Misty's Song written by "A Second Cousin To Morty" based on the song of the same name from the album "Pokémon - 2.B.A. Master" Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon or the rights to this song. *** Note: Halfway through writing this fic I discovered that another author on The Pokémon Tower, namely Aussie Wolf, had posted another story based on the same song. Thankfully the two stories are actually very different. I just hope that I can stand up to the writing of longstanding author, Aussie Wolf. *** A young orange-haired girl with large teal eyes dived into the main swimming pool of Cerulean City Pokémon Gym. After a grueling six hours of school, she liked to relax and wash off the troubles of the day. As the nine year old surfaced her short hair fell straight to her shoulders. A young Seel swam up to her and nudged her arm. "Hey boy, Did you miss me?" she asked as she hugged the white Pokémon. "Seel-Seel-Seel," it called with an affirmative. The girl dunked her head underneath the water once more, and climbed out of the pool. She walked over to the pool's changing room, being careful not to slip, and grabbed a spare towel. As she dried herself off, she began to hear music. It was sweet but so soft that the girl had to strain even to hear it. She put a shirt over her blue, two-piece, swimsuit and tied her hair in a quick side ponytail. Hanging the towel up to dry she set off in search of the source of the music. The girl had thought that she was the only one in the gym. Her mother and father were out shopping like they always did on a wednesday afternoon, and her sisters were not back from high school yet. As she got closer to the music she could tell that it was being played on a guitar. She could also hear singing but she couldn't make out the words. As she came even closer, she relised that it was coming from her grandparents room. This confused the girl, as she had been under the impression that her grandparents were in Pallet Town visiting the Oak Labs. As the girl began to open the door, the music suddenly stopped. She suddenly felt like she was tresspassing and began to close the door again. "Come in," said a kind voice from behind the door. As the girl peeked her head around the large teal eyes of her grandmother. "Come in, Jade." The girl's grandmother smiled. "Just because I'm your grandmother doesn't mean I'm an evil witch." Jade opened the door fully and walked in to her grandparents room. The room looked like it had last time Jade had been in it. The dresser was littered with photos of her grandparents and their friends when they were young. There was a poster of an underwater play her grandmother had performed. Also, their was a large wooden mallet leaning up against the wall which had always puzzled Jade. She would have to ask her grandmother about it. The older woman smiled. Even though she was nearly sixty years of age, Jade's grandmother still looked as if she was in her late forties. Only a few flecks of grey in her flaming orang hair. Her body was still thin from swimming and training. Although she had handed over the running of Cerulean Gym to her son, Jade's father, ten years ago, she was still one of the most powerful Water Pokémon trainers in Kanto. She had even been offered a position as a member of the Indigo Elite Four, but she had declined as she had been pregnant with Jade's aunt at the time. "You know, young lady, yoour mother would have a fit if she saw you dressed like that." Jade suddenly became aware that all she was wearing only a shirt and swimsuit. "Sorry, grandma." she began, hurredly, exiting the room, "I'll put..." She stopped when her grandmother put her hand up. "I, on the other hand, don't care." she patted the bed next to her. "Now sit next to me." Jade moved slowly over to the bed and sat down as her grandmother continued. "And, please, call me Misty. Grandma makes me sound so old." Jade nodded as she noticed a steel-stringed acoustic guitar sitting next to Misty. "Gra...Misty?" she asked. "Was that you playing?" Misty nodded. "Yep. I wrote that when I was your age." Jade's interest had been peaked. This was something that she hadn't known about grandmother before. "Really?" "Yeah. It's a love song I wrote for the guy I was crushing on at the time." Jade began romantisizing, in her mind, about her grandparents meeting eachother and falling madly in love at first sight. Misty saw her granddaughter doing this and it reminded her of when she was that young. "So. Do you want to hear it?" Jade nodded her head vigourisly and turned to sit cross-legged facing Misty. Misty picked up the guitar and did the same. She cleared her throat and began strumming the guitar. After playing a few bars she began singing. "Out here in the quiet night Beneath the stars and moon. We both know we've got something on our minds. We won't admit, but it's true. You look at me, I look away. I want to tell you what I'm feeling, But I don't know how to start. I want to tell you, but now I'm afraid That you might brake my heart. Oh, why should anything so easy Ever be so hard to do. I want to tell you what I'm feeling and To say that, I love you. I practice all the things that I could say. Line by line. Every word. I tell myself, today could be the day, But every time, I lose my nerve. I look at you, You look away. I want to tell you what I'm feeling, But I don't know how to start. I want to tell you, but now I'm afraid That you might brake my heart. Oh, why should anything so easy Ever be so hard to do? I want to tell you what I'm feeling and To say that, I love you. Why? Why do you turn away? It must be, your afraid like me. I try, but I can't pretend that I Don't feel for you, the way I do. Can't you see. I want to tell you what I'm feeling, But I don't know how to start. I want to tell you, but now I'm afraid That you might brake my heart. Oh, why should anything so easy Ever be so hard to do? I want to tell you what I'm feeling and To say that, I love you." Misty began strumming slower and finally came to a stop. She placed the guitar on the bed, stood up and walked over to her dresser. After rummaging around for a moment she picked up a photo and began to return to the bed. "Wow." Jade's eyes were wide. "That was beautiful. I never knew you could play like that." Misty handed her granddaughter the photograph. "That's the boy." "I bet granddad really like..." Jade's voice stopped dead as she looked down at the photo. It showed a young boy, about ten years old when the picture was taken. He wore blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a blue jacket over it. His jet-black hair was matted and untidy and a red and white cap was perched on his head. He struck a heroic pose with right hand giving a peace sign while a Pikachu was was sitting on his left shoulder. Jade couldn't understand. It just didn't make any sense. "But, grandma?" she asked worriedly, "this isn't..." Jade stopped again as Misty was failling to stop herself from laughing. "Jade Sketchitt," she chuckled. "Just because I married your grandfather doesn't mean I was always in love with him. In fact, I wrote that song before I'd even met Tracey." Jade was lost for words. All Misty had succeded in doing was confuse her. Misty laughed, the look on her granddaughter's face was priceless. She patted Jade on the head. "Now don't worry about it. You go and do your homework and I'll see you at dinner." Jade got up and walked out of the room very robotically. After a couple of minutes of silence, Misty turned to face the farthest corner of the room, away from the door. "She'll be gone now. You can stop hiding." Almost instantly, a white jet-like Pokemon, materialised in front of her. It was a bit longer than she was tall and it's green secondary coloring sparkled. This singled out the Pokemon as nearly unique in it's speices, as they were usually white and blue. {So that's your granddaughter,} the pokemon stated telpathically. "Yep, that's one of them." Misty answered as she through the photo back onto the pile. Then she rounded on the Pokemon. "So how long have you been waiting there?" {I came in when she did. How old is she?} "Jade? She's nine. Turns ten in two weeks though. Then she's going to go on her own Pokemon journey." {Just like we did. What's she going to take with her, or will she choose a starter from Gary.} "Actually, I was thinking of your daughter." {That's an interesting idea. They're the same age. She'll be the talk of the town though, not many kids have Legendary Pokemon as their starters. How is my daughter by the way?} "She's good. She still hasn't got the hang of the human form yet. I let her fly around during the day. You should find her. She hasn't seen you in six months." As Misty said this, she opened the large window in the room. {I will. See you round Misty,} the Pokemon said as it went up and hugged it's old friend. {And thanks for the song.} "Don't worry, those feelings are long gone." {Good, because it would be front page news. "Water Pokemon Master Falls In Love With A Latios". Plus, I already have a mate.} The Pokemon turned invisible again and launched itself out the window. {Bye, Misty} Misty turned around and looked at her mallet and chuckled. 'You know what, Ash Ketchum.' she thought to herself. 'Sometimes I just wish I could bash you over the head.' +++++ The End +++++ Author's Note: That's my third story published. It's been quite some time since my last. This story, even though Misty married Tracey and Ash has become a Latios, is still about Ash and Misty's relationship. This comes from originally being a Pokeshipper then switching to an Altoshipper when I watched Pokemon - Heroes. Wait? Ash has become a Latios? How did that happen? That story is coming soon. P.S.: Reviews Please.
