Chapter 6- The New Girl The girl began to run. She had a head start and was quite fast. It was pure luck on Ash’s part that when she went to jump over a trashcan he foot hit it. The trashcan fell. Though she was not hurt this surprised her enough, so that Ash could block off the alley way. She tried to turn around but Gary grabbed her and pinned her arms. She began to struggle “let me go” she shouted. “Yah right” said Gary. “I mean it, I bite.” Gary didn’t take this threat to heart and immediately regretted it. “Ouch” he screamed as she sunk her teeth into his forearm. He let her go and she proceeded to run. Ash just managed to grab her pants. “Let go jackass!” He smiled “don’t use profanity little girl.” She snapped back “I’ll use it whenever the hell I want.” He waited and eventually she stopped struggling and quieted down. She also stopped with the string of curses she as letting out. Ash let go of her baggy, black cargo pants, but she didn’t run a way this time. She stared at Ash and he stared back. Her eyes were black. Deep, dark pits of black. She had shortish brown hair pulled into a lose ponytail. It was about shoulder length and uneven as if she had cut it herself. It also appeared to be knotted around her hair band. It was actually a rubber band that she was using as a hair band. She was deeply tanned and oddly thin. Ash assumed she lived on the street. He had to stop staring. “Whaddaya think your doing kid?” Gary questioned. “I could ask you the same thing. Why did you grab an innocent little girl and yell at her?” she questioned right back. “Oh of course you are.” Gary’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “Well, I’m glad we agree I’ll just go now.” She dusted herself off and tried to walk away but Brock and Ash blocked her. “He was being sarcastic” Robyn said. “Well he’s not very good at it” she shot back. “Just who do you think you are?” snapped Gary. She rolled her eyes “I won’t answer you because I suppose you’re being sarcastic again. Not that I really care.” Gary glared at her and she glared back. Her black eyes seemed to penetrate into his and it was Gary who had to look away. Ash was impressed. Gary was quite muscular and intimidating and she didn’t seem scared at all.” Ash leaned down, mistake. “You don’t have to lean down I’m not that short.” Ash couldn’t help himself he laughed. So did Brock and Robyn. Gary however looked furious. “Let’s just do this.” And with these words he shoved her against the wall. “Why were you listening to us?” He was holding her close to her neck but she got the words out. “Considering the fact you were talking so loud the people in the Johto region could hear you. I couldn’t help it.” Ash laughed inwardly. Gary wasn’t used to taking anything from anybody and this little girl was showing him up. Ash stood back up and tugged on Gary’s arm. He got the hint and let go of the girl. She leaned against the wall and began massaging her neck. Ash noticed she had a scar there. Actually she was short. Very skinny too. Scott cut to the chase “what did you hear?” she looked at him with a politely confused expression. Ash didn’t buy it, and neither did Scott. “I mean it what did you hear?” Her expression changed from polite to outright confused. She stared at him like he was insane and mumbled “what are you talking about?” Everyone seemed to believe her this time. Scott looked nervously at his feet and Gary fidgeted. She looked at them strange. They turned to walk away and Ash said “C’mon we need to get going.” They had walked a few steps when she said “wouldn’t want to keep Ericka waiting? Would you?” They turned back around “what do you want” Brock’s voice hit a desperate not. “Money? We have money. Food? What?” She smirked and looked at the older man begging her but didn’t say anything. They sat in silence until “I want to join the rebellion.” Ash wanted to laugh but he didn’t dare. No one breathed. “I’m serious.” She answered the question they had all been thinking. “I want to help.” “No” She stared at Ash. “What?” “How old are you?” “Thirteen, but I’m gonna be fourteen really soon.” She added that last part quickly. “Look, kid, this is serious stuff” she opened her mouth but Ash continued “you are much too young.” Relived that Ash had handled is so well they all turned to walk away. This made her mad. “I’ll tell.” “What” Ash turned to look at her.” She took a shaky breath and continued “Team Rocket would be very interested to know about this. They aren’t in this city, but there’s always a few walking around in cities outside of this.” “They won’t believe you!” She smiled at them. “It was a smug smile, the smile that said I am better than you. “I’ve heard that Team Rocket takes rebellion very seriously. And even if they think I’m joking I’m sure they would wonder where I got a certain piece of information. Like, maybe, there gonna attack Celadon.” She stared at them. They all paled. Team Rocket would take that seriously. “How did you know that?” Ash asked. “You said it, remember. I overheard you.” Ash looked into the little girl’s eyes. He noticed they were not black but dark navy blue that blended in with her pupils. There was no mercy in them. This was a girl who had grown up fighting for a crust of bread. She would tell. He tested her “she won’t tell” he told the rest. The believed him and started to leave. “Wanna bet?” They all looked at her. She would tell, but she was only thirteen what could she do. She was small and slight. Not very muscular she had no Pokemon. “What can you do” Gary asked scornfully.” “I can help. I’m quick and I’m strong and I’m not afraid of anything.” Robyn chuckled “not afraid of anything? Wow, even I’m afraid of something.” “Please,” she whispered let me help.” For a moment she looked like a little kid begging his mommy for some candy. But, in a moment her wide eyed look was replaced by one of tenacity. “Why do you want to help?” Brock questioned “have something personal against the Rockets?” Ash saw something right there in her eyes. It was only there for a second. She did have something personal against the Rockets. That was very interesting. Why would she care? She had most likely met a Rocket. Even if the Rockets took control of everything that town would not be changed. He looked back into her eyes, hoping for a clue. There were none. Ash thought this dilemma over in his mind. “What’s your name kid” asked Brock. She didn’t say anything just glared at him. Brock chuckled “fine I don’t care.” This got her “Lee.” “Last name?” She looked angrily at Ash and snapped “none of your business.” Ash tried what Brock had done “I don’t care anyways.” She grinned at this. First time Ash had seen her smile. “Good cuz I ain’t telling you.” Ash shrugged and looked at the others. Their faces all seemed to say “you chose Ash.” So he did. As much as he hated it he had to let her stay. She would tell. As of now she was proving herself to be pretty clever. He nodded to Brock and Robyn who shrugged back. “You can stay.” Disclaimer- I do not own pkmn Well? I would really like some reviews. Good? Bad? This part was not that long but still it was longer than the last part which is what I promised. Lee should become a main character. Tell me what you think.
