Chapter One: Reawakened Fear

A solitary dark figure wandered the shadowed streets of the destroyed town as if it was searching for something in the rubble.

It suddenly turned around as if someone had poked him in the back and reacted instinctively.

“Whore”, it muttered under his breath.

He flipped of his hood and crouched down before flinging off the mantle that covered his now-revealed athletically muscular body.

“This has been a long time coming”, he sneered as he took three steps in a run and leaped up.

A purple bolt of energy raced up from nowhere and slammed into him. He landed heavily, but without making a sound.

“Now, now. You know it isn’t right for someone to attack while there opponent has there back turned.” A female voice called “Assassin.”

“But you should know I don’t play fair? Shouldn’t you, Sabrina?” he whispered.

Another purple bolt blasted out of nowhere as a figure gradually faded into view.

“Trying to be modest won’t help you if you do try to succeed.” Sabrina stated firmly.

“Well, how but me being immodest.” He snarled leaping towards her with a black katana in hand which appeared from nowhere. “Shadow Flare!”

A black fire leapt forth from his katana onto the soil burning everything in its path and growing quickly.

Sabrina clicked her fingers, disappeared and then reappeared behind him.

“Now Ashura, that wasn’t very nice,” Sabrina said as though Ashura was her son.

“Get out of here, haven’t you done enough?” Ashura growled.

Sabrina frowned. Then she smiled, clapped her hands once and disappeared.

Ashura knelt down, picked up his cloak, put it on and sighed.

‘Why does she have to be so difficult,’ he thought. ‘I thought she would’ve left me alone by now!’

“Life has everything in funny ways, Ashura. Don’t regret it.” Said something walking out of the darkness surrounding Ashura.

“Pikachu,” Ashura sighed “how many times do I have to tell you?”

“Yeah, yeah, ‘to stop being so damn wise’” A Pikachu said walking up to the black figure and leaping up onto his shoulder. The strange thing was that this Pikachu was midnight-black and had deep, sapphire blue eyes instead of the usual brown eyes and yellow fur.

Ashura walked back to where he was before Sabrina appeared and kneeled down shifting rubble aside. Such was the search that when Ashura finish every cubic centimetre, he looked again.

“Pikapi!” Pikachu sighed as Ashura started again, reverting back to its natural language.

Ashura stopped. He turned around with a look of contorting fury upon his face that the Pikachu started sweating.

“I told you not to call me that anymore” Ashura growled.

“Pi,” was the reply.

“Fine, because it isn’t here we have to go to-” he broke off, his voice faltering.

Pikachu turned around giving Ashura a questioning glance.

Cerulean City” he finished, voice full of emotion.

Pikachu shook his head in disbelief and started walking east.

Ashura sat down and clenched his hands.

Black lightning spurted out from between his clenched fingers and awoke him out of his reverie.

“Are you coming or what?” Pikachu called out.

Ashura leapt up and followed Pikachu, replacing the hood on his head as he did so.
