Misty’s View The wind is cold against my shoulders as I walk to the Ketchum’s house. I should’ve brought a jacket. Ding dong. “Hello? Who’s this?” Delia’s voice asks, as she opens the door. “Misty! Oh my goodness, I haven’t seen you in such a long time! You’ve grown so much taller! You’re a woman now! Oh my, how I’ve missed you! Oh my…” Delia said excitedly, putting a hand over her heart. “Come in dear, come in.” “Okay,” I said, overwhelmed, as she stepped inside the door. “Can I please speak to Ash?” “He’s not here right now.” Delia said sadly. “Oh, where is he?” I asked. “He’s on a date. He’ll be back soon.” Delia said. “Oh….” I smiled sadly. “Well, I’ll come back tomor-” “Honey, I was just kidding around. Ash is up in his room. I’ll call him down.” Delia laughed. “Oh! Okay…haha.” I pretended to laugh. “AAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!” Delia yelled. I jumped and covered myr ears. “WHAT, MOM!” Ash called back. “THERE’S SOMEONE HEAR TO SEE YOU!” “TELL THEM I’LL BE DOWN IN A MINUTE!” “NO, YOU COME DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!” “WHO COULD BE SO IMPORTANT!!!” “COME DOWN HERE AND SEE!” “JUST TELL ME!” “MISTY!!!” Muttered cuss words could be heard, followed by the sound of someone stumbling, falling, and breaking quite a few objects. Finally, Ash walked down the stairs. “Hi, Misty.” Ash said. “Hi, Ash.” I said, “Can I talk to you?” “Sure.” Ash said calmly. Delia watched them with a smile. “Mom?” Oh, kids these days..Delia thought. “Mom?” I remember when I was like that.. “Mom!” “Oh, what, honey?” Delia asked quickly. The look on Ash’s face told her: GO. LEAVE. GIVE US SOME PRIVACY. “I’ll go bake some cookies!” Delia said, and swiftly walked out of the room. “Ash…I just wanted to say I’m sorry. You were so nice to me when I wasn’t nice to you and I’ve treated you so badly and I wanted to just say thank you for everything and…” “Misty, I think I love you.” Ash blurted out. I looked at Ash, surprised. I was frozen. But then, slowly, a smile made its way onto my face. “Oh, Ash!”
