Part 4

Hours later, at Pallet Town, Prof. Oak is packing his briefcase with some help from Tracey.

Oak: Tracey, did you pack all my research notes in my case?

Tra: Yes, Prof. Oak. But what shall I do with this?

Tracey showed him an old wooden box on which were strange looking letters with eyes etched on it.

Oak: No, this one I’ll examined that when I return.

Tra: Okay, I’ll just place it somewhere safe for the time being.

DDDIIIIINNNNNN!

Tra: Who could that be at this time of the day?

As soon as Tracey left the room, the wooden box glowed and magically lifted itself up from the desk and landed in Prof. Oak’s suitcase. Then it covered itself with some clothes.

Oak: Open the door, Tracey! Oh, my… I’m late!

Tracey opened the door to reveal a suitcase outside.

Tra: Prof. Oak a suitcase wants you!

“Mime!” (Hey!)

Tra: Oh, sorry Mr. Mime.

Oak: What did you say? A suitcase?!

Tra: No, it’s Mr. Mime carrying a suitcase.

Prof. Oak came to the room holding his suitcase with his right hand and briefcase with his left. The sounds of a helicopter were just audible as it approached Oak’s house.

Oak: Mr. Mime? What is he doing here?

De: Hi professor!

Delia said as she appeared at the door wearing a T-shirt and jeans.

Oak: What’s the occasion? Are you going on holiday?

De: No, I’ve just decided to come with you.

Oak: Why? I’m going to meet up some scientists, nothing for a

lady to get involved in.

De: Not when her son is also involved. Besides, I haven’t seen

my boy for months now. And I won’t take no for an answer!

Oak: Okay, suit yourself, but I’m warning you it might be

dangerous.

She nodded and followed Prof. Oak over to the helicopter, as soon as it landed at the heliport.

Ash and the others arrived at Goldenrod City, where they took the Magnet Train to Saffron. Their trip hadn’t take more than 30 min.

And the Pokecenter wasn’t far from the train station.

Mi: We’re here, but where’s Prof. Oak’s colleague?

Ash: Maybe we’re too early.

Br: Maybe not. Look who’s over there!

As/Mi: Prof. Elm?!

Elm: Huh? Oh, you’ve arrived. How nice… well, better move on.

Follow me.

Professor Elm walked outside and got into his private helicopter.

Ash, Misty and Brock followed silently.

As the helicopter flew above Saffron City…

Je: Look, the twerps!

Ja: Those villains! How could they steal from us?

Je: We’re the ones who were supposed to steal, not be stolen from.

Me: Hey, look!

Ja: Isn’t it…

T.R: OUR BALLOON!

They tossed their binoculars away as they ran and jumped into the basket. They were happy to see their favorite air transportation once more.

James lit the gas cylinder of the balloon.

Ja: Where to?

Je: Where else? Follow that helicopter, you bean brain.

Me: Remember those twerps often find rare pokemon and

when we capture one…

T.R: Fortune, here we come!

Me: Meow!

Meanwhile on board the helicopter, as it flew over the ocean, Ash could no longer control his curiosity.

Ash: Where are we going, Prof.?

Elm: To an island, of course.

Beads of nervous sweat appeared on the brows of Ash and co as the Professor continues talking.

Elm: Well, we could have traveled by boat, but it would have taken

days. Bec-

Mi: Okay, we’re going to an island, but why have we been called

to come from the Johto region?

Ash: She’s right. What’s the great urgency?

Br: For the first time, they’ve agreed on something.

Ash and Misty’s cheek redden in embarrassment and as Brock happens to be sitting between them, receives a nudge in his sides from both of them.

Br: Ouch! Ouch! oooh…That’s painful…

Elm: Well, first of all I don’t know.

More perspiration droplets appear on their foreheads.

Elm: But Prof. Oak’s e-mail said that Cinnabar island is in great

danger, because a new pokemon had appeared.

Ash: How do we fit into this mess?

Elm: Well, Prof. Oak asked few trainers to help us out, but it

seems that you’re the only one who accepted…

These days no one seems to have any spare time, even to

save the world.

Br: That pokemon you mentioned. Who is it?

Elm: That’s the main point. It seems it’s a new kind, which means

we haven’t a clue. But with Prof. Oak and me we’ll crack this

case.

Mi: And all this happened in Cinnabar. Where exactly?

Elm: In the volcano. In such heat, this pokemon should

definitely be a fire-type or rock-type, but who knows for sure?

Ash: But isn’t Blaine’s gym inside the volcano?

Br: Yes; of course, now I remember. Blaine and his powerful Magmar, with Charizard fought about 4 years ago.

Elm: At last we’ve arrived and it looks as if we’re right on time.

As they landed Ash, Brock and Misty, as well as Pikachu looked curiously out of the window. There below was the camp with five large blue tents and several outdoor desks complete with laptops, plus heavy equipment for use by the scientists, who were now gathering around campsite.

Brock pointed to one of them.
