The Memories Within An Aquamarine Charizard By Aquamarine aquadragon_@hotmail.com (OT) Part 4B Maya sat up with a gasp. She was still in her bedroll, but it was now on a small sandy island covered with rocks and boulders. She looked around, and didn’t see Alex anywhere. She heard his voice shout something, and ran towards it. Running around a boulder, Alex came into view. He was panting, and looked exhausted. She dashed towards him, and saw he had a plusle fighting some crawdaunt and walrein, their owners being an army of people in blue costumes. “Why didn’t you wake me up, you doofus!” she said, and pushed on his shoulders to make him sit. “Did you even sleep?” Alex looked up, and grinned. “No one could wake you up. I slept! For about two hours.” he said. “How dare you let me sleep while you work yourself to death!” said Maya, slapping the back of his head. “I’ll handle it. Um, who are they?” “Ow! That hurt. Team Aqua. That red-haired lady in the front is their commander or something.” said Alex, pointing. “How’d you know?” asked Maya. “Everyone, no offence, knows who Team Aqua when they see them. And the lady introduced herself as ‘Commander Shelly’ so I made that assumption.” said Alex, rubbing his head. “What do you want?” Maya asked Shelly. “We’re looking for someone--”she broke off, and examined her. “…like you, actually. Mind coming with us, Maya?” “What do you want from me?” asked Maya. “That power of yours, assuming that you are the one we’re looking for. It could help us greatly. You wish to battle? Then fight for your freedom!” The entire squad threw out their water pokemon. All crawdaunt and walrein, how creative, thought Maya. There were about sixty pokemon total, their thoughts and speech nearly deafening her. Maya tossed out a pokeball. “Challa, use Absorb!” her beautifly attacked the nearest group of walrein as Maya threw out two more pokeballs. “Jake, Doubleslap! Kyuto, Quick Attack!” Maya shouted, her skitty and surskit entered the fray. She didn’t call out Shukumei, there were too many water pokemon. She heard Alex throw out his pokemon and give instructions. A flygon, mightyena, plusle, gyrados, and his lapras. Not bad, she thought, as his pokemon attacked. Her mind flicked back to hers. She could feel them faltering. A group of crawdaunt closed in around her, separating her from Alex and their pokemon. The menacing thoughts filled with attacks and-was it pity?- filled her mind. Maya went backwards a step. “Watergun!” shouted a voice. The claws opened. Maya saw Alex break through the pokemon to her left. Two dozen jets of water crashed into her, propelling her backwards. She slammed into a boulder, and the stream stopped,. She slid down the boulder, landing painfully. She opened her eyes, black spots filling her sight. She saw a boy land in front of her and call out a roselia. Then all she saw was darkness. “Maya!” shouted Alex, breaking free of the crawdaunt who had grabbed him. He rushed towards her, almost tried to wake her up, then thought better of it. She was out cold. He tossed out Flame and picked her up. “Petal Dance, Roselia!” shouted the boy. Alex looked his way as the roselia unleashed a flurry of petals that blinded their enemy. Alex whistled. Both his and Maya’s pokemon burst through the petals and jumped into their pokeballs. He was too distracted to think about it at the moment. “She out?” Alex nodded, and resumed putting Maya on Flame. “Pleasantries later, we have to get to Dewford.” said Alex, hopping on Flame behind Maya. The boy called out his swellow and they took off. “Return, Roselia!” the boy said. Roselia kept up Petal Dance until it disappeared into its pokeball. *** Maya awoke and sat up quickly. Alex started, he was sitting near the bed. They looked at each other and each exhaled the breath they were holding. “Alex, where are we?” asked Maya, looking around. “The Dewford Pokemon Center. I rented a room.” said Alex. “How did I get here? What happened to Team Aqua?” she asked. Someone knocked on the door, and Alex smiled. “This is going to take some explaining.” said Alex, as he opened the door. A boy came in holding three cups of cocoa, and seemed to be having trouble not spilling. Alex took two of them and gave one to Maya. “Hey, you’re that guy from before! With the roselia!” said Maya, pointing at him. He had reddish-brown hair, emerald green eyes, a green T-shirt with long sleeves sewn on, jeans, and black VANs. He held out his hand, which Maya shook, being careful not to spill her drink. “Will Anderson,” he said, smiling. “Maya Turner. Oh, Alex, I think I forgot to tell you my last name. Did you know?” Maya said, turning to him. He stuck his tongue out at her as she set down her cocoa. “No, you didn’t tell me, but I knew. I saw it on your registration form.” Alex said slyly. She threw his pillow at him. “Well you better tell me what happened.” said Maya. So Alex and Will filled her in on the events after she passed out. Will ended up telling both of them why he chose to help them in the first place. “I don’t know. I was flying to Dewford and I saw you guys battling desperately down there. Right when I decided to help you, Maya passed out, so I just jumped and landed in front of her. Seemed appropriate. Besides, my roselia provided the distraction so we could get the heck out of there.” said Will, shrugging. Alex put Maya’s pillow back onto the bed in time for her to sink into it. “My head hurts.” she said. “Well, you did hit it on a boulder.” said Alex. “Of course that wouldn’t hurt at all.” added Will sarcastically. “Ha ha. You two are absolutely hilarious.” Maya said coolly. “Anyway I’m ready for my Gym Battle.” “Are you sure you’re feeling well enough to battle, Maya?” Alex asked skeptically, as she got up and began looking for her stuff. Maya stopped and put her hands on her hips. “It’s not as if you are a good example. Half the time you nearly pass out from exhaustion!” she retorted, finding her backpack and putting it on. “That doesn’t mean you should follow his example.” said Will. Maya suddenly felt dizzy and sat down. “What about you? Do you want to travel with us, Will?” asked Maya, tying her shoes. Alex flashed a look at her, then nodded. “Okay. You never know, you two may need my help again.” he said smirking. “But I’ll have little of that lovey-dovey stuff you two are pulling.” Both blushed and began protesting furiously, saying almost the exact same words. “Whoa, you two are in synch.” said Will. They blushed deeper and began doing different tasks of cleaning. In a few minutes they were ready to go, and they headed across town towards Maya’s second Gym badge.
