Midnight Scare

Aeris1172

OK, I got this idea after 4-H Halloween camp last year and I just finished it. Yes, I know. I’m a huge procrastinator. ^-^’ Sawree… Well, this story is really short. I MEAN REALLY SHORT! Oh yeah, just gonna rate it PG because of the amount of BLOOD. And well, a tiny bit of kissing… OK that’s just kinda stupid… Whatever! JUST READ IT!!! Well I also don’t own the song Moving On by Sixpence None The Richer! HAHA!! DON’T OWN POKEMON!!

It was a normal night for Ash, Misty, and Brock. Eating their dinner, they talked about where they should go next. Misty sighed, as she got even more bored.

“This is boring!” Misty was being whiney.

“You’ve got that right,” Ash agreed. Brock smirked.

“Ha! You will get to hear a scary story! BWAHAHA!” Brock stopped as his friends looked at him like he was a mutant ladybug from space.

“What?”

“Get on with it, Brock,” said Ash in annoyance. He sat on the log next to Misty.

“No! I hate scary stories! THEY SCARE ME,” Misty screamed.

“No DUH! THAT IS WHY THEY ARE CALLED SCARY STORIES, MISTY!” Ash said, rolling his eyes.

: Heh yes Holliday Lake. And it’s going 2 be the story of Holli: Ash let out all his Pokèmon. You could see the lake but barely. The moon was not visible and it was cloudy.

Ten minutes later, Brock was totally prepared to recite the scary story. He placed himself across the log from Ash and Misty. He cleared his throat and began.

“This is the story of… Holli. Holli was a young girl at Holliday Lake 4-H camp. Rumor is that she died in Holliday Lake. But the real legend goes like this: She was swimming and got pulled under by something. She struggled but couldn’t get out of the water for air. And so…” Brock shut off his flashlight and yelled. Misty screamed bloody murder. Something ran to the lake, quickly. He put it back on laughing.

“Misty, calm down it’s not-“ Brock interrupted Ash.

“Heh… Anyways, she died, turned into an evil green, scaly monster and she lives in Holliday Lake. Sometimes in the morning, when there is mist over the lake, they say it’s her breath. Lets yell for Holli.” On the count of three they all yelled Holli. Even Misty. You could hear something moaning near the lake. Water moved. The moaning got louder.

“AHHH! KEEP IT AWAY,” Misty yelled frantically. Brock gave her an evil look.

Holli came up on land, causing a loud squirshing noise with every step it took. Ash slapped his hand over Misty’s mouth. Misty had learned a trick from Riddel back in Cerulean when she was 8. Riddel was talking about her parents and Kerri (Riddel’s mom) put her hand over Riddel’s mouth and Riddel had licked her mom’s palm. Misty shivered and cringed at the thought of licking Ash’s hand but it would make Holli go away. Hopefully. So she attempted the stunt.

“YEARCHH!!!! YUUUUCK,” Ash screamed, wiping his hand on the grass.

“What the HECK? MAN! WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?” Brock asked, raging because Ash interrupted the terrifying scene. Holli dove back into the water.

“ARGH! MAN!!! HOLLI’S GONE!!!” Brock whined. Ash sighed. Pikachu and Bayleef started laughing.

“God, Misty. You ruin everything!”
”Me? You’re the one who was screaming because of that stupid little trick!”

“Anyone would scream if you licked them!”

“You two are already in a licking relationship? Wow,” Brock said.

“WHAT?!” Misty started strangling Brock.

“Misty!” Ash freaked.

“Gahahahahahhh!” Ash was pulling Misty by the shoulders very hard. Unfortunately for him, Misty shook him off and he fell into the fire.

“OW!” He hopped up and started brushing off his butt. Misty stopped strangling Brock, and turned around.

“Oh, Ash!” Worried, Misty held him by the shoulders, looking over his shoulder, trying to see if his butt was in flames.

“MISTY!” She looked at his face and grinned innocently.

“What?” Ash pushed her a little, his face getting even redder, on account he pushed her right on her chest. Misty looked down at her chest and at him, and as if on queue, her face turned red.

“You pervert!” She walked up to him and smacked him right in the face. Hard. Ash put his hand to his face where she slapped him. It stung, very badly.

“HOLLI’S BACK,” Brock screamed. Misty screamed bloody murder. Then she did the unimaginable. She wrapped her arms around Ash and snuggled her face into his chest, screaming, no, no, no! Ash was shocked, but enjoyed it. He got that feeling in his gut. Ash, of course, just started blushing and drooling. Brock walked up to Ash and hit him on the shoulder.

“Is Ash in love?” Ash pushed Misty away.

“No,” he said solemnly. Misty looked around, and saw that Holli wasn’t anywhere to be seen. She shifted her gaze to Brock, and gave him a threatening look.

“LIAR,” Misty called out to Brock. She stood rooted at the spot where Ash pushed her to, glaring angrily at both of them. “Holli was no where near, and you scared me half to death! Don’t do it again!” Even though Brock had scared her, she had felt extremely safe when she was snuggled up to Ash. She had thoroughly enjoyed it.

“But you- heh, it was so funny!”

“Brock, it wasn’t funny for me,” yelled Ash.

“That’s it. You two are so annoying. I’m going to sleep.” That was the last thing she said, before drifting off into a good night’s sleep… Or so she thought.

It was a beautiful night. The moon was out and the stars were sparkling above Misty’s head in the night sky. The campfire crackled, surprising Misty. She just smiled, though. Ash was sitting beside Misty, staring at the night sky. Misty glanced at Ash, then back at the fire. Ash tore his gaze away from the sky, and started studying Misty’s face. He stroked her cheek, gently. Amazed, Misty looked at him.

“What are you doing, Ash?” She asked, her face becoming warm. Ash smiled.

“Can’t I just look at you and be riveted by your amazing beauty?” Misty was speechless.

“That is the… sweetest thing that anyone has ever said to me,” she said, tears forming in her eyes. Ash wiped them away, and then stroked her cheek again. Before Misty could say anything, he leaned in and kissed her on the lips. Misty felt a rush of happiness through her body, sending shivers up her spine. They slowly broke their first kiss and Misty gazed into Ash’s eyes.

“Ash… I love you,” she said, smiling happily. She kissed him, feeling no care, feeling nothing but his lips against hers and the love inside. She brought her arms around his neck, pulling them closer. As they continued kissing, there was some noise near the water. Misty heard it, but was too enraptured to care. More noises. This time, Misty looked.

Holli.

Misty pulled away from Ash, and her stomach lurched. Holli was slowly approaching the newfound lovers, with an evil smiling forming of her face.

“Die…” She came faster at Ash and Misty, pulled out a rusty old sword, then stabbed Ash. Blood had already started gushing out of his stomach. Misty screamed.

“Oh my god… Ash!!” Ash’s face was contorted with pain.

“I love... you… Mi…st…y…” with that, he went limp. Tears poured out of Misty’s eyes. Holli looked up at Misty and cocked her head. She backed Misty into a tree, and said: “Have a nice death.” Then, swung.

*****************************************************************************

Misty shot up out of her sleeping bag, grabbing her throat. She wiped her head off with her hand. She looked over to where Ash was sleeping, terrified. He was lying there, asleep.

“Ash,” she whispered, and then he sighed. She got up out of her sleeping bag, walked over to him and sat beside him. Pikachu’s ears twitched, and then he woke up and saw Misty next to his trainer, crying over him.

“Pika?” Misty turned around.

“Pikachu! Oh I had the worst dream… Ash and me were talking then Holli came… and-and- Holli killed him… She almost killed me… but-“

“You woke up?” Misty turned around to see Ash sitting up, yawning. Misty smiled in relief, and hugged him tightly.

“Oh Ash…” Ash gasped loudly for air loudly.

“I’m guessing your dream was like mine,” Ash said.

“What? O-oh… Yeah,” Misty said, blushing.

“Yeah, I can’t believe Holli killed Pikachu,” Ash said. Misty pulled away and looked at him quizzically.

“Oh. Then I guess that means that we didn’t have the same dream.” Misty wasn’t happy, but was happy. Glad for the fact that he was alive, but angry for the fact that they didn’t have the same passionate, yet deadly dream. She started gushing tears.

“Misty?” Ash asked surprised, as she hugged him again. He wrapped his arms around her.

“I’m guessing your dream was worse than mine.” He patted her on the back, trying to comfort her. He kissed her on the top of her head. Once he pulled up, he was concerned at his own actions. Misty looked up at him, sniffling.

“What was your dream like, Misty?” Misty pulled away from Ash, blushing.

“I’d rather not say…” Misty scooted away from Ash.

“Oh come on. It would make you feel better once you get this thing off your chest.” Misty sighed. She couldn’t help it. He was always so positive about things and it made her want to open, like a door.

“Fine, fine… Just don’t laugh. All right. So you and I were sitting on a log in front of the campfire. And Brock and Pikachu were off to get wood. Togepi was asleep. Anyways, I was looking at the fire and you were staring at the sky. Then- oh god. I can’t tell you. It’s too embarrassing.” Ash patted Misty on the knee.

“Misty. You can tell me anything! I am your best friend after all, riiight?” Misty was so convinced. So, she started blurting.

“It’s- really- err… passionate and scary.” Misty started blushing.

“Ohhh… wait. Passion… Between… Uh- you and I?” Misty lowered her head down to her knees, with her face burning up.

“And then Holli came and killed me, you said? Excuse me, but there is a real big difference between passion and talking, thank you very much.” Misty laughed. There was a long awkward silence.

“So, uh… Was I a, uh, good kisser?” Misty cracked up at this. Out of all the stupid things Ash said, this was the dumbest. She pulled her head up and stopped laughing, immediately.

“Well… yeah…” Misty said. Ash scooted over to Misty, on account he had a little surprise in store.

“Hey, well… I have a question…” Misty looked over to Ash. Ash was grinning ear to ear.

“What?”

“I was a good kisser… right?”

“Uh-do you have short term memory or something Ash?”

“I guess that’s a yes.” Misty rolled her eyes.

“Soo,” Misty said, with a slightly confused look on her face.

“So… Y’know…” Misty’s eyes became wide with shock. Surprise was right…

“Ashton Ketchum… Kissing Misty Waterflower? Oh right… Like that will-mhrhonh!” Ash had set his lips on Misty’s, creating a heavy blush to fall over Misty’s face. She was blinking in confusion. Ash pulled away from Misty, grinning. All of a sudden, there was maniacal laughter coming from where Brock’s sleeping bag. Ash flipped around, to see Brock… laying on his sleeping bag, covered in blood.

“What the he-“ Misty screamed, causing Ash to jump.

Holli!

She was holding Misty to her knees, with a rusty old sword to Misty’s throat, grinning. Ash’s breathing stopped, as Holli slit Misty’s throat. Misty immediately went pale, then fell face down, onto the ground. A puddle of blood surrounded her head area. Ash noticed he wasn’t breathing, himself, then gasped.

“Oh, is little Ashy afraid?” Holli started laughing. She flicked her sword to the side, causing blood to splatter on the ground. She grinned, evilly, getting ready to cut Ash into tiny pieces.

“Seeya…” ………

Holli swung.

Ash shot up out of his sleeping bag, grabbing his chest. He was covered in sweat, and he was terrified. He turned his head, slowly to Misty’s sleeping bag. She was sitting up, holding her throat.

“Misty!” Misty looked up at Ash. Ash smiled in relief, then put his hand to his head, plopping back down on the sleeping bag. Misty scampered over to Ash. She smiled, then broke out in tears, embracing Ash. Ash returned the hug, knowing what happened.

“It’s okay Misty…” She hiccupped.

“N-no I-it-s n-not! I’m s-s-so sc-sc-sca-scared…” Ash stroked her hair, causing her to calm down. He kissed her softly on the forehead. Misty wouldn’t stop crying. And when she did, she would tell him about her dream, then start gushing tears again.

Ash felt the same way, but wouldn’t cry. ‘Big boys don’t cry…’ His Mom had said to him before he started his Pokemon journey. Ash sighed and wrapped his arms around Misty. It was going to be a long night.

The next morning, Misty and Ash kept avoiding each other. They didn’t seem to want to think or even talk about what happened last night.

“What is up with you two? You’re usually fighting by now.” Brock started talking to Ash about it.

“I don’t wanna talk about it. Awful dreams.” Brock began to chuckle.

“Both of you had bad dreams? I though Misty would just have them.” Ash growled at Brock and walked away.

“Hey,” Brock said.

“What?”

“… CHICKEN!” Brock bust out in hilarity.

“Why don’t you just shut the he-OOF!” Misty grabbed Ash by the wrist and pulled him behind a tree.

“Ash…”

“Misty! What?” Misty just stood there, holding Ash’s wrist, staring into his eyes.

“Misty…”

“Why?” A confused look fell upon Ash’s face.

“Why what?”

“Why did you comfort me last night?” Ash was stuck there. Either he told her the truth or a lie. A lie would be so much easier!

“Because you’re my best friend.” He got out of that situation.

“Thank you… But… Why… Did you… kiss me?” Misty propped herself up against the large oak tree, waiting for his answer. Ash had  kissed her on the forehead to calm her down. He pondered it for a sec before his heart took control of his mouth.

“Because I love you.” Ash covered his mouth in shock of what he had just confessed. He hadn’t planned on revealing it… Well, at least not that  soon. Misty let go of Ash’s wrist, and stared at him. His face was red and his eyes were wide. She blinked about 20 times and shook her head.

“R-re-really?” Ash looked down and tipped his hat to cover his face.

“Ash. Answer me.” Ash wouldn’t say anything.

“Ash…” He looked up and nodded sheepishly. Misty smiled and grabbed Ash, pulling him into a passionate kiss. Brock was walking by with the plates from breakfast. He turned his head towards Ash and Misty, then dropped the plates, causing them to shatter into a million pieces. Ash and Misty quickly pulled away from each other, blushing. Misty tilted her head towards Brock. He was standing next to Pikachu, who also had it’s jaw hanging open.

“It’s a new beginning,” said Ash, pulling Misty in for another kiss.

It has gotten to my head

Permeates the path I tread

But I tread I’m moving on

In a new and happy song

I can sing about the night

How my tunnel without light

led me to the other side

Where the sky is blue

It’s all I can do to

Not let them ruin me

I will not let them ruin me

I will not let them ruin me, again

There is fire inside the tree

Flames of knowing kissing me

I have waited to see

A sign from you

It’s all I can do to

Not let them ruin me

I will not let them ruin me

I will not let them ruin me, again
