--------Prelude-------- The soft summer winds blew, caressing Earth and all her children. The heavens were blessed with cottony clouds, filled with drizzles of cool rain. Yet, the sky did remain blue to allow the warm rays of sun unto the plentiful life upon Terra Firma. Upon the world of many creatures, a blessed morn' had dawned. Fate was to make itself between two within this day of many beautiful facets. Aloft the mighty mountain of Auburn, did the sun caress; did the winds blow; did the rain fall. Yes, aloft the mighty mountain of Auburn, peace its home; and upon it's peak, rested a legendary shrine of which humans and their pokemon partners tested their strength. The sacred Auburn Gym, so it was called. Only the most courageous could climb through its mighty slopes. As within, lay the most sought after item: The Badge of Ciphers. The power it held lay unknown throughout the ages. Not a soul, but those who have guarded it, has laid eyes upon it. Yet, the Guardians, throughout the folds of time, had fallen away from the temple of which The Cipher was held, and left it unknown to humanity for many a century. They had traveled across the mighty sea to where the land was rich and luscious, where there were other humans of which they could coexist. They became mixed within the populous, and became unaware of who they truly were. The youngest of these Guardians is one who shall be grasped by the great hand of Fate. The young Guardian is the last of her kind, the last of the Guardians of The Cipher. She is young, orphaned, and alone in the vast world. With her pokemon partners she has traveled through many countries, never meeting another human who understood her ways. Save one human, though. That one human had been her neighbor in a small town: A town called Pallet. This was her birthplace, where she grew with her one friend that understood her. Her deep soul was seen through by him, and loved by him. He did not speak of his emotion, though at times he had shown it. She did not notice, as she was too much of a friend rather than anything else. Their days of peace and beauty had lasted for the time of a decade; limited by Fate. Their times were not in vain, as the two severed ends were to reunite once again. The day, of which they both aged a decade, was the last day they saw into each other's eyes. She had received her first pokemon, an Eevee, and was on her way down the road. He was sprinting, in his pajamas, towards the laboratory in which he should receive his partner, but stopped before entering. He saw her, carrying the tawny Eevee within her arms. She turned with the sound of his rushed footsteps towards the laboratory. They locked eyes and smiled across the distance, and waved to one another longer than they had ever done; they did not want to finally part. She turned back to the path, and continued onward. He kept waving, though his smile had wilted. Hand lowering to his side, he withheld a small tear, and entered the building. Neither had looked back. ---------One-------- "Miora, what is wrong? You look so melancholy..." G'ata softly whispered. Miora turned from her solace gaze into the early horizon, slightly startled. She stretched her arms above her head. She had been awake since before light, and was still greatly exhausted from the previous day. "Oh... It's nothing..." she murmured solemnly. G'ata, her wise Absol, who was one of the few rare pokemon who could speak the tongue of man, knew Miora better. She could sense that there was something wrong, as she always had. There was always an aura of calm around G'ata; whenever Miora was sad, G'ata had always soothed her. "Miora..." she whispered concernedly, "Tell me, what's troubling you?" G'ata paced several times behind Miora's back and finally sat next to her. She lifted an ebony clawed paw, placing it on Miora's hand. Miora sighed heavily. "I've been thinking about.... Him...", she began rather uncomfortably, "... It is just... I feel so... alone right now..." G'ata turned her head to one side, crimson optics posing in a worried fashion. "You are not alone, I.... WE are here, your pokemon! We're here for you!" Miora shook her head, withholding a small choking sob. She closed her eyes, and the heavy pain lessened. "No, I mean, I feel alone because.... I have no HUMAN friends. It's not that I'm not grateful for you, my pokemon, it's just...." She thought for a moment "... So hard to explain..." "I understand." G'ata said, a tone of solemnity in her deep, warm, feminine voice. "But, I suppose I never perfectly will, as I am not human." She stood, stretching her muscular legs. "Will you sleep any more, Miora?" "No, I've tried. I've too much on my mind to sleep..." "I wish I could help..." said G'ata sadly. "No, it is all right... It is of my own doing that I am sad... I should have followed him.... Either that.... Or have forgotten him and all of the humans I knew..." Miora finished the conversation, resting her head forward upon her cupped hands. Her body trembled with small sobs and cries. G'ata had turned back to look after her, but thought it best to allow her to release her strong emotion in peace. She again turned, and withdrew herself into her pokeball. Miora continued to sit, curled into a fetal position upon the hard rock of the cliff upon which she sat. Raising her trembling head, she gazed into the vivid sunrise. She felt calm... After months of insecurity, she felt... At peace. She sat up once more, this time standing. I am going to find him, Miora thought confidently, after four long, lonely years, I shall find him. Miora crawled beneath the sheets of her sleeping bag. She continued to watch the rising sun. The cold night became warm, caressing her icy cheeks and spreading light upon her fair skin. Her dark brown hair lightened into a redder hue, it glistened in the graduating sunlight. "Beauty... And... Peace... All I could ask for..." --------Two-------- The blessed morn' had awakened all of Earth's children. Miora lay awake, remaining in insomnia from the previous night. She sat up; mustering all of her unreplenished energy, and reached for her backpack. Within lay her six pokeballs, each containing her well-trained, strong pokemon. She picked each of them up, tapping on the red lid. "Wake up!", she whispered to each of them. As the balls rested upon the ground, they opened. Out came each of her pokemon, stretching and yawning. G'ata awoke first, not as tired as the others. Second came Sammy, or Sam for short, her Typhlosion. Third was Sam's mate, Firebrand, also a Typhlosion. They each gave a loud, bellowing yawn. Fourth came Yin, an Umbreeon. This was Miora's Eevee, who evolved at exactly midnight on a full moon, which happened to be the night before the Pokemon League tournament, giving her an advantage. Fifth came Kaju, Miora's Manectric. Kaju was often described as a 'soccer mom', though she had no children (which was thankful, only The Creator knows what Kaju might do to them if that were to ever to occur). Sixth, Lyanna the Swellow came forth. Lyanna was the most beautiful of all bird pokemon, not just as an opinion, but also as fact. Her beauty and pure attitude surpassed all of the legendary birds. She helped Miora travel across the land, speeding through the airways with such beauty and grace that, to those who saw her flight from below, was referred to as 'Lyanna, the Goddess of Wind and Sky'. Though being a modest individual, she lived her life with Miora ignoring her glamour. "Everyone," Miora announced after all of the pokemon had finished stretching, "There's someone, an old friend of mine, that I've decided to go look for. You all probably don't know him, but he and I have been friends for a long time; I just... want to be sure that he's okay..." Miora's pokemon glanced at each other, smiling. They could see exactly where THIS was going... They knew that their trainer was just hiding her crush beneath transparent 'friendship'. They all turned to face her, grinning, laughter in their eyes. G'ata couldn't stand it, she began to laugh out loud, followed by the others. "What???" Miora said frantically, throwing her hands in the air. G'ata managed to suppress her light-hearted laughter, "Relax, we're laughing with you, not at you! It's just so cute that you have a crush on your old best friend!" Miora blushed a bright scarlet, turning around to face the sunset. She ran her fingers through her hair. She could not deny her love for her old friend; it was obvious now. Shrugging, she turned back around to face her humored pokemon. "So..." Miora began airily, "Shall we start?" Each of her pokemon had a very wide, toothy grin on their face. "Oh, I think you know the answer to that one, Miora!" -------- Three -------- ¡ Working on it !
