Brock, who was consistantly fallin in love, had actually found a girlfriend and was enjoying her company. That was until she had to leave, but she gave Brock her phone # so she could call her every night. May was currently dating Drew, after he toldMay his feelings after a pokemon contest. Even Max. who wasn't interested in love at first had mangaed to find love, even if he still hadn't told her yet. However, Ash, seemed to be depressed. Although not blatently obvious at first. Eventually everyone had noticed how withdrawn Ash had become from his pokemon training, even going from town to town seemed to disharten him. The large group had been traveling togather for about a week before Ash's current attitude had genuinly concerned Brock. Brock had known Ash for four years now and he knew that Ash had been depressed before, like when he had let Butterfree free outside of Vermilion city or when he had let Larvatar go with its mother after taking care of it for so long, but those times didn't compair to how Ash was feeling now. It was earlier in the week that the gang first stopped off at Fortree City so Ash could challange the gym leader when, Ash said "Thats ok guys, I dont feel like doing any Gym battles right now." This had caught Brock, Max, and May off guard. Ash had never turned down the oppurtunity to be in a gym battle. Brock know Ash long enough to know that something was wrong, but he figured that Ash would get over it soon. Other than that Ash seemed ok, if a littel drawn away from his regular routene. Brock knew how to cheer him up though. He would make Ash his favorite food for dinner...Good old fashion cheese burgers. Brock knew that absolutely nothing in Ash's life could mean more to him than one of Brock's burgers. Everything was cooked just so Ash couldnt resist them. He even went as far as to put the spices right inside the burger patties so that the smell would force Ash back to his normal self. As Brock finished cooking he looked up to see four drooling mouths. One of which was May, who's appatite was so similar to Ash's it was almost frightening. As Brock looked around he expected to see Ash drooling just as the others were, however, Ash was nowhere to be found. "Hey Max do you know were Ash is?" asked Brock "I think he's over there." replied Max as he pointed to a large boulder. On top of the bolder was Ash, looking aimlessly into the sky. "Hey Ash dinners ready, its your favorite." Brock called out in hopes of getting Ash's attention. "Thanks Brock, but im not hungery." Brock was flabbergasted. "D-did Ash......j-just say......he's.....NOT......HUNGRY!?!?!" Brock could barely breath. Ash had never, in the four years that they had traveled togather, had Ash ever refused a meal, And even if the world was in danger, Ash would stop to eat one of Brocks burgers. "Y-you guys go ahead and eat, im gonna go check on Ash." stated Brock. Brock had walked over to Ash to hear him humming some song. "Hey Ash, you ok?" Asked Brock with a deep concern in his voice. Ash sighed and said, "I think im ok, its just....i dont know....Something just dosn't feel right. Everything just feels like someones missing." as he looked down at his concerned friend. "Listen, i'll be honest with you Ash, I know how you feel about Misty, and I know that you miss her, so why dont we call her and see how she's doing?" Asked Brock whole-heartedly. "Are you kidding me?! Do you know what time it could be in Cerulian city? and besides.....I doubt she even thinks of me the same way I think of her." Exclaimed Ash as he turned his head away almost out of shame for wanting to call Misty. "Suit yourself Ash, but i think you should call her, if nothing else just to say hi." said Brock as he walked back to the rest of the group. "I cant call her, it would just hurt too much to just say hi and leave her again." Ash just cringed at the thought of it. "Hey Brock, is Ash alright, he seems really upset." Asked May concerned for hir friend. "I dont think so...He really seems to be missing Misty." replied Brock thinking of a way to help his friend. "Well what can we do? I mean its not like Misty has any reason to come here. And besides I dont know is she knows how Ash feels about her." Said Drew, who had finally gotten interested in the conversation. "What we need to do is figure out a way to let Misty know how Ash feels about her without Ash knowing what were doing, that way Misty comes running right into Ash's arms. Plotted Max, who had some ketchup stains on his shorts, from his burgers. "I got it!" exclaimed Brock with a wicked smile on his face. "Hey Drew, you got a PokeGear?" Asked Brock. "Yea but what are you gonna use it for?" asked Drew as he gave Brock the device. "Don't worry, I got it all planned out." After dialing a number and waiting for an answer Brock finally got Misty to answer her videophone. "Hey Brock, long time no see" started Misty. "Yea it has been a while, so hows the Cerulian gym doing? asked Brock, only slightly concerned. "To be honest...its been awful here Brock. Their havn't been any new challangers for nearly three weeks, and the gyms falling appart." Misty was obviously stressed about the state the gym was in. "wow thats terrable Misty. I guess things are going bad for you as well." said brock almost grinning at how easy this was going to be. "Really, so things are going bad for you guys too." started Misty. "Well not really for everybody, things are only bad for Ash." Misty's interest was suddenly peaked. "Is Ash ok? Did anything happen?!" Misty was so concerned about Ash that she was starteling the pokemon in the gym. "Dont worry, Ash is ok but...he's been really depressed lately. He's not training, he's not batteling in gym matches any more, he's not even eating, he actually turned down my cheesburgers." It didn't even take Misty an instant before she knew how serious things were. 'If he isnt even eating Brocks cheesburgers, who knows how bad this could be.' Thought Misty. "I don't know for sure but I think its because Ash misses you Misty. Said Brock, trying not to laugh but still sounding serious. Misty almost blushed when she heard what Brock said. "Are you sure he misses me? I-I mean are you sure its not something else?" Misty asked nervously. "Well I know its someONE, and I can't think of anyone else Ash would be singing about." "s-singing? He's actually s-singing?" "Here listen In and you'll hear what i mean." replied Brock as he snuck up behind his lone friend. As Misty listened closely she began to hear what she thought was humming then it grew louder until she could hear the words.... Empty, spaces, fill me up with holes.. Distant, faces, with no place left to go.. Without you, within me, I cant find no rest.. Where I'm, going, is anybody's guess.. I tried, to go on like i never knew you.. I'm awake, but my world is half asleep.. I prey, for this heart to be unbroken...but without you all I'm going to be is INCOMPLETE. humming* Voices, tell me, I should carry on.. But I'm, swimming, in an ocean all alone.. Baby, my baby, its written on your face.. You still, wonder, if we made a big mistake.. I tried, to go on like i never knew you.. I'm awake, but my world is half asleep.. I prey, for this heart to be unbroken...but without you all I'm going to be is INCOMPLETE. I dont mean to drag it on...but i cant seem to let you go. I dont want to make you face this world alone.. I tried, to go on like i never knew you.. I'm awake, but my world is half asleep.. I prey, for this heart to be unbroken...but without you all I'm going to be is INCOMPLETE. humming* incomplete. humming into silence* Misty was speechless. It was the most romanticly sad thing she had ever heard. She hadn't even realized that she had turned off the videophone until she came back to reality. "I have to know, I have to find out if Ash was singing that song for me." Misty decided to call Brock back so she could Ask Ash. She tried to call the number but, their was no response. She needed to know where the call came from so she went to Officer Jenny and gave her the number so she could have someone track it. The number had last called from halfway between Fortree and Lilycove City. 'Now I know where he is, I just need to figure out how to get there' thought Misty. "Do you think she's coming Brock?" Asked May inquisitively. "Well if I know how pig-headed she can be, she won't stop until she finds out that Ash was singing that song for her." Brock smirked. He knew damn well Misty was coming. He also knew that he was putting Ash and Misty in an awkward situation, but he also knew that if he didn't do this, that one of his friends may just end up hurting himself. "Hey Pikachu, why do you think ive been so depressed lately?" Asked Ash, as he sat on the giant bolder. (Do you really even have to ask?) replied Pikachu, with a slightly mocking tone. "I guess that Brock was right then." sighed Ash. (OF COARSE HE WAS RIGHT!!! Have you ever known Brock to be wrong about something like this?! And besides, this attitude hasn't just been recient, You've been acting differently ever since Misty left to be the leader of the Cerulian Gym, sure, their was a little change at first, but now you do things without even knowing it.) yelled Pikachu, knowing full well what he was getting at. "Yeah right, If I would do things without knowing." Mocked Ash. (Oh yea? well how about this what happned last Tuesday when you you were talking to May and Max about the Kanto region and you, just happned to mention Misty about 32 times. Oh and lets not forget that three days ago you were fishing. You absolutly refused to use the lure that Misty made you, You said that you didnt want to use it because it wouldn't work, but I know you Ash, you didnt want to use that lure because you didn't want it to get damaged. You wanted it to remain perfectly intact.) Ash was blushing, he knew that Pikachu knew him too well, and that Pikachu was right. He didnt want that lure to get damaged, he treasured that lure like it was part of his own heart. But before Ash could try to lie his way out of this, Pikachu continued. ( And i can't tell you how often you have kept me awake at night this week while you were taking about Misty in your sleep. Its always " Oh Misty.....I love you so much" and "Oh Misty yes...just like that." Sometimes Ash, I worry about you when you dream about Misty.) Ash's face was redder than a sunburnt charizard. (AND NOW LOOK AT YOU ASH!! LOOK AT WHAT YOUR DOING!) Ash looked down at his hands to see that he was knitting. He wasn't just knitting anything, he was knitting a coat for the little Misty lure that he had recieved. (Ash, if Misty were here right now, she'd tell you to stop. No, I take that back. If Misty were here right now, I'm sure that you would propose to her!) Ash just looked at his energetic little friend for a moment, then he he reached into his jacket pocket. "Actually, Pikachu....." (OH MY GOD!!!! DONT TELL ME...) Pikachu stared at Ash as he pulled out a little black velvet box and opened it up to reveal a Diamond ring in the shape of a water droplet. (YOU WOULD!!! YOU WOULD ACTUALLY PROPOSE TO HER!!!) "Well you said it yourself Pikachu, I am in love with her" Ash replied looking slightly smug. Ash placed the velvet box back inside his jacket. (So, when are you going to ask her?) Pikachu was curious as to when Ash would have the courage to Misty's hand im marrage. Ash only sighed and said in a dull voice. "I dont know, maby after im done here in Honnen, maby after one more journey. I just really hope that she loves me." Ash was now depressed at the thought of Misty not expressing the same feelings for him that he had for her. (Do you think this is something that can really wait until later, and im sure that Misty loves you. I've known her for just about as long as I've known you, and im sure that she loves you too.) Ash sighed, he knew that it shouldnt wait till later but what was he to do? Surely it couldnt be as simple as walking up to the Cerulian gym and asking Misty if she would marry him. Besides, right now he wasnt sure that he could talk to Misty about love, not after the way he let her go without arguing about her leaving, he even encouraged her to leave and follow her own dreams. Ash was really starting to regret that decision. "Hey Pikachu, lets get something to eat. Maby I will be able to think better on a full stomach." Ash tried to smile but, he didn't seem to have the same smile that he always had. His smile looked...almost sad.almost like he was just trying to fake a smile. Pikachu was somewhat relieved about Ash getting something to eat, yet he knew that the worst had yet to come, and that Ash might never be the same.
