Chapter 5- Friend or Foe? Ash stared in disbelief at the man in front of him. It was Gary! Gary! What was Gary doing here? He knew that Brock had said that he had joined the rebellion but he assumed they would never see each other. Actually he had hoped they would never see each other. Gary had matured in the last few years. He wore his long brown hair in a ponytail and a silver Pokeball dangled from his ear. He had grown taller and broader and was very muscular. But older or not it was still that same sneer on his face. No mistaking it. Ever since Ash had beaten him they hadn’t been the best of friends. They had never been the best of friends actually. They had always been rivals and Gary had almost always come out on top. “Ashy boy” he said again “it’s so good to see you.” He had an unpleasant sneer on his face. Ash scowled at Gary and turned to face Brock. Brock shrugged his shoulders and gave him a sympathetic glance. “C’mon” Gary said “let’s go.” “Aren’t we going to eat?” asked Ash. Gary rolled his eyes “never thinking past the next meal are you Ash?” Ash’s face turned bright red as he angrily tried to come up with a comeback. He failed. Gary smirked; he liked putting his rival in his place. “In case you haven’t noticed Ashy, people are staring at you.” Ash hadn’t noticed. “That would be because you have Rocket uniforms on.” “Uhhh” “Ya real smart Ash. We have to go to the mall (if you could call it that) and get you some new clothes.” They walked about a block and Gary told them to wait outside. They did and sat on the bench. Gary was right when he said it wasn’t really a mall. It had only a few stores and was small and dirty. A bit later Gary came out with clothes. Ash was pleased to see there was nothing to ugly. Gary had picked out for him just a pair of jeans and a black shirt. Brock’s and Scott’s outfit were relatively the same as his. He did notice however, that Gary had picked out a slightly revealing top for Robyn. She didn’t seem to care though. They wondered through the city and came to a small restaurant. “Let’s sit outside” declared Gary. “There are tables inside” said Ash. “I’m not blind” sneered Gary “it’s empty inside which means were be easy to overhear. Don’t be so dense.” Ash clenched his fists. Five minutes with Gary and already they were fighting. They approached a small table. Gary raced up to where Robyn was sitting and pulled her chair out. “Thank you” she giggled blushing. “My honor” he bowed. He sat down next to her and nearly shoved Ash down. Ash was forced to sit near Brock across from Gary. He could swear he was staring down her shirt. He had probably “forgotten” to get her a bra. Ash glanced around there were people walking by and a fight provided them with plenty of noise. The only person close to them was a girl lying near a trashcan. When he pointed her out to Gary he just laughed. “She looks dead if you ask me. What’s she going to do? She’s just some homeless little brat.” Ash shot him a death glare but he ignored it. He proceeded to flirt with Robyn. Gary’s a jerk, Ash thought to himself. Gary motioned them in closer. They all leaned there head’s in and Ash could swear he saw that girl move but he was probably mistaken. “Here’s the plan” Ash winced; why did Gary have to talk so loud. “We are going to get Ericka outta Celadon City! She’ll help with the rebellion. And we will defeat Team Rocket. Ash groaned good plan. Real Good! “That’s brilliant Gary. No one outsmarts you.” “Hey,” Gary snapped “you haven’t thought up a plan either. And from what I hear you just joined.” “So?” “So you haven’t done anything. While I have been making plans and helping gym leaders and most importantly- “Hey,” shouted Robyn, suddenly cutting him off. “That girl’s listening.” And she was right the “dead, little homeless brat” appeared to be enthralled in there conversation. Brock stood up suddenly knocking down a chair. Some people walking by stared. The girl seemed to grasp what was going on. She Jumped up and shot away. Hmmmm not so dead after all. Disclaimer-I do not own pokemon. Wish I did though… Please review. That was my shortest part yet. The nest part should be relatively longer.
