Missing you around Christmas
by Aideen Cato

Where would we be without Christmas?
Where would we be without the snow?
I don’t care that much about the presents...
But there’s one thing I care about more...

Being around you is all I need,
Maybe even more.
The cold is blocked from my senses,
when you come near me in the snow.

When you speak my heart flies,
high into the snowy weather.
Will you walk with me?
I sure could use your company.

The presents under the tree are pleasant,
I could wait forever to open them.
But some others would disagree,
I just thought you should know.

Christmas in the city isn’t all that bad.
The walks in the park and window shopping,
It sure does seem a little nice.
Don’t you think?

I liked it with you at Christmas,
I wish I could be there now.
Sitting with you under the tree,
sure does create fine memories.

I miss you around Christmas,
who do you spend with it now?
I wish I could spend it with you,
just once more-somehow.

Christmas with you,
seems like a far off dream.
One I can never catch again,
forever in my lifetime.

I miss you around Christmas,
I wish I could be there again.
But things change and people part,
I do wish it never happened to us.

My Christmas gets more difficult,
to spend without you.
Will you come back just one more time?
Please say yes...

Never again will I spend my Christmas,
with you by my side.
those days are long gone,
I wish they never died.
Our time was Christmas,
long ago.

I remember presents,
and long hours in the snow.
I still can taste the cookies,
and smell the tree’s pine.

Where would we be without Christmas?
Where would we be without the snow?
If I had just one Christmas wish,
one just for me.
I’d wish we were together,
just once more under the Christmas tree.
