Sara’s View Why do I see rose petals scattered on the ground? Oh, duh. I bet Drew sent them to her! She cried, knowing that she didn’t like him. Man, I should be a detective! I rock! And I guess she ripped the card in half. I find the first half. It says: “From: Drew” on the top, then on the bottom: “To: Miss” Huh! Guess he spelled her name wrong! Odd. They’ve known each other all their lives. Now I really don’t feel like heading to the mall. I want to find the other half of this! Poor Drew. Apparently Misty doesn’t like him. I should go comfort him…Gary’s car pulls into our driveway. Yes, I am going to the mall. I go around our house and leave the back way. I told Drew I’ll meet him at the movies in the mall. Misty’s View Oh, great. Gary. Just who I want to see. He comes to the door. I leave the back way. Maybe he won’t see me..Yes! Victory! Gary did not see me. I guess I’ll head to the mall…Uh-oh! I think Gary sees me! “Noctowl, come on out! Fly!” I yell quickly. Phew! I’m in the clear! Wait, there’s Drew and Sara! I run behind a plant. They’re making their way to the movie theatre in the mall. I watch as it reaches the climax. I hate scary movies. Apparently, Sara doesn’t. Wait. What’s Drew doing? Sara’s View Drew just yawned. What, is he not enjoying the movie? I hate scary movies. I thought he liked them! Wait, that wasn’t an ordinary yawn. It’s the fake yawn. Oh, no. He’s putting his arm around me. I get up. “I, um, have to go to the bathroom.” I say. He nods. I leave. And what do you know? I bump right into Misty! She was spying on me! I grab her arm and pull her into the bathroom with me. Misty’s View “What are you doing?” Sara hisses at me. “Uh, protecting you?” I say uneasily. I try to hold back my tears. “From what?!” Sara asks me. “Dr-D-Drew!” I start bawling. Sara looks shocked. “What are you talking about?” She asks uneasily. “The milkshake, the fake-yawn, the roses! He’s in love with you!” I blurted out. “Wait-roses?” Sara glared at me. “They-They came in the mail this morning, they were for you from Drew!” I say, tears running down my cheek. “They-They were?” Sara smiles. “Mm-hmm.” I say. “But, wait. Are you-jealous?” she asks carefully. “Ok, I admit it. Yes, I am jealous you and Drew are a happy couple. You like him and he likes you!” “Like him? I don’t like him! He’s just my friend.” “That’s not whats going on in Drew’s head.” “Well, I’m going to go tell him right now.” “What? Are you insane? You don’t diss a boy like that!” I scream, but she is already gone. Sara’s View Why do I see rose petals scattered on the ground? Oh, duh. I bet Drew sent them to her! I look at him. “Drew,” I say. “I know, I know.” he says slowly. “I didn’t know you, um, liked me that way.” I say quickly. “What? You had me get you ice cream, and not to mention a milkshake! Wasn’t that a sign?” I sigh. “No. I was actually just taking advantage of you.” I sigh. So much for THAT plan. “You USED ME?” Drew said. “Well, yeah, I just wanted someone to get me some ice cream,” I said sheepishly. “Well, um, is Misty jealous yet?” Drew asked rapidly. “What?” I say. “I started to like you. So I asked you out. And I do like you, ok? But then I had another genius plan. I can date you and make Misty jealous all at the same time!” Drew said, pumping a fist in the air. “And I can tell its working.” I stare at him. My mouth is hanging open. He used me! I thought I was bad. “You-you used me?” I ask carefully. “Why else would I date a 15 year old?” he asked calmly. “Because I’m smarter than you,” I say cooly. “How are you smarter than me?” Drew asked, a little nervously. “Because I bought a soda.” I say, dumping it over his head. I stalk out of the room. He can have Misty. They all can. I seriously don’t care. Really. Not. At. All.
