was happy to hear that Jake wasn’t crushed to death. Inside the Titan IV Jake moved slowly through the hallways with Sabrina close behind. Then he heard the evil laughter of Nikolai Kruschev. It sent a chill down his back. “Why don’t you come on in Jake?” Nikolai taunted over the intercom. He could’ve been anywhere on the ship. “Or are you afraid?” “I don’t scare easily you coward!” Jake yelled to the darkness. “Of course not… that’s why you hide from your own dreams!” Nikolai replied. “He’s in a large room on the middle deck.” Sabrina had located Nikolai with her telekinesis. Jake turned and ran to the stairs and started climbing. He climbed them in four bounds, and found himself in an arena. “Hello Jake. Long time no see. You’re just in time to watch the destruction of Cinnabar Island! Blackheart, now!” Jake looked out the window and saw Blackheart charge up a mass of energy, and fire it at Cinnabar Island. Ben felt the entire ship rock as they came down the stairs onto the first floor. “What the hell?” Cable said loudly. “That doesn’t sound good at all.” Red added to Cable’s outburst. “We’d better find Jake and get the hell outta here.” Ben called back to Red and Cable. “Blackheart, take us to our… prepared special place.” Nikolai commanded. “My God…” Jake said as he looked down and saw his body fading away. When he finally could see his body again, he was no longer in the arena. Jake, Sundance, Blackheart, and Nikolai, were all floating hundreds of miles above the earth. Jake held his breath, knowing there was no oxygen in space. He looked at the map on his Pokedex just to be sure, but there was no signal. “Space?” Nikolai grinned wickedly. “Yep, like it?” Jake looked over and saw the two pokemon that saved him from Darkrai’s Dark Void. They were both bound by chains made of ruby. “Pretty, if only there weren’t pokemon in pain.” Nikolai laughed. “Soon your Lugia will join them. And then the ‘Mighty Ones’ will fall. Jake growled his anger but couldn’t move. “Now Jake, We do what we should have done years ago. Kill you!! Blackheart Aero Cannon!” A mass of energy like the one that destroyed Cinnabar, began to form. Blackheart fired the energy at Jake, but Sundance moved to block it. Darkrai appeared in front of Sundance and caught the beam in his hands. “Tut, tut, tut Nikolai. That’s not very nice.” “You!” Jake growled angrily. Did the whole world intend to show up here? “Yes, Black. Me. For the last time. I’ve made… a deal with Arceus. He’s the one looking out for you. I’ll help you out.” Shadows formed around Jake and Sundance and then they were gone. “Now, Blackheart. I believe we’ve got a time old grudge to settle with each other.” “Kadabra, use Slash!” Sabrina ordered her Kadabra. Kadabra used the spoon he held in his hand to slash through the engine’s core, and blow it up. “Three to go.” She said to her self as she turned to search for another engine. Sabrina came around a corner and bumped into Jake, followed by Kim. “Kim?” She couldn’t believe Kim was back. “Yes.” Kim said with a smile. Static stood next to her, and that’s when Sabrina noticed, Static’s pokeball was missing from her waist. “But how?” Sabrina said. “Jirachi appeared to me, and granted me three wishes. I wished that Static was healed and with me. Then I wished that I was healed. And then I wished that I was here.” Kim explained. Jake was more concerned about the engines. “How many did you take out?” “Just one.” Sabrina replied glancing back at the smoke and debris. “Okay, I’ll take out one, Kim can take one, and Sabrina, you can take out the other one.” Jake decided. Kim and Sabrina nodded, and started in different directions. Jake turned and went his own way which led to the engine room on the starboard side of the ship. As he prepared to blow the engine up he was caught off guard by a Cloyster’s Aurora Beam. The attack laid him out flat on the ground. Jake could see Giovanni walking into the room. “Heh, heh, heh. You don’t appear to be as quick as your friend Red. He would have heard me coming a mile away.” Jake stood up slowly. “You’re coming with me.” Giovanni said. Jake was in no position to object. Besides Sundance, who was outside the ship, Jake only happened to have Ditto and Rascal with him at the moment, and Giovanni’s Cloyster could easily take Jake out before he could get to either pokeball. Jake threw his hands up into the air. “What can I do? You’ve got me.” Giovanni released a Machamp from its pokeball. “Now, make him uncomfortable.” One of Machamp’s four massive arms reached out and picked Jake up off of the ground. It began to slam him into the wall repeatedly until Jake’s body felt like it was breaking into pieces. “This is so you can’t try to run.” Giovanni sneered as Machamp did its damage. Jake fell unconscious. He woke up again on the roof of the Titan IV. Machamp was still holding him, but now Sabrina and Kim had shown up. “I want you off of my ship now, or it’s a watery grave for the cowboy!” Giovanni called to the girls. =Sundance, be ready to catch me.= Jake said to Sundance, who was apparently still out there. =Okay, Jake.= Jake thought quickly for a moment. He needed a way to open Giovanni up for an attack. The idea came to him. “Don’t listen to him! He won’t throw me over the side.” Jake yelled. He looked at Sabrina and winked. “Don’t test me boy.” Giovanni said glancing at Jake. Kim took a step forward angrily, but Sabrina put her arm out and stopped her. “Throw him over! He means nothing to me.” Sabrina called hoping Jake’s plan would work. She could see a smile spread across his face from under his hat. “So be it.” Giovanni said as Machamp threw Jake over the edge. On the way down, Jake could hear Kim’s screech of horror. Just in the nick of time he was caught by Sundance.
