POKEMON Golden Sun Series

Aspendragon

Part Twenty-One

Beware, The Silver Moon’s Heir is Out to Scare

That night, Coco felt uncomfortable, knowing the Full Moon was approaching fast. If what Bayline said was true, how were they going to prevent the next transformation? Coco thought up trapping her in the cave and wait till she transforms back into a human in the morning. But thought it was cruel. But the full moon was tonight; she was running out of time.

"Pika pi?" You found another moon gem! Peppermint whispered as she pulled out the two gems from her vest’s pocket, which hung on her rented bed.

"Yeah, sure did." She whispered back. Squall slept soundly in the bed next to her; Bayline was finally asleep on another bed across from her. "How are we going to do it this time? I have no time to waste in the hospital again." Peppermint cocked her head then curled up into a ball next to Coco’s head. Coco placed the gems back into the pocket and pulled out the orb.

Help us Golden Sun, wherever you are…She thought as she put it back in the pocket and fell asleep.

The ground shook beneath her. Coco gasped for breath, but nothing filled her lungs, in fact, she didn’t need to breathe at all. She looked around, she was dreaming! All around her was darkness, then, a cavern appeared. Flash! A bright light blinded her. She heard the sound of working machines and painful cries. She heard shouting and orders. That’s when a huge, bold, red ‘R’ appeared in front of her! Team Rocket was holding Moyia in a cavern, on Cinnabar Island! Now, she had two days till Christmas and the less time to get Moyia back!

"What?" Coco sat up, it was morning. Peppermint was still asleep, without her head to keep her on the pillow. She heard a faint knocking before Dean came in with a tray of food. Squall and Bayline awoke.

"Hello, I have breakfast!" Dean greeted, "For all of your stomachs and your pokemon!" Everyone grinned, except Bayline.

After having their feast and the pokemon were fed and were back in their poke’balls. Coco decided it was time to leave.

"We appreciate your kindness," Coco thanked Dean and his grandparents.

"No problem," Susan said.

"Come back anytime you wish," Kaki told them.

"Come back for another battle someday all right Squall?" Dean said to Squall, shaking his hand again.

"You betcha!" he said back.

"Well, thank you for your hospitality! Good-Bye!" Coco shouted as they left, waving good-bye.

"Bee!"

"Machop!" Driller and Rusty shouted.

"Bye!" They shouted one last time before looking ahead and walking on.

"Did you guys figure out what your gonna do?" Bayline asked.

"Not yet," Coco answered, the snow stopped falling, but left three inches of snow behind.

"Well, tonight you transform. Tomorrow is Christmas, and we’ll be at Coco’s house by then. So, as long as we like lock you up somewhere where you can’t get out till morning, then no harm done." Squall explained. For once, Bayline agreed with his idea and suggested that they spend the rest of their time looking for somewhere to shut her up in.

"I don’t know, but I guess we can give it a shot," Coco said. They walked on for what seemed like hours, but was really two hours when they came across a small lake. Night was approaching faster then before, or so they thought.

"We’ve got to hurry, the moon will come up in a few hours, I’m sending Moonshine out to see if she can find anywhere to lock you up Bayline," Coco said, "Go! Moonshine!"

"Ghastley!" Moonshine cried as the light faded.

"Moonshine! We need you to find a place where we can keep Bayline, locked up so she can’t move. All right?" Moonshine nodded and vanished.

"Do you think Moonshine will find a place in time?" Squall asked. Bayline eyed Coco.

"If there’s one pokemon to find the place, its Moonshine, don’t worry." Coco said. Squall looked at the sky. Bayline started to feel uneasy, the Sun was setting.

"Ghastley!" I found a mansion not far from here, it looks abandoned. Follow me! Moonshine ordered as she reappeared. Coco smiled and translated. They ran after the ghost pokemon. Moonshine floated faster and faster. They ran harder after her. Peppermint clung to Coco’s shirt.

"Ghastley!" Here! Ahead of you on that hill! Moonshine cried. They looked up, it was true. The mansion was old, and certainly looked abandoned. They ran harder as the sky darkened.

"Hurry! Open it!" Coco shouted as she pulled on the handle. Squall and Bayline pulled on the same one. Slowly, the door began to open.

"Moon, go and find a room with no windows and a strong door," Coco commanded Moonshine. She nodded and vanished again as they entered the mansion.

"Whoa, this place is creepy," Bayline shivered. Squall rolled his eyes. The carpet was filthy and velvet. The walls had a flowered border and stains of red. A chandelier was above them and a spiral staircase was ahead of them. Moonshine reappeared.

"Ghastley! Ghast!" There’s a dungeon downstairs that you might find useful. The basement door is right over there, Moonshine said, hovering over a thick, wooden door.

"Great job girl, c’mon!" Coco shouted as she pulled open the door and ran downstairs without a thought, Peppermint, Bayline, Squall, and Moonshine followed.

"Whoa!" they heard her mumble. They stopped behind her as they got onto flat, stone floor. It was a dungeon like Moonshine said many cells lined the halls. The bars weren’t rusted and looked sturdy.

"Hurry, get into one Bay!" Coco commanded. Bayline nodded and opened an unlocked cell and walked in. Everything was thick stone and cement. Coco shut the door behind her. Moonshine appeared with a black key in her mouth.

"Great Moon! Thanks!" Coco said as she locked the door with it. "Now, we’re going upstairs so your other self won’t see us. Moonshine will keep her eye on you, right?" Moonshine nodded bravely, she can vanish anytime and keep full alert if she breaks out somehow.

"We better hurry," Squall growled as he started running up the stairs. "We’ve got to make preparations in case she does get out. Since we don’t have anymore gold nuggets, we’re gonna have to stall her till the Sun rises!" Coco nodded as she and Peppermint followed him up and out. Coco locked the basement door and looked around.

"I wonder why this place has a dungeon?" Squall wondered aloud. Coco shrugged. Peppermint’s eyes began to droop.

"Let’s set up as we plan our move of action," Coco suggested. Squall nodded.

"Ppppeerrrssiaaaannn!" a screeching noise shrieked.

"Bayline, don’t worry this will be over before you know it," Coco muttered as she unrolled her sleeping bag.

"I know, if she sees us. We’ll split up and go in opposite directions, if she’s close to getting one of use, Moonshine will appear in front of her and distract her enough for us to vanish. Since physical attacks don’t hurt pokemon, her attacks aren’t lethal to her." Squall suggested. It was when Coco said that Bayline’s cat self isn’t that stupid that he started making other safer suggestions.

"We could hide till she finds us, like roll around the floor to make our scent the same as the surroundings and be quiet so she wouldn’t hear us." Squall said. Coco sweat-dropped getting dirty was something she didn’t want to do.

"Pppeerrssiann!" the shrieking came again.

"How much longer till sunrise?" Coco asked Squall as they went into their sleeping bags.

"It’s only been fifteen minutes since she transformed!" Squall said, sleepily.

"So, twelve hours?" she asked, he nodded before he fell asleep. That’s when the orb glowed brightly. Coco sighed and fell asleep herself, Peppermint curled up into a ball next to her head.

2:00 A.M.

Coco was running her fastest from who knows what. She was alone, running towards a door that never seemed to get any closer. She began to tire. Breathing became harder and harder.

"Pikachuu!" she heard Peppermint cry she was outside the door she was trying to get to. So were Firestorm, Minoru, and Moonshine.

"Help!" she shouted out to them. They ran towards her, stretching out their claws, vines, or tongue. That’s when she fell, the floor shattered like glass. The pokemon missed her by inches. They looked down after her. The sorrowful cry of Moyia filled her mind. She heard recent conversations with Squall and Bayline. She heard them arguing. She heard the battle cries of her pokemon!

"Ghastley!" She closed her eyes.

~*~

"Ghastely!" Wake up Coco! When Coco opened her eyes, she jumped; her face went right through Moonshine.

"What! What is it?" Coco asked her as she shook her head. The same screeches sounded.

"Ghatsley!" Bayline escaped!

"Squall! Wake up!"

I just watched the Pit and the Pendulum on 5/28/04 in first bell! Man that spooked me! That gave me the urge of writing a bit more of horror into the next part! Enjoy!
