*11 YEARS LATER* Misty: 28 Gary: 28 Ash: 28 Sara: 27 Paige: 24 Misty’s View “How can he do that and not have to get one leg amputated?” I laugh.. Ash, Sara, Gary, Paige and I were all watching KFM (Kanto’s Funniest Moments). “Oh my god! Did you see that?” Ash asked, cracking up. “I know! That Gyrados totally flipped the boat!” Paige cackles. My insides hurt from all the laughter. These are the kind of nights I like. Gary drops the popcorn bowl. “That Sharpedo has barrettes on!” KFM was now showing funny contest moments. Everyone laughs. “I’ll be right back, k?” Ash tells me, standing up. “K,” I reply. “Yeah, Misty? I gotta go..um..pee.” Gary says quickly, and kisses Sara on the cheek. “I’ll be back, babe.” Gary runs to Ash’s bedroom. “Have fun!” Sara calls after him. “I hope he knows that’s not a bathroom,” I say worriedly. “Ha! Yeah, me too. Hey, I’m gonna get some popcorn, you want some?” Sara asks, and without waiting for an answer, goes into the kitchen. Paige and I are the only ones left on the couch. “So, I need to go call my boyfriend back, I’ll um…see you in a few.” Paige waves as she walks away. I sigh. What’s taking everybody so long? I decide to wait and finish the show. During the commercials I fast forward it and hear voices in the kitchen. “It doesn’t go on your head. It’s a cummerbund, you fool.” I hear Sara mutter. “I’m a girl, I know how it’s supposed to look!” Paige is whisper-yelling. “Everyone shut up, and let’s get this show on the road.” Gary mumbles. I turn the show back on and get absorbed in the funny videos. I forget about the cummerbund, the whispers, the cell phone call. Suddenly, the tv turns off, and Sara and Paige walk out the kitchen door with smiles on their faces. Gary follows them, also smiling. “What are you guys-” I say, but am cut off by Ash walking out the door. I gasp. Ash is dressed in a black tuxedo. His hat is off of his head, and his hair has been combed. I’ve never seen someone so handsome before. Ash walks over to me and gets down on one knee. “Misty, I’ve known you since we were in diapers. But I’ve had the best eleven years of my life dating you. You make everyday worth living for. I love you, Misty. Will you marry me?” Ash says sincerely, looking up at me with his big chocolate brown eyes. I take a deep breath. “Ash Ketchum, you know I will.”
