A Jasmine Tinted Dawn Part 3 By Apple Martini Misty stared, just taking in the scene in front of her. Ash, feeling a presence, swiveled around and saw Misty. Instantly, his mind began to panic. What was going on in Misty’s head? Why was she crying? “Misty – it’s not, well, look, Jasmine’s asleep and I didn’t…” Ash said, waiting for Misty to cut him off with her yelling so he could stop trying to explain the impossible. Misty remained silent. She couldn’t even express the emotions she was feeling. “I was just, she wasn’t … She felt hypothermic, I thought she was going to faint, so I tried to keep her warm,” he rushed and said in a panic. “But she’s normal temperature now, so, I have to wait for her to wake up.” But Misty knew he was lying. She had seen the whole thing. “It’s okay, Ash,” she discovered herself saying. “I – I know what happened. I saw it all.” Ash was feeling pretty guilty. He had just tried lying to Misty and she knew the truth - now he was a liar. He had cuddled and probably felt on Jasmine while she was asleep and he felt like a thief. And Pikachu had seen the whole bad example he was making. “Look,” said Ash. “I don’t know what to say. I guess it just happened.” “Are the two of you together?” asked Misty. Ash swallowed. “No,” he replied. It made him feel worse, reminding himself that he and Jasmine weren’t even together and had only re-met for about a day or two, and here he was in this situation. “Are we together?” Ash asked Misty warily. He was afraid of what she might say. If she said yes, it meant he wouldn’t be able to go on with Jasmine like he wanted to. On the other hand, if she said no he would be stuck with her longer. “I mean,” he corrected himself. “Do you think we are?” “I had been thinking to myself we were, technically,” she said. Ash was confused in his heart. He never wanted to hurt Misty, but it turned out like this. She had become well, he had gotten tired of her as a girlfriend. But he still couldn’t hurt her feelings right? Ash was silent. What could he say? “Neither one of us ever said we would get back together.” There was a stirring in the bushes nearby. Jasmine was waking up. She pushed her medium length light brown hair out of her face. Then she rubbed her eyes ever so slightly. “Hi Misty,” she said. “I didn’t know you were coming.” Jasmine stood up and straightened her clothes which had a few fresh leaves on them. The moment was pretty awkward. I mean, what do you say when all this has happened - act like it never did? Jasmine was oblivious to everything that went on, and Ash didn’t want her to find out. She might never forgive him for cuddling all with her without her knowing. And Misty didn’t want to talk about this in front of Jasmine. “We’re going to be late for that tournament,” Jasmine said. “Isn’t Gary entering?” asked Ash. “I think so,” Jasmine replied. “I want to beat him. Are you entering, Misty?” “I might,” Misty said. “You should,” Jasmine smiled. “It’ll be fun.” ************************************************************************ “I’m not so sure,” said Jasmine from behind the curtain. “It’s so skimpy,” “Nonsense,” May told her. “It’s the most adorable swimsuit I ever saw.” “Then why don’t you buy it?” Jasmine replied. “I feel naked,” “Aren’t you the one who said you wanted a sexy swimsuit this summer?” May replied. “You said it yourself.” The group, now, was at the mall. The tournament registration was coming up in about an hour, but they just had to stop here real quick. Jasmine didn’t have a swimsuit she could fit because she had grown so much during her journey, and she wanted to buy an appealing new bikini to match her appealing new figure. Ash wanted a new platinum edition badge case since he had all the badges, and Broch needed more prepaid minutes on his cell. So, to save time, they had split up in the mall. Ash, Misty, and Broch separated from Jasmine, May, and Max. “Just like girls to take all day,” said Broch, coming up with Misty and Ash. Things weren’t as they used to be between them, but they loosened up slowly and got along just fine. They just ignored the whole earlier incident. “You guys aren’t done yet?” “Jasmine is acting like a baby,” May said. “She won’t come out in her swimsuit.” “Fine then!” said Jasmine, attitude changing. “I don’t care. Just don’t laugh, OK?” Ash laughed. “See!” yelled Jasmine. “You’re going to get it,” she swung open the dressing room door with her fist drawn back. Ash instantly stopped laughing. He was stunned. Jasmine in a bikini. She looked gorgeous. He never knew her body was so right. Jasmine was hot - she could be a model. Soft in all the right places, he noticed, and he had never really realized her face was so attractive. Had he been overlooking this all that time? He had always remembered her in a ‘cute’ young kind of way and not a mature kind of beauty. “See? It looks great on you,” May complimented. It was a pink plaid bikini bottom with a matching bikini top that tied around the back of her neck. Jasmine adjusted the bikini top. “Maybe I should just get the tankini.” “No!” all the guys practically yelled. Even Max. Jasmine was still skeptical, but she figured it was alright since she was almost 16. So she changed back into her orange tank top and lite blue low rise jeans. Ash couldn’t think now. Now he saw it - Jasmine had grown so much since he had spent time with her 8 months earlier. Her hair was longer now, and her natural light brown color was even lighter. She walked different. Her preteen acne was gone. So were her childish little braces. Instead were perfectly aligned white teeth. When he had first met her 8 months ago, she had been the rookie trainer. And now she was almost more experienced than him. The group left the mall, ready to continue back towards the tournament. “Did you get your case?” Jasmine asked. “Oh, yeah,” Ash showed her. It was a beautiful silver case with red satin lining inside. He had placed all his badges inside. “I got one of those cases last week,” Jasmine said. She took it out to show him. Hers was black velvet on the outside with her name sewed in gold on it. The inside had gold satin lining. All her badges were lined up inside proudly. “It’s beautiful,” said Ash. He touched it, swiping her hand lightly. She barely felt it, save for the static shock that happened. “Owwie!” said Jasmine. “You shocked me! Look at it!” Ash laughed. “I can’t look at it. You should get a dummy smack for that.” “No, you already hurt me once,” said Jasmine. “Why should you get to shock me and then turn around and dummy smack me?” “You guys, it’s getting dark,” Max observed. “Too fast. I think it’s about to storm.” They looked up. Sure enough, mad thunder clouds were crowding the sky and blocking the sun quickly. “No way!” said Jasmine. “It’s like, summer already.” The rain began to come down. “Get under this rock ledge!” yelled Broch. “Look a blimp!” said Jasmine, pointing in the sky. “That’s not important, who cares?” said May. “But -” said Jasmine, then they were interrupted. In the flash of a bolt of lightning, the blimp had landed and ninjas from inside the blimp wearing letter R’s had jumped them. “Hey!” “Get off me!” They struggled back, but the ninjas were lightning quick. Ash didn’t even have time to instruct Pikachu with a thunderbolt that could have surely saved them. They were loaded onto the blimp like tied up luggage and taken into a dark large room and locked in. Then they felt the blimp leaving ground. The first to speak was Jasmine. “Are you guys OK?” “I’m fine,” said Misty and May in unison. “Me too,” Max said. “I’m here,” Broch said. “Where’s Ash?” said Jasmine worriedly. No one could see anyone, only hear voices. “Right here,” said a voice close to her. “Come over here,” Jasmine was not about to argue. She was alone in the dark and scared, just thankful none of her Pokemon were outside their pokeballs; they were all safely around her waist. She managed to scoot over until she felt a warm person. “Who’s this?” she asked. “It’s me,” Ash replied. He figured now was the perfect time to get close - as a safety mechanism. Somehow, with his hands, feet, and legs still bound, he managed to guide Jasmine over until she was sitting right in his lap. “Can you guys hear where my voice is coming from?” asked Ash. The others began to find there way over, especially Misty. She had been halfway there already. Jasmine leaned back, emotionally exhausted, and leaned her head on Ash’s neck. “I wonder where we’re going,” “Me too,” said May. “I’m scared.” “I’m scared too,” Misty admitted. “I think this is Team Rocket.” They felt the blimp descending rapidly. It turned on its nose and they all went sliding to the complete opposite end of the blimp, which was a scary feeling when you were tied up. “We’re crashing!” cried May, saying what everyone was thinking. Ash fell over on top of Jasmine, and she held on to him tightly, head buried in his neck. “I don’t want to die! My Pokemon are with me!” “Mine are too!” said Misty. “Ash, Pikachu’s here in his pokeball too, isn’t he?” Ash didn’t respond. He was holding on to his hope that they were not about to die in a blimp crash. “I want you guys to know, if we don’t make it, that you guys are the best friends a guy could have,” Broch said. “I love you guys,” “Me too!” said May. “I love you, little brother!” she said to Max. “I love you too, sister!” yelled Max. “That’s right,” Misty said. “If this is the end, at least we’re together! You guys are like my family!” Ash was listening to all the good-bye’s as Jasmine whined softly under him. “Don’t cry,” he whispered to her. “Please don’t cry.” He kissed her on her forehead, then on the tip of her cute nose, and finally on her lips. Just in case they really were living their last seconds of life. And to his surprise she kissed him back. Fully. Jasmine caressed his back and held tightly with all the same energy he was kissing her with. There was no need for words now, only actions. Sometimes actions are better at showing your true feelings anyway. Then a THUD that shook the whole blimp, but didn’t break anything. They heard rumbling, listening with intent ears (except for Jasmine and Ash, they were in a world their own). Then they heard the door slide open as two more tied up trainers were tossed in, and the door was locked again and they felt the blimp lift into the air again. Broch asked the names of the two trainers that had just been tossed in. Adam and Gary. “We were going to be partners in the tournament,” explained Adam’s voice. Broch explained who he was and that the others were here. Gary and Adam made their way to the group and they began to talk to comfort themselves. Heading somewhere that none of them had no idea where they were going - that was pretty bad. Gary said he was sure the ninjas were Team Rocket ninjas too. From all the intense talking no one could hear the kissing and whispering and movement from the corner of the blimp not that far from them. “Team Rocket is up to something no good,” said Gary. “Right,” Misty said. “But they’ve gone way to far this time. They could be going to kill us.” “Yeah, right before the blimp stopped to catch you guys we thought we were going to die,” explained May. About 30 or so minutes later they had went through so many possibilities of what Team Rocket could be planning but had not yet came up with one good explanation. They hadn’t picked anyone else up yet. Max brought up a good point too. Where did team Rocket get some trained ninjas from? They must have been expanding, which means room for bigger and more dangerous plans. “Look,” said Jasmine, “We got to escape.” She, free from her ties thanks to body heat and her flexible catlike-ability, began to untie the next closest person, Misty. Ash untied people too. The funny thing was, he tried to leave Gary tied up but Jasmine untied him anyway. (“Please, can’t we leave him here, Jasmine?” Ash begged.) “We had been doing some talking,” Jasmine told them all in a hush-hush whisper, “and we’re going to break out of this blimp. It’s a metal blimp. But we need all your bird pokemon, water pokemon, ice pokemon, fire pokemon, and fighting type pokemon.” They gladly called out their pokemon. Jasmine and Ash instructed them in wearing a side of the blimp down with the elements until it rusted, and finally the fighting types could break it through. “We got to jump,” said Jasmine. “No matter what!” She grabbed Ash’s hand, who had Pikachu on his shoulder, and the two of them jumped to set the example. Jasmine’s Flygon dove down with them as they enjoyed sailing through the air together. It was a fantasy, everything was so surreal. They were falling out of the sky, and it was so exhilarating and free. When they got close to 250 feet away from the ground Flygon caught them on his back and sat them on the ground. Right behind them Ash’s Swellow came down holding Max and May, Gary’s Pidgeot with him, and Adam’s Fearow with both Adam and Misty. “We’re close to Delta City,” Adam said as they stood around trying to figure out their next move. He had a PokeNav that showed a different area than the rest of their PokeNav’s. On theirs, the map on the PokeNav showed ‘Out of Range’. “Where’s that?” asked Misty and Jasmine at the same time. “It’s a really big, metro city,” Adam explained. “My cousin Mida lives there.” “Let’s go to Mida’s house then,” Ash said. “We missed the tournament, but Mida can help us figure out where to go now.” “Is Nolan a chick or a dude?” Jasmine asked. “That’s a cool unisex name.” “A guy,” Adam explained, as he led them through the compass on his PokeNav. ************************************************************************ “You’re right,” Nolan told Ash. “Registration deadline for all the events has passed.” “So now what?” Ash asked. “The Pokemon league is 4 whole more months away. Do you have any ideas? We want to keep our skills up to par.” “Won’t you vacation, dude?” asked Nolan. “A little relaxation will help you from being stressed and let you spend time having fun with your friends and pokemon.” “A vacation, that sounds great,” Jasmine said. Misty could see under the table where Ash and jasmine were holding hands. She even saw her squeeze his hand. Like a couple or something. “How about California?” Nolan suggested. “Trainers always head to Cali for some winding down time. There is bound to be plenty of excitement for such young eager trainers as yourselves.” “That sounds perfect,” said Broch. “Ash, come on, he’s right.” “I’m not arguing,” said Ash. “Nolan, you can count me in. We’re going on vacation!” ************************************************************************ After resting in Nolan’s house for the night (girls in a spare bedroom and boys on the couches) they were getting up early to board their plane for California. This time they were finally going to be able to relax and hang out while training pokemon. Right before leaving, Misty and May gave each other a handshake to seal their secret deal.
