POKEMON AMBER Aspendragon The Moon Dance For Firefly-Part 2 “Wow!” Amber said under her breath. She was fighting the urge of yelling. Wing smiled as he followed Amber in dismount. “I have seen ponyta herds before, but not as large as these,” he replied. She nodded, she too has seen herds of the flame horses, but, not as huge. Firefly and Moondancer started pawing the ground. The two trainers looked at their pokemon. Firefly constantly flung her head up then back down. Moondancer was really dancing, it looked like he was trotting in place. “What’s up?” Amber asked, Wing tried to calm Moondancer before he stomped the ground. “Oh great, I know why they’re acting weird,” Amber said, “isn’t it mating season?” Wing’s eyes widened. “I think it is,” he answered, Firefly jerked her head out of Amber’s reach then started bucking, when the other ponytas saw her, they looked ready to flee. “Moondancer!” Wing growled, as Moondancer started galloping towards the herd. The herd stood there and gaped at the shiny ponyta. Firefly followed. “This isn’t good,” Amber whispered to Wing, he nodded in agreement. “I’m not ready to be an uncle!” he cried, but Amber knew he was joking. “Why don’t we watch from a safe distance,” she suggested, He nodded as he stepped backwards, watching every move his ponyta made. Amber followed, watching Firefly too. Firefly and Moondancer were nodding their heads, as well as shaking, and neighing to the other ponytas as they approached. When Amber and Wing sat upon a large, grassy hill, she stared. She noticed that the mares were separated from the herd. It seemed that the stallions were having a pep talk. Noticing this, Firefly quickly trotted over to the mares. The stallions let Moondancer in their small group. It seemed that every ponyta was welcomed, for three more appeared. Wing said that he saw three trainers in the woods that the ponytas were coming from. “You know, something came to me, don’t all ponyta trainers release their ponytas here so they can mate?” Amber asked, Wing never heard of it but he said it sounded very likely. “Hey! Look!” Amber said quickly, they looked down at the herd. The two herds were moving in together. “Must be ready to choose their mate,” Amber suggested excitedly. Wing rolled his eyes. “Women,” he growled. “What was that?” “Nothing!” Wing sweatdropped as Amber glared at him. “Ponyyy!” a small mare neighed as the herds mixed, the already chosen couples cantered out of the small, tight group. None of them were Firefly or Moondancer. “I’m pretty sure this is Moondancer’s and Firefly’s first time,” Wing said. “Yeah and your point is?” “It won’t a surprise if they don’t find a mate,” Amber growled at him. “I know Firefly will find a mate, I know it!” Amber scolded. He backed away from her. “Ta pony!” Firefly neighed, charging at a male ponyta. She obviously didn’t like him. He cantered away in shock and nickered to another mare. Moondancer didn’t find a match easily either. After being told away by countless mares, he began to lose hope. “Ponyta!” he cried out again, nobody answered it. Meanwhile, Wing was losing his temper. “You blasted females! I can’t believe you can’t tell from a good future husband from a bad and indifferent colt!” he shouted, Amber quickly put her hand over his mouth and pulled him back. “Be quiet will you!” she scolded him again. He growled at her. “Taaaa!” Moondancer neighed again, the herd that’s looking for a mate was quickly emptying. And Firefly still couldn’t find a suitable mate. He looked over at another mare, she had a glossy coat and had beautiful healthy flame tail and mane. Before he could neigh over to her, another larger stallion hurried to her and nickered, she quickly galloped out of the group with him. His ears drooped as he looked around. There was only three more mares left, he walked towards them and was quickly shoved away as three stallions made their way to them and galloped away with the mares. He looked around. Firefly was keeping a worried glance away from him. “Taaa!” Moondancer cried over to her, she shifted her weight to her right front and hind leg. Amber and Wing were getting excited. “Ponytaaaa!” Moondancer neighed joyfully as he trotted over to her. She pawed the ground then cocked her head up and looked at him. He was the same height and had a new blaze of blue flames, they looked like cyan-blue and starry blue mixed together, not the same ordinary blue she was used to. She noticed something else, he had golden eyes! He noticed that she had sky-blue eyes. “Raapppiiiiddd!” a deep voice neighed, something hard and solid rammed Moondancer to the ground five feet away from where he was standing. He leaped to his feet quickly. He looked up at the strong creature. “A rapidash!” Wing gasped, Amber put her hands over her mouth. The long horn of the handsome rapidash was polished well by his trainer, he was well groomed and had normal colored but strong-burning flames upon his back, neck, and above his hoofs. His tail was giant and was hot to go within three feet of it. Moondancer winced from the heat. His blue flames getting hotter as well. But could not be compared from the rapidash’s flames. “Rapidash!” (Move along outsider!) The rapidash growled, “Rapidash! Rapiddddd!” (This place in not to be covered in blue flames of the out cast!) Moondancer neighed back. “Ponnnyyyyttttaaaaa!” (Oh yeah! I don’t see any of your kind, Rapidash!) Moondancer neighed shrilly. The couples looked at the two males. Waiting to see what happens next. “Rapidash?” (Are you challenging me?) the rapidash asked with a grin. Firefly looked terrified. “We can’t interfere Wing!” Amber growled as she held back a mad Wing. “He’s treating my ponyta like scum! I have to do something!” he yelled at her. She smacked him hard on the back of his head. “Use a little common sense, this would be the only time Moondancer can prove himself in Firefly’s eyes!” she growled at him. Wing rubbed his head. “Fine,” he growled. “Ponyyy!” Moondancer neighed as he charged at the rapidash. He stood motionlessly. As if knowing the attack won’t have any effect on him. But Moondancer had something else up his…um…hoof? Moondancer’s flames grew large as he charged a Flamethrower of blue flames at the rapidash. Not expecting this, the rapidash failed to dodge it. When the smoke clear, he had several burn marks. Bu the battle wasn’t over. “Dash!” The stallion cried as he prepared for a Stomp attack. His hoofs glowed an eerie blue as he charged at Moondancer. Each time the hoofs hit the ground, a crack in the ground appeared. “That Stomp attack could break his bones!” Amber cried, Wing urged his ponyta on. “Ponyyyy!” Moondancer burned the side of his neck, but the stallion still trotted towards him. His hoofs making high cracking noises. The couples back away. Firefly stood her ground. It was certainly an impressive Stomp. “Dassshhh!” the rapidash quickly cantered towards him, letting another Flamethrower hit his front, left leg. He showed no sign of weakness. “GO! GREAT RAPIDS!” A boy around twelve cried, he was on flat ground, near the fight, Amber and Wing found out quickly that the rapidash was his. Great Rapids flung himself into the air, he was right on top of Moondancer. Great Rapids began to lower, Moondancer had nowhere to run as the great body flung him to the ground. He cried out as the hoofs rammed into his rib cage and his flaming hot skin brushed up against his. He was on the ground as Great Rapids decided to get off him. “Great!” his trainer shouted, “Now, the girl is yours,” Great Rapids made his way towards Firefly as the other ponyta went about what they were doing before. “Hold it right there!” Amber shouted. She and Wing were down the hill in a flash as soon as they saw Moondancer hit the ground. “What are you doing here, you aren’t suppose to interfere with the mating season!” the boy shouted. “What are you talking about! You’re the one interfering!” Wing shouted at him. “Yeah! This is Ponyta Season! Not Rapidash Season!” Amber shouted. “What’s the difference?” the boy asked. Wing growled. “Well…” she mumbled, the she turned to Firefly. She hasn’t put Great Rapids down yet. “Firefly!” Amber and Wing shouted together. Firefly drooped as she looked at her trainer, then at Great Rapids, who was heading her way. “Firefly! He fought for you and he met you first!” Amber shouted, she nodded, but it didn’t look like that changed her mind. “You remember that pitiful race we had earlier!” Wing laughed, “Moondancer didn’t stand a chance!” Amber laughed at the past memory. Firefly’s ears twitched up a little. “WHO CARES ABOUT STUPID RACES! GREAT RAPIDS WOULD HAVE WON EVERYONE OF THEM ANYWAY!” the boy shouted, Firefly gave him a dirty look. Amber and Wing didn’t notice. Amber instead hopped over to her companion and whispered in her ear. “He won’t be much of a friend nor husband,” she began, “Besides, it’s not like Great Rapids is going to do anything but mate then leave you, and besides, he won’t be much fun at the races you challenge him too,” Firefly gave her a somber look. “Look, who do you choose? Your friend, or a serious stranger?” Firefly pondered as Amber made her way back to Wing. The boy growled, his eyes glowed blue. So did Great Rapids! “You’re a psychic!” Amber growled. Moondancer’s ears twitched upward unnoticed. Great Rapids rammed his body into Firefly’s, urging her to canter with him. She had no choice as she was shoved away to an empty meadow with tall green grass and no trees nor bushes. “Lave Firefly alone!” Amber cried, Moondancer leapt to his hoofs, paying no attention to his aching legs and neck. He went at a gallop towards the two. Great Rapids shoved hard at Firefly, making her fall to the side. Moondancer tackled Great Rapids down. But Great Rapids quickly got up and lowered his head and tackled. Missing Moondancer by an inch. Moondancer sent another Flamethrower, burning his withers. “Go Moondancer!” Amber and Wing yelled. The boy was reprimanding Great Rapids, telling him to finish him off. “Ponyta!” Firefly urged him on. Moondancer heard this. His flames grew larger as he exhaled another Flamethrower, this slowed Great Rapids down a lot. “Your doing great Moondancer!” Wing yelled. Moondancer tackled Great Rapids to the ground. This time, he had a hard time getting up. Moondancer quickly finished the battle with another Flamethrower. Great Rapids was down for ten counts. (Amber counted as a joke.) “Moondancer is the winner!” Amber shouted as Wing ran up to his ponyta and hugged him around the neck. While the other trainer was scolding his pokemon. That’s when Amber stepped in to help. “You’re a disgust to pokemon trainers!” she yelled, “Why don’t you just leave him here if he’s so weak!” Wing and Moondancer stared at her. “I will, GOOD-BYE!” he shouted, stomping away. Amber pulled out a super potion. She sprayed in all over the horse’s body. When the pokemon’s eyes blinked open, he stood up and stared at Amber. “Your strong right?” she asked him, he nodded. Wing, Moondancer, and Firefly listened. “Then you can be this herd’s leader,” she said, the couples looked at the rapidash and at Amber. “This herd doesn’t have a leader, right?” a stallion nodded at her, “And I’m sure you can handle the job,” she patted him on the shoulder as she walked towards Firefly. Firefly nuzzled her as Amber hugged her. “Moondancer wants a mare like you,” she said to her. Firefly nodded. Moondancer escaped from Wing’s grasp and walked over to Firefly, she nuzzled his neck. Wing and Amber stood back and smiled. The sun was beginning to sink. “Pony,” Moondancer neighed, as Wing mounted him. Amber mounted Firefly. The sun was almost down, but with their ponytas flames, they would have no problem seeing in the dark. Besides, they had no sleeping bags so they might as well ride all night and hope to be home by tomorrow morning. “Ready?” Wing asked. Amber nodded. “I’ll see ya there!” she yelled, as she and Firefly took off. “Not if I get there first!” Wing shouted after her, but Firefly was getting faster and faster. “On second thought, you can count on seeing me there!” Wing laughed, Amber laughed along with him. Firefly neighed as Moondancer frowned. As they vanished behind thick bushes and trees. They heard the high neigh of the new leader of the Ponyta Herd. To be continued…
