Misty’s View “GO APOLOGIZE. RIGHT NOW.” I tell Drew, pointing to Sara’s bedroom door. “Why? I just told the truth.” Drew muttered. “That’s not the truth. That’s what your little head made up when she didn’t want to kiss you!” “It’s the truth.” “Can’t you hear her in there? She’s crying, Drew. She NEVER cries.” We listen closely, hearing sniffles and bawls coming out of Sara’s room. “Fine.” Drew sneered, and knocked on Sara’s door. Sara’s View “Wh-who is it?” I sniffle. “It’s Drew.” “Go away.” I mutter. Misty’s View Drew walks away from the door and back towards me. “Apologize.” I whisper. Drew tries again. Sara’s View “Look, Sara, I’m sorry. I’m really, really sorry. I just thought that you deserved exactly what I did to you. But you don’t. You didn’t do anything. It was all me. I wanted to go out with Misty, so I decided to make her jealous. And it worked. But I started to fall in love with you and somehow I turned into this really big heartbreaker. And I know today you were supposed to be having the time of your life at your big birthday party. But I ruined that, too. And I’m sorry.” Sniffle. Sniffle. Sniff sniff. Sniffle. “Really?” I ask. “Yeah, sure. Forgive me?” Drew asked kindly. I crack open the door. “Drew, you embarrassed me in front of everyone at my party. Do you know what you called me?” “I’m sorry, I really am!” “Drew, it’s not that simple.” I start to say. “But it can be.” Drew says hopefully. “I dunno….” “I do.” Drew says, and kisses me on the cheek. Misty’s View I wake up and get out of bed. I walk downstairs and see Sara already dressed. “What’s taking you so long? Hurry up and get dressed!” Sara says, ushering me into the kitchen. “Wow, Sara. What’s the occasion? Can’t I come out?” I smirk. “Not unless you want Gary to make up another stupid story about you and him.” “Oh, dear god. What is he here for this time?” I grumble. “He wants to talk.” Sara shrugs. “To me?” I asked. Sara sighs. “No, to me.” Ding-dong. Ding-dong. The doorbell chimes. “Ugh, it’s him.” Sara complains, and thrusts open the door. “Goooooood morning!” Gary says, handing Sara a box of donuts. “Good morning, Gary. What a lovely surprise to see you here.” Sara says. “Well thanks! Anyway, I’ve been meaning to talk to about Isty-May, if-ay ou-yay now-kay hat-way I’m-ay aying-say.” “I don’t speak freak.” Sara says sarcastically. “It’s Pig Latin.” Gary says, rolling his eyes. “Let’s talk Misty.” Now it was my turn to roll my eyes. I was about to say something, but then I realized that I should probably just eavesdrop. “What about Misty, Gary? I’m not hooking you guys up.” “Why not?” “Because.” “Because why?” I wanted to scream BECAUSE I DON”T LIKE YOU, DOOFUS! I watched as Sara danced her way around the tough questions. “If I tried to hook you guys up,” Sara says carefully, “Misty…would….know.” “Hey, you’re right!” Gary says thoughtfully. “I never thought of that.” “What can I say? I try.” Sara shrugs modestly. “Well, how should I seduce her?” Gary asks dreamily. “Hmm… let’s see.” Sara says. “Don’t talk to her for a while, then when she finally talks to you, pretend you’re not into her. She likes guys that are hard to get.” Sara smiles. “You’re sure that will work? That if I do this right, she could be my girlfriend?” Gary asks, his puppy eyes wide. “Oh, Gary, I’m positive.” Sara smirks, then shows him to the door. “Whoa, hold on! I’m not done with the questions yet!” Gary says. “Fine. What’s your question?” Sara asks in a bittersweet voice. “Can you hang out with Paige for me?” “Bye Gary!” Sara yells, then closes the door.
