Very loud laughter filled the Pokecenter hallway, and then two people came in view. Ash leaned on Misty for support, looking around like a squirrel, with Misty ready to fall under his weight.

“Where’s my room?”

“Right here, Ash,” Misty said, helping Ash stand up.

“Thank you, oh sexy mistress,” Ash said, once again leaning on Misty for support, causing her to fall against the wall with him against her.

“Um…” Misty’s heart begun racing. Ash just grinned and started kissing her neck. Misty let out a slight moan.

“Mmm… Ash stop… You’re high and… God… I am so enjoying this… No! Stop! You’re… Ooh.. HIGH!” Ash ignored her and kept kissing. Misty suddenly realized that Ash wouldn’t remember anything of this when he woke up in the morning. Annoyed, she pushed him off.

“Huh? Why’d ya go an’ do that?” Misty knew he was completely stoned and didn’t want him to do anything violent. So she thought up an excuse.

“Erm… I don’t deserve you.” Misty was mentally kicked herself for that lame and kind of gay excuse. Ash began to laugh.

“You? Not deserve me? With your beauty and luscious curves?” Ash asked her, running his hand down the side of her body.

“I don’t deserve you,” he told her, nearing his mouth to her neck, once again. She put her fore finger on his lips and pushed his head back.

“No, Ash.” He backed off.

“It’s late. We should get some rest,” she said, unlocking her door, then reaching into his pocket and grabbing the key for his room. She unlocked his door and left him to whatever he was going to do, pass out or go insane. Misty tossed his key back to him, walked into her room and locked her door.

She grabbed her pajamas off the top of her bag.

“That was awkward,” she said to herself, taking off her clothing and changing into her pajamas. All of a sudden, there was a knock at her door. She sighed and opened it.

Ash stood at the door in nothing but his boxers and a white t-shirt.

“Um… Hello—MMPH!” Ash had grabbed the back of Misty’s head and set his open mouth against hers while she was in the midst of a sentence causing the kiss to be a tad more than expected by Misty. In shock, she stumbled backwards, still kissing Ash. Misty finally hit the wall, with Ash’s tongue exploring the inside of her mouth. Misty gave in and began to kiss back. She started caressing his back with her shaking hands. Ash went a little too far for Misty. He moved his hands to her chest and began groping her breasts. Misty realized what he was doing and struggled frantically to push him away. Finally her strength prevailed.

“ASH!!!”

“Wha?” Ash stumbled a little.

“No! We can NOT do this! NO, NO, NO!”

“Huh? Why not, Mis’? I’ve got a condom,” he said, stumbling towards her and pulling something out of his pocket. Misty gave him a disgusted look.

“That’s not the problem!”

“Den wha’s the problem-o babe?”

“You’re STONED!”

“Aw, c’mon. I had a ciga- cigar- cigarette. Not a joint. Look… It’s a polar bear…” Ash said, pointing behind Misty.

“Yes!  You had a joint! You had three of them! I couldn’t do anything! I had to stand there and watch you!”

“Nuh-uh… By the way, that polar bear’s gonna attack you…”

“Yes you did! NOW GET OUT!”

“But what about the polar bear?”

“OUT!” Ash slowly stumbled out of Misty’s room and into his, not closing her door. She stomped over and slammed it.

“AAAGH!” With that last cry, she slumped off to bed.

In the morning, Misty woke up to a loud banging on her door. She rolled over a few times to see if it was just her imagination. But it wasn’t. She immediately shot up.

“Shit,” she muttered, clambering out of the bed and over to the door. Afraid, she opened it, with a thought that Ash was going to bust in and begin groping at her again.

I’ve been watching you a while

Since you walked into my life

Monday morning, when first I heard you speak to me

I was too shy to let you know

Much too scared to let my feelings show

But you shielded me and that was the beginning

 But it wasn’t even Ash.

“Misty Williams?” It was officer Jenny.

“Yes. That’s me,” she said, giving Jenny a quizzical look.

“We have a few questions to ask you.”

“Oh… Um… Okay.” Fear struck Misty. Had someone found out about Ash? She smiled and sat down in the chair as Officer Jenny closed the door and walked up to her.

Misty thought back to her dream that she had over the night. Her and Ash had truly been in love and it didn’t involve any drugs or liquor. They had sat there, watching the sunset, wrapped in each others arms. They lay against a tree while a blanket covered them. The breeze softly whirled around the area, ruffling both their hair. They exchanged glances, smiled then resumed to watching the sunset.

Now at last we can talk in another way

And though I try, “I love you” is just so hard to say

If I only could be strong, and say the words I feel

Few words were spoken, except for quiet, sweet confessions that unraveled into the truth. As the sun slowly set, their lips came closer together, then met in a soft kiss.

My beating heart begins to race

When I turn to see your face

I remember that sweet dream which you told to me

I wanted just to be with you

So we could make the dream come true

And you smiled at me… and that was the beginning

“It’s concerning Ash Ketchum.” Misty snapped out of it.

“Um… Alright. G-go ahead.”

“Well… Miss Williams. According to our witnesses, you were the last one seen with Mr. Ketchum.”

“Yes. I was.” Misty sat up straight in her seat, waiting for whatever was going to happen.

“Was he acting at all odd?” Misty shook her head, then bit her lip.

“Well.. He—nevermind. What’s wrong with him? Is he okay?”

Now at last we can talk in another way

And though I try, “I love you” is just so hard to say

If I only could be strong, and say the words I feel

“Misty… He’s dead.” The color disappeared from Misty’s face, and her jaw slowly dropped.

“W-w-what?” She blinked, continually, trying to convince herself that it was a bad dream.

“I’m sorry. We found his body near the edge of a cliff. No signs of anything yet. We still have to call in for an investigations team to see what the cause of death was.” Misty wasn’t listening to a word Officer Jenny was saying, but having flashbacks of the night before. The party, the basement, the hallway and her room. She felt guilty for not giving into Ash and his urges. Even if his senses were on the fritz.

Tell me what you’re thinking of

Tell me if you love me now

I had so much I longed to ask you

But now the chance has gone

After Officer Jenny left, Misty stumbled over to her bag, head throbbing from the news that had been broken to her, desperately trying not to realize the truth. She rummaged through her bag and grabbed a picture of Ash and her at the Maiden’s Peak festival. They were both so happy and carefree, not knowing what would happen in 7 years time. Tears began to run down her cheeks and she started sniffling. She closed her eyes and ran out of her room, running to the nearest cliff.

Once she reached it, she saw an investigation team messing with his body. Brushing it for fingerprints and searching the nearby area for evidence.

“Ash!” Tears began streaming down her cheeks again as she ran to the body, only to be held back by a man.

“No! Let me see him! No!!” She kept up her struggle.

“Hey! Alex! A little help here man! This chick’s a fighter,” the man yelled, getting the aid of another man to help restrain of Misty.

While your picture fades each day

In my heart the memory stays

Glowing bright, you’re always smiling

And I will hold it close…

Misty dropped to her knees, sobbing and beginning to accept the painful truth. Ash was gone. His soul, his spirit, his personality. All that was left was the memory of him and pictures of him smiling. Smiling from ear to ear and feeling happy. That was all. Nothing else. Her tears were the truth. The truth to her love. She loved him with all her heart and her chance to confess… Had passed her by.
