I’m really a nice guy. (Written 31 March 2008) By “A second cousin to Morty” Email: gorgsavethequeen@yahoo.com.au *** Before you, as the reader, embark on another sappy love story by me, I want to get one thing straight. This romance is not between to characters from the anime. My first commitment is to the games. That being said, all my fanfics are part of one long story, they all link together somehow. I just haven’t put the link in yet. In this case, the story is based off two characters from the game, specifically the Generation 2 games (Gold, Silver, Crystal) *** Ages: Kris Teal 13 Silver Ariel 16 (Yes, I invented the last names) *** Mount Silver. Possibly, the highest peak in the entire Johto region. Home to wild Pokemon that had the power to take on the Elite Four, even without training. The mountain itself had a large complex cave system inside that had been largely unexplored. And Kris was, stuck, waiting outside. Her traveling companion had been invited to battle one of the most powerful trainers in the land. But the invite had said that he must come alone. Kris didn’t like to be left alone, so she had accompanied Gold to Mount Silver and now waited for him to return. Kris sat on a bench that faced the Pokemon Centre and stroked her Quilava, which sat in her lap. Quilt, as she had nicknamed it, was the first Pokemon she had ever truly owned. She had received it from Professor Elm when she had to run an errand for him. It had evolved from a Cyndaquil when she had faced Bugsy in battle, and thanks to the Everstone tied around its neck, it could no longer evolve into its final form of Typhlosion. Kris also had let her Suicune run around in the grass. She had caught it over a year ago and had slowly managed to capture Entei. Gold had caught Raikou which he traded to her for her Porygon2. But even reminiscing about her humble beginnings as a Pokemon trainer from New Bark Town, could not help her restlessness. Quilt could sense how she was feeling. “Quil-Quilava-Quil,” the fire-type Pokemon growled, softly, to her. Kris looked sternly at her long standing partner. “Just because you’re friendly with his Flareon doesn’t mean the felling is mutual, Quilt. I worked out a long time ago, he’s not my type.” “Quil-Quil-Quilava.” “Quilt, I respect the fact that you’re male, but that just means you can’t understand how I think.” “Quilava.” . Quilt leapt off Kris’s lap and looked around for Suicune. Kris thought about Gold for a moment. When they first met she thought she had feelings for him, but after a while she relized that Gold didn’t have what she was looking for in a man. Even at thirteen, she was very selective about the right man for her. Suddenly a Crowbat flew over her head. She thought that it was odd because Crowbat were seen only very rare in the wild, because of the nature of their evolution. Kris was almost certain that this one must have been trained. Kris turned around to see a young man wearing long pants with boots and a dark sweater. But the one thing that made Kris recognize this man without a doubt was his long red hair that fell to his shoulders. Three years older then she was, this boy was her rival ever since she began Pokemon training. He had been the one to steal a Totodile from Prof. Elm. His name was Silver. Immediately upon seeing him, Kris leapt to her feet and Quilt put himself in a battle ready stance. Silver held his hand up. “I don’t want to fight,” he said, “I just want to talk.” “Quilava-Quil Quil-Quil-Quil Quilava,” Quilt growled harshly. Kris eyed Silver warily. “How do I know I can trust you?” “You can’t. I just want to say one thing” “Speak, then.” “In private, please.” Kris didn’t know what to make of Silver’s attitude. He was usually cocky and rude. But now, he seemed uncertain and uncomfortable. Kris felt something inside her that she had not felt for this boy before. “Okay then. Quilt, could you give us a minute,” she said to her Pokemon. “Quilava Quiiill.” with that, Quilt went off to look for wild Pokemon to battle by himself. Kris could tell that he wasn’t happy. Silver walked over to the bench and sat down. He motioned for Kris to sit next to him but she didn’t feel like sitting just at the moment. “So what is it you want to say?” Silver looked deep into Kris’s forget-me-not blue eyes and said, “First you have to promise that you will not speak until I have finished.” Kris’s expression changed from hostile to curious as she nodded for him to continue. “First, I want to apologize for all the terrible things I have said to you in the past two years we’ve known each other. In truth you are one of the greatest trainers I have ever met or battled against.” Kris wasn’t sure where this talk was going, but she decided to keep quiet. “Secondly, since I was beaten by Lance, I have been rethinking my actions, especially the ones concerned with training my Pokemon. I realize that love is needed and that is what I have strived to achieve.” Silver then looked at the ground, because of sadness. “I did not grow up with much love in my life. My father never even cared if my mother of I existed after I was born. In truth I have not seen my father since I was six. I was raised solely by my mother. Then three years ago, she died.” Kris realized that Silver was crying. Without thinking she sat down and put her arm around his shoulder. She didn’t know why, but for some reason she knew that he was telling the truth. “I’m sorry if you don’t feel the same way, but the truth is that I love you.” Kris almost jumped back. She couldn’t believe the last three words that had just come out of this young man’s mouth. “I know that it is nearly impossible that you feel the same way, but I had to tell you.” Kris looked deep into Silver’s eyes and did something that she never thought she would do in a million years. She pressed her lips up to his and kissed him. Slowly and softly, Silver kissed back. There was nothing erotic about the kiss. It was loving and kind, and he didn't try to take advantage of the younger girl. Then Kris realized something important. This was the first time she had kissed a boy. But she didn't care. She had finally found someone who loved her. It was just a surprise that it was Silver. When the kiss ended the pair just looked into each other's eyes. *** Quilt heard and saw the entire ordeal. One of the bonuses of being just less than three feet tall was that it was easier for him to hide. Quilt admitted that Silver's story was touching and he knew that Kris was not easily fooled. came a low growl from behind him. Quilt turned around to see Silver's Feraligatr behind him. Quilt looked quizzically, The fire Pokemon looked at its long standing rival, *** Eight Years Later *** The door to Professor Elm's lab burst open. Silver stood, after kicking it open, wearing a tuxedo, with a girl in a wedding dress in his arms and a smile on his face. He put the young, blue-haired woman down. "So, Miss Teal, how does it feel to be a married woman so far?" He asked his bride. Kris laughed and shrugged, "Could be worse." Then she threw her boutique over her head. It was caught by an orange haired young woman near the back. The messy haired man next to her just groaned and put his head in his hands. Silver helped Kris up onto the back of his Lugia, then climbed up himself. They both waved to the gathered people and then flew up and away towards Goldenrod City. *** That’s my second one done. I hope you like it. For those who want more, I’m going back to Ash next, along with a whole lot of other characters. Some old, some new. To all those out there who read this: I dub this pairing of Silver and Kris: Gen2 rivalshipping
