Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon. This is the first Pokemon fanfic that I’ve written in a long time, so please bear with me. This story only includes Pokemon from Kanto and Johto. This is the introductory chapter. More will be coming soon, hopefully. Hope you like it! ~~~~~ “The Joguro Dynasty ruled most of the Kanto Region for several years…” the teacher’s voice droned on. Derek turned his gaze from the blackboard to the window. He was your average twelve year-old. He had dark hair and eyes. His built was pretty thin but he had an unusual charm about him. He watched the curving road that slithered beside Goldenrod University and sighed. He would give anything to go on a Pokemon journey instead of slowly rotting in his desk in school. Derek was the only one in his group of friends who had stayed behind in the University in order to further his studies. It was all because of someone else’s dream. Professor Edison was a well known archaeologist throughout the region. He was famous for his expertise in decoding ancient Pokemon symbols. However, Derek wasn’t too big on having a renowned professor as a dad. In fact, to him, it was somewhat like being in the military. His parents always had a high expectation of him. Worst of all, his dad wanted him to become a Pokemon archaeologist as well. “Derek, will you please tell us the other name of Tung Sen City?” the teacher said in a booming voice. That awoke Derek from his daily musings. He looked around and sighed. “I don’t know.” His adventurous spirit was never meant to be in the confines of a classroom. ~~~~~ Later that afternoon, Derek was busy packing up his things when something round and shiny fell from his bag. It was a gold medallion with a blue gem in the middle. Professor Edison and his team of archaeologist had recently uncovered an ancient tomb. He had been bringing home several artifacts lately to his lab. Could it be possible that this medallion was one of them? “Dad could be careless sometimes,” Derek grumbled. He picked up the medallion and felt along its engravings several times. He wondered how old the object was. For a moment, he was mesmerized by its strange splendor. Then suddenly, the artifact began to vibrate. Derek felt his whole body tremble vigorously. In fear, he dropped the medallion. In a second, he saw a flash of blue light followed by total darkness.
