She grabbed the dagger and flew it through the air. A fall off one of the narrow cliffs would certainly kill anyone. All she could do was watch, and wait..wait for the dagger to determine her fate. It could go two ways. The first being, that the dagger wouldn't miss, killing the monster who had been haunting her all along, which would spare her life..or the dagger would miss, leaving the monster alive. This fate, would lead to her death. Not only her death, but probably the worlds as well. The dagger was her last hope. The raging fire from around her burned on, and as if in slow motion the dagger flew through the air, and missed the monster. The world had lied on her hands. She pulled out a knife and held it to her throat. She had failed.

*20 years later*

Two children were sitting in their den watching the fighting league. The girl had loved Pokemon all her life, but as for her brother, the boy, he was the exact opposite. He only watched the league for a laugh. He brushed his fingers through his green hair and stared boredly at the TV. "For once, these so-called Trainers are actually using their noodles. All the more, making Pokemon seem even more useless then it is..now we cant even tease the trainers!" He got up and stomped out of the room. The girl, Kristen, just sat there. Her eyes were glued to the TV, un-noticing what her brother had said, or that he had left.

"Next up.." The announcer began "...Gary Oak!" Kristen watched as the old Pokemon master, and old Proffesor stepped up, his short tan hair, with a tint of gray, blowing in the wind. "His competitor being.." The announcer didn't have time to continue, as a dark cloud filled the stadium, instantly making everyone fall over limp. "What..?" Kristen started, but was frozen before she could finish. Frozen in time.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Owls hooted, crickets chimed, the wind was blowing. Kristen found herself in her room and quickly jumped up. "W-what happpened?" She had remembered it all, the league tournament, the cloud, the people, dead.
Or was it only a dream? "It couldn't of been!" She cried loudly. "IT SEEMED TOO REAL!"
"QUIET!" She heard her brother hiss from the next room over "SOME people, actually WANT to get some sleep around here..that including me" She didn't make another sound, but flew the covers over herself silently and got out of bed. She looked at her clock. 10:59, P.M., June 4th. 'June 4th?' She thought 'But..I was watching the League June 6th, at 6:00 P.M., meaning that whatever happened two days ahead caused this' She rushed downstairs, hoping to catch the 11:00 news.

She ran to the den, and flicked on the TV, looking for Channel 9 -The Pallet Town news. "9..9..where is it?" She whispered to herself. Her watch beeped. (As it always had each hour) It was 11! She looked through the Channels some more and finally found Channel 9, a few moments later.
"Today on the Pallet Town news, we are looking back 20 years, into the life of 17 year old Ashley Ketchum who was found dead July 6th 2026.." Kristen thought for a moment realising the whole thing at the league had happened the same day in July. "..Severe wounds were found all around her body, a head concusion, and a deep cut on her neck, from a knife. Doctors believe that she lost too much blood to survive."
Kristen continued thinking, not commenting on her death injuries. 'So, basically, a 17 year old kid was killed, and she came back to haunt the league many, many years after her death? ..But why the league? Did that have something to do with her death? And why 20 years later?'

She continued to listen to the news. "Now, here is the long story, of the life of Ashley Ketchum." The news reporters voice sounded deep and serious, as another reporter took over. "This little girl, who put smiles into the lives of many people, began life here in Pallet, her mother, Misty and her father Ash, raised her very well, until Ashley's 3rd birthday. Her father and mother both dissappeared one night after supposively going out to see old friends. It was believed to be Team Rocket, but police are doubting this, due to the fact that Ash and Misty Ketchum never even associated with the Team. But, however the dissapearences cause, this left little Ashley to move into the nearest orphanage, which was in Pewter,..never to remember her parents. The only thing she had to know she had, had parents at some time in her life was the yellow hat that said "Ash, Misty, and Ashley" on the inside."

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"Ashley! Get up Ashley! Move ya butt! Rise and Shine! GET OFF YOUR BED" Ten year old Ashley just groaned and tossed around, as Jackie, a fellow kid at the orphanage, tried her hardest to get her out of bed. "Get up! Or..or..Or! You'll never see your precious hat again!" She said darting for the hat, and placing it on her head. That did it, Ashley was up as fast as a hummingbird could flap it's wings. (Fact: Hummingbirds flap their wings 15 times per second). "I'm up! Just give me my hat!" Jackie danced around the room with the hat on, but than took it off and threw it at Ashley.

"That'll teach you to try and sleep in" She grunted as she left the room.
Ashley picked up the hat and un-did the wrinkles creased from when Jackie had gripped and thrown it, then placed it upon her own head. Jackie had always been her friend, but lately she had been acting very strange. Maybe it was because, they would soon be rivals. For, today, they would be allowed to travel to the town of Pallet, to Proffesor Oaks lab and become official Pokemon trainers.

This had always been one of Ashleys dreams, the other was to become a Pokemon Master.
She twisted back her cap and grabbed a play Pokeball from her right-side denim pocket. "I vow to become the worlds greatest Pokemon Master, I'll do whatever it takes to earn that title..whatever it takes" She trailed off at the end. She hung her head for a moment, but then rose it up and threw out the pokeball. No pink light flashed as it opened, but instead a stuffed plush toy, charmander, came flying out.

It bounced a few times before finally laying smugly still on the floor. Ashley had never before held a real Pokeball, she wondered if it was at all similar to the fake kind. 'Probably a lot heavier' She thought 'Especially with a Pokemon inside' She could hardly wait, today she would hold a real Pokeball, today she would have a Pokemon Trainers license, today she could start her Journey, Today she would become a Trainer. 'I wonder what adventures I'll have?' She sat back down on her bed at this point, admiring the decorations around the room. Something she often did.

There was a thin strip of wall paper, going around the whole rectangular shaped room. In the wall paper, a Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander and Oddish all played happily on red-seated swings. Pigeots were flying in the background, the sun was shinning, the sky was blue, and the Pokemon seemed as happy as could be. Ashley barely liked that picture though, she knew that everything in it was all fake and un-true. The sun never shined like that, atleast not anymore. Everything was dark, shadowey, and sad. You wouldn't walk down the street and see people smiling, instead, they would have emotionless expressions. 'Or, was this just a big lie that Madam Milly cooked up?' Ashley had sometimes thought, but knew that Madam Milly was probably right. She had no reasons to lie.

Madam Milly. A name you would hear if you ever entered the Pewter Town Orphanage, even if just to visit for a short moment. Madam Milly herself was a snobby, lower class, lady that acted like she was the richest person in the world. She could be the nicest person to some people, but other people, she could be the opposite. It depended on how you were. People like Jackie, were her little pets. But people like Ashley, were like little crabs biting at her, so that is how she treated them. Like someone would treat a pesky crab.
She made Ashley do loads and loads of chores, cleaning, working, etc. And Madam Milly made her bottom line clear to the kids she didn't like. "Stay outta my way" Which was kind of hard when you were in the same building as her.

"I will become a Pokemon Master!" She shouted, running out of the room. The rest of the way downstairs she walked slowly. She glanced at some pictures on the walls around her; these pictures being of the Pokemon Masters of the past. She wished so deeply, that someday her own picture could be added onto that section of the wall. 'Maybe it will' She often thought, '..If I Try hard enough, Maybe. Just Maybe.'

At this point, Kristen needed some time to soak in what she had just heard on the news. "..Ashley, didn't know what lied ahead. But right after breakfast, she packed up all her belongings and left the only home she had ever known." The cameras than were focused on the main news room, and the reporter announced that they'd be back after a commercial break.
Kristen was still confused about the league, but pushed it aside, realising when they were done telling her story she'd probably know.

All of the sudden she heard a noise coming from the stairs. The image stepped into the den to reveal herself. "Hello Aunt Misty" Her Aunt smiled and looked at her "what're you doing up this late?"
"I..wanted to watch the news"
"Watch the news? That's new..just a week ago you were complaining about how boring news shows were..if I remember you even did an article for school ab-"
Kristen interrupted her "Yeah, Yeah..this story is interesting."
"What's it about?"
"You should watch it, and you'll see. But, you missed some of it. So far, it's about this young girl whose parents dissappeared so she was sent to an orphanage. And they just talked about her leaving and journeying to Proffesor Oaks Lab in Pallet to become a trainer."
Her Aunt smiled and nodded.
What Kristen, nor her Aunt Misty realised, was that one of them knew the girl they were talking about on the news. And that someone just so happened to be her Aunt. Kristen Waterflower sat there boredly with her Aunt, waiting for comercials to end.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Jackie, and two other girls were following closely behind her. She turned around for a moment, just to make sure of this, when a big wad of mud landed on her face. Snickers were heard in the background. "Jaccckie! Why'd you do that?" A snickering Jackie stepped up and slowly looked Ashley from head to toe. "That's Why" She muttered, loud enough for her to hear. Ashley kept going. "This is going to be a looong Journey to the lab" She thought aloud.

Ashley had gone from the front, to the back. The three stooges(As she named them) had gone in the front taking over the lead. It was rather foggy out, so she could barely make out what they were doing, but she could hear arguements over wrong turns. No doubt, they were lost. The two other girls began to shout at each other, this leading into a real fight. Punching, kicking, slapping. That kind of fight. Ashley had stopped moving at this point, trying to stop the girls from killing each other. Jackie just stood there looking annoyed.

"Uhhhh..." She began. "Uhhhh....STTOOOP FIGHTING!!" The two girls imediately stopped fighting and stood in a line, as Jackie began to talk. "Now listen up. We are going to get to Pallet and to that Lab, without any hassle. We aren't going to scream, kick, punch, or even fight, each other. And we are especially not going to fight over directions! Obviously, I, Jackie, can lead us to the Lab without you three helping me. Now, come along, everyone"

Ashley sighed. 'The sooner we get there, the better'
She followed behind, accouple feet.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"Jackie? You guys? Hello!" That couple of feet she was traveling behind at slowly grew bigger until Ashley and the other three were completed seperated. Now, out in the woods, in a fog, Ashley had to find the lab on her own. With no Map. She gave up looking for Jackie. "Ok, let's see.. the labs in Pallet, right?" She asked herself. "Ok, well..I'll goto the nearest town and ask for directions."

She kept walking straight for a few more minutes. 'One problem.' She thought. 'Where is the nearest town?' She sighed "Maybe I should just keep walking straight. That should work..I'll have to run into something that will help"

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"Great! Commercials are finally over."
Her Aunt just smiled "This really must be a good story..you're interested in it a lot"
Kristen nodded, but had a frown across her face.
"What's wrong?"
"Would you honestly believe me if I told you a secret..that is very strange?"
Her Aunts smile vanished, and a more serious look appeared. "Oh?"
"This has to do with the Pokemon league..alittle, I guess." Kristen began. "Well..the other night I was watching it..and something happened that killed everyone. The thing was, I wasn't exactly watching it yesterday. I was watching it July 6th..than all of a sudden after they were killed, I woke up in my bed, two days earlier."
Her Aunt gasped as Kristen continued "You probably wont believe me..but that's what happened and I know it wasn't a dream. Then today on this news story.."

Kristen was interupted by the news reporter. "..We bring you back now, with the next part of her story. For those of you just tuning in now, we decided to tell the life story of.."

"Ashley Ketchum" Kristen said before the reporter.
"..Ashley Ketchum"

Her Aunt was speechless. 'After all these years' She thought.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ashley had kept walking, and walking, for a few days.
On the third day of traveling, she finally found it. The Lab.
There on a hill, the sun shined upon the legendary white building. The Pallet Town research Lab. Also the place to get your starter Pokemon. Than it hit Ashley..'which starter Pokemon could I get?' She stopped running for a second to think about it. But, with no luck ran off, not caring about her first Pokemon as long as she got one at all.

As she approached the gate, three figures were there. Each with a Pokeball.
"Well, well, well...looks like the loser finally showed up" Jackie said, waving her Pokeball in the air, as if to show it off. "I'm no loser!" She shouted, but Jackie didn't pay any attention. She just spun her pokeball, proudly. "What're you doing here still anyways, if you already got ur Pokemon?"
"That's none of your business" Jackie shot at Ashley. "But I'll tell you anyway. I'm waiting here for those other two morons. They wanted the pewter trainers to stick together..so obviously I gotta wait for your royal butt to get in there and get out quickly, to start ur journey with us."

"That's a nice offer, Jackie, but I'd like to go on my Journey by myself" She could use the company, but an image of having to get taunted all through her journey was not great company to her. "B-but, you have to come with us, you'll be the only trainer from Pewter not joining the rest." Jackie spat. "Oh, c'mon, I'm sure one less trainer not going with you on your journey wont matter. Besides, we'll see each other at some point anyway." Jackie got frusttrated. "OKAY, THAT'S IT. YOU want to go on your OWN POKEMON JOURNEY..That's FINE with ME." Just than the other two girls came walking out, holding a Pokeball each. "C'mon girls, looks like Ashley wont be accompaning us this Journey.

And with that they left, as Ashley headed into the Pokemon Lab.
Knock Knock
"Another trainer? You may enter" Ashley opened the door and walked in to see a fairly young person treating a sick Psyduck. "Um, Sir.."
"You can call me Proffesor Oak"
"Ok, um, I came to become a trainer, and get my first Pokemon." The Proffessor nodded and headed where three Pokeballs laid. "I'm pretty sure all of the Pokemon are gone, three trainers from Pewter just stopped by and got the last three." Ashley sighed. "Any Pokemon? ANY, ANY Pokemon..I'll take any, I just gotta have one! Are you sure there's none left?" He sighed. "Let me check"

He than headed to the back room, to return a few minutes later with a Pokeball. "There were two left, I picked this one out of them" He handed the Pokeball to Ashley who smiled with joy. The Pokeball, felt fairly light, and was easy to lift. This was un-like Ashley had thought. "Aren't you going to see which Pokemon you got?" He asked.
"Oh..right. How do I.." She was cut short when Proffessor Oak through the Pokeball out. "Mistaryu" He said. "She's all yours..kid..um..what's ur name?" Ashley put out a hand "Ashley Ketchum"
"Ketchum?" He repeated.
"Yup"
"Any relation to Ash Ketchum?"
"Well..I dont know. My hat does say his name on the inside." She said taking off her hat, and showing him three words. Ash, Misty, and Ashley.
"I knew your father, and your mother..Alittle. Sad news about your mother"
"Why not sad news for my father too?"
"Why? Nothing happened to him did it?"
"My parents are both dead."
"I just spoke to your father two nights ago, impossible. And I know my old rival, he wouldn't of died of anything in the last two days."

Ashley was shocked "You did?! Where?"
The Proffessor was silent.
"C'mon, you gotta tell me!"
They hadn't noticed the Pokemon wonder away.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"Aunt Misty..what's wrong?"
Her Aunt sighed. "Nothing, Nothing"
Kristen wasn't buying this. "Really..what's wrong?" Her Aunt got up and walked towards the basement door. "Follow me" She called opening up the door and walking down the stairs. Kristen quickly got up and followed.

Kristen watched as her Aunt headed towards a back room when down the stairs. She than flicked on a light and went over to a desk. Opening a drawer in the desk she pulled out a few pictures and handed them to Kristen.
The first was a picture of a girl with brown hair, and a blue league hat on. She had on a light blue shirt, and a dark blue jacket. "That, is Ashley" Kristen looked at the picture memorizing it. "..So that's why you were shocked like that. How did she die?"
"Ashley isn't dead."
"But, it just said on the ne-"
"The news doesn't know the whole truth of her story. Ash and I were never dead, and still both of us are alive."
"Ash? Whose Ash?"
Her Aunt sighed "That's a whole other story. Get them to show it on the news sometime" She said sarcastically.
"If Ashley's not really dead, does that mean mother is alive too?"
"Violet, and your Aunts Daisy and Lily are really dead. No one planned the car crash, not even the monster."
"The monster?"

Her Aunt nodded. "Yes..the one who tried to kill the people at the league yesterday. But than the Orb turned time back two days. That's enough time for the people who were chosen to save the world by stopping the monster."
"So, Ashley didn't have anything to do with that whole thing?"
"In a way, she did"
"Huh?"
"The monster has taken control of Ashley's body. Meaning She's been possessed. The Monster needs to be in a humans body at all time, and his theory is to take over the current Pokemon Masters body. That's where the ones chosen to stop the monster come in, and they must get the him out of Ashley's body and kill him."
"How do you know if you're the chosen one?"
He Aunt was silent for a moment. Then finally spoke.
"If you remember what happened 2 days ahead of time"

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"Hoot hoot?" The Proffessor called out. "Oh..Hoot Hoot! Where'd you go?" Ashley began to look under desks and chairs in the lab, but continued to talk while doing so. "..You just have to tell me where my dad is! Oh, please!" The proffesor just shook his head "No..In time you shall learn of his location" He said, and with that they searched for Hoot Hoot in silence.
Proffessor Oak sighed. "It's no use. You'll just have to get our last, Pokemon. But..this Pokemon species are quite strange.."
"Why?"
"This species.." He said getting out a pokeball from his jacket pocket. He threw out the Pokeball "..Dont have hearts. Well, they do actually, but they are cold and sour"
Ashley nodded and smiled down at the Pokemon. "Hello..aww, it's so cute!" She started petting it.

*snap*
The Pokemon bite her finger. "Yeewwwouch!!"
"Her name is Mistaryu. One thing you should never do is call her an it, and dont pet Mistaryu too hard either." Ashley nodded and smiled at Mistaryu. Her feathers were all Cerulean Blue, with a dark blue tail. Her eyes were an Orange color. And she stood about two feet tall. Ashley walked closer to Mistaryu and picked her up, only to recieve another bite. This time Ashley didn't scream and still held Mistaryu. Her bites didn't her once you got use to them. Ashley started petting the bird-type Pokemon again, and this time wasn't bitten.

Holding Mistaryu in her hands, she walked over to get her trainers license and pokedex.
