The Memories Within an Aquamarine Charizard By Aquamarine aquadragon_@hotmail.com (OT) Part 3 Wee, it has come to the first gym battle! Incredibly boring to write, but whatever. When commenting, make sure you write in ENGLISH and not the freaky chat room talk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- “Shukumei, use Slash!” shouted Maya. It slashed furiously at Flame, who dodged. “Flamethrower!” countered Alex. Flame shot a huge amount of flames toward Shukumei, who dodged. The small crowd that had gathered to watch cheered. Use Wing Attack to make a twister, Maya told Shukumei silently. In a matter of seconds it was ready, while Alex and Flame gaped. “Flamethrower!” shouted Maya. Shukumei directed the flames at the twister. It looked like a fire tornado as it crashed into Flame, who crashed onto the ground. It got back up, but it was significantly damaged. “Crap! Aerial Ace!” shouted Alex. Flame disappeared. When it appears, use Hyper Beam, said Maya. Shukumei gathered the energy. Flame appeared and she fired. It was a clean hit. Flame was again crashed to the ground, but this time it fainted. Alex praised him and called it back into it’s pokeball. The crowd cheered and whistled. Maya grinned. “Beginner’s luck,” said Alex, who also smiled. Maya laughed. “Who’s a beginner? I’ve done this loads of times! I think.” Maya replied. She wasn’t sure, as she couldn’t remember, but she seemed at home battling. In fact, it was like a walk in the park for her. Alex gripped her shoulder. “I think you’re ready to take on Rustboardo’s Gym Leader. If you can catch a water pokemon,” said Alex, letting her lean on him for support again. He took her to a pond on the outskirts of the city. Maya closed her eyes and whispered a challenge. Five minutes later, a surskit appeared. Maya deftly tossed out Shukumei’s pokeball. “Wing Attack.” she said simply. It hit, and she threw out a pokeball. The surskit disappeared into the ball, which wiggled it’s resistance. They heard the satisfying tone as the pokemon was captured. Alex looked at her. He had never seen someone catch a pokemon that fast. “That was amazing, Maya,” he told her breathlessly. She blushed. He beckoned in a way he hoped was serious. She burst out laughing. “What?” he asked. He caught her as she lost her balance. (She temporarily stands with most of her weight on her left foot so not to her sprained ankle. Alex is now her crutch. {explanation complete. Please move on.}) “You can’t pull off serious, Alex,” she said giggling. She leaned on him again. “Come on,” he said sternly, which sent her into another fit of giggles. “Yes, O Wise One.” she agreed, her voice on the break of laughter. *********** Roxanne and Maya listened impatiently to the ref as he explained the rules. Maya looked at Alex, who coincidentally was doing his crutch duty so she could concentrate on the battle and not standing up. He gave her an encouraging smile, and gestured towards the arena. The ref had finally finished speaking. “Go, Geodude!” shouted Roxanne, tossing out her traditional red pokeball. The tough-looking pokemon noticed her. Can you defeat me Stone-sister?, he asked. “Kyuto, come on out!” Maya shouted, tossing out her new surskit. In unison they whispered, Yes. The ref raised his flags. “Let the official gym battle between and Maya begin!” he said, swishing the flags downward. “Rock Throw!” shouted Roxanne. Piles of rock flew towards the little water pokemon. “Dodge and use Waterpulse!” said Maya. It hit, and the pokemon fainted. Roxanne called it back and then sent out another. It met the same fate. “Go, Nosepass!” said Roxanne. Alex stifled a laugh. “Come on, you can’t say that thing doesn’t look funny,” he protested after Maya elbowed him. “Rock Tomb!” shouted Roxanne. As a rock landed in front of Kyuto, Maya shouted silently, Use Quick Attack to dodge, then Waterpulse! It obeyed, and received less damage, then scored a direct hit with Waterpulse. Nosepass lost about half of it’s health. Nosepass staggered around stupidly. It was confused. “Kyuto, your strongest Waterpulse!” Maya shouted. Waterpulse was quickly becoming her favorite attack with her surskit. The attack blasted Nosepass to the ground, and it fainted. Maya hopped up and down in victory, once again losing her balance. Alex caught her while she praised her surskit. Kyuto cooed happily at her before disappearing back into her pokeball. Maya received her badge and the TM Rock Tomb. She scurried back over to Alex and showed him excitedly. They headed back to the Pokemon Center in high spirits, while making plans to fly to Dewford the next day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- The whole chapter was battling. Yippee-skip. The next chapter is one of expanding. Chuck full of surprises. Stay with me! ~Aquamarine~
