POKEMON Golden Sun Series

Aspendragon

Part Twenty-Two

A Not So Purr-Fect Encounter

"What is it Co?" Squall asked groggily. Coco shook him some more before he decided to sit up.

"Bayline’s gone!" she shouted, this woke him up. His eyes widened.

"What!?!" he shouted, she slapped him.

"Be quiet!" she scolded him, he rubbed his now red left cheek.

"Sorry,"

"Pika," She could be anywhere, Peppermint said. Coco nodded, Moonshine vanished and started searching for the cat.

"I’m curious on how she got out?" Squall said.

"She probably slashed at them constantly all night, then they broke from trying to withstand the powerful blows." Coco suggested. "Anyway, we can’t let her find us, and we have to make sure she’s stays in the house at the same time." Squall sweat-dropped.

"Any suggestions?" she asked. He shook his head.

"Peersiann!" The shrieking was much closer.

"Run!" Coco shouted quietly. They knew she wasn’t that close, so they rolled up their sleeping bags and put their stuff next to the door, so she wouldn’t see them.

"Come on Peppermint," Coco said as she picked up the tired pokemon. They ran down a corridor when Moonshine reappeared.

"Ghastley!" She’s close to you, and I was just outside, where there’s a sundial, there’s at least four more hours till the sun rises. Meaning six o’ clock is when she’ll transform back. Moonshine explained.

"All right, good job. Now, Moon, we need you to distract her whenever she gets to close to us. She can’t hurt you so don’t worry." Coco said.

"Ghast?" What am I suppose to do? Moonshine asked.

"Either make something crash in her way or lick her," Squall growled.

"Ghastely!" I was asking Coco not you! Moonshine growled.

"What did she say?" Squall asked.

"She said those were great suggestions!" Coco said. Moonshine glared at her.

"All right, let’s split up here, you go that way and I’ll go this way!" Squall shouted as they came to two different hallways. Coco ran left, he ran right, Moonshine vanished.

"All right, look for a place to hide in Pepper!" Coco said, Peppermint nodded and looked around as Coco ran. That’s when she spotted a small hole in the ceiling.

"Pika pi!" Look! It’s loose! Peppermint said, pointing at the loose ceiling tile.

"Great job girl, c’mon out Minoru!" Coco shouted. Minoru appeared.

"Use Vine Whip to knock off that tile!" Coco ordered, Minoru nodded and lifted the tile up, it landed on its other side with a loud Thump!

"Peerr!"

"Oh great! Minoru, lift Peppermint up into the ceiling, quick!" Coco said as Minoru’s vines wrapped around Peppermint and lifted her into the ceiling.

"Now me," Coco said, he wrapped his vines around her waist and lifted. She grabbed onto the edge and pulled herself up the rest of the way. "Here, give me your vines, so I can lift you up here." Minoru did as he was told, and then Coco pulled him up the rest of the way. She laid him on the same level.

"We’re going to find Squall through here, let’s go," Coco said as she led the way through the vent-like passageway.

"All right, out of all of us, Moonshine, Coco, and me! Bayline picked me to be her prey!" Squall growled as he heard scraping behind him, made by Bayline’s claws as she ran.

"Run! Legs! Run!" Squall panted. That’s when he saw a suit of armor with a sword, he pulled out the sword from the ironed hand and knocked the rest of it over and ran on, maybe the sword could break the gem. But the chances were slim.

"Peerssiian!" Bayline screeched. She was getting closer to Squall. That’s when he heard a different shriek. A blood-curling scream.

"What in the-" he growled as he stopped, frozen from fear. The footsteps were slowing, but didn’t stop.

"Squall! Up here!" Coco said as vines wrapped around his waist. He was lifted into the ceiling.

"Coco? What are you doing?" Squall asked as he sat down beside Peppermint and Minoru.

"Moonshine was distracting Bayline, so I could get you up here. Did you hear that scream?" she asked. He nodded. The footsteps were gone, but replaced with laughs.

"Look what we have here!" a voice shouted.

"One of those Silversons no doubt," another said. Squall and Coco gasped and looked at each other. Team Rocket! They looked down, Team Rocket members were walking away with a paralyzed Bayline!

"Down to the basement, the deceased Silversons would love to have more company," another said, it was Syji.

"Deceased Silversons?" Squall muttered.

"Her family’s dead?" Coco gasped. Minoru and Peppermint looked at each other.

"Moonshine must’ve paralyzed her with her Lick attack. Making her an easy target for Team Rocket! But why are they here?" Coco said. The Team Rocket members vanished.

"I don’t know, but we should follow them." Squall said.

"All right, Moonshine!" Coco called. Moonshine appeared. "Follow Team Rocket," she nodded and followed the team.

"We should split up, we don’t know how many labs they put up here or how they hid them from Moonshine when she was searching the place out." Coco said. "And they’re bound to battle us, giving us a good work-out," Squall nodded as she returned Minoru to his ball.

"Let’s go!" Squall said as they jumped down and ran after the team. Another blood-curling scream filled the air.

"It sounds like someone’s being tortured." Squall said.

"But how?" Coco mumbled. Peppermint sparked. They saw the remaining TR members walk down the basement door, when they shut it, they quietly opened it again.

"All right everyone, quiet." Squall whispered as he walked down first.

The stairs were stone, making no creaks or squeaks. Peppermint tried to avoid sparking out of fear and anger and Coco looked around. When they were at the base of the stairs, Squall stopped instantly, making Coco almost bump into him. He pointed around the corner. Team Rocket voices!

"Are there anymore intruders?" Claudia asked. A deep voice answered with a ‘no’.

"Good, take that cat to the Chemistry Lab, Captain Rooscan would love to experiment on her," Syji said.

"Yes Sir," a few TR members said as they walked away, wheels were heard turning.

They must have put Bayline on some kind of cart! But I don’t know for sure what they want to test her for, if the other Silversons are dead. They must’ve been the ones to kill them all! Coco thought. Squall looked around the wall.

"Who are you? I believe you are not a Team Rocket member!" The only voice in the dungeon shouted, everyone else has gone to the labs. Squall jumped out from the stairs.

"The name’s Squall Togoroti!" Squall answered, "And I’m here to stop your despicable acts!" Coco sighed, Peppermint hung on to her hat as she jumped out as well.

"Me too, name’s Coco Tradet!" Coco shouted. The TR member was sturdy no doubt, but didn’t look very smart.

"So, ya wanna play with the big boys then! Fine! Go! Raticate!" the TR member shouted.

"Raticate!" a brown, beaver-like rat appeared. Coco took out Dexter.

"Raticate, the Rat pokemon," Dexter beeped, "This pokemon is rattatata’s second stage of evolution, this pokemon’s teeth can chomp through five layers of cement."

"Be careful Squall, you heard Dexter," Coco said. Squall nodded.

"That’s why I choose Granite!" Squall shouted, releasing his sandshrew. "It’s time to prove who’s better, Mouse or Rat?" Granite growled at Raticate, it did the same at him.

"Raticate! Super Fang now!" the TR member shouted. Raticate lunged at Granite with its mouth wide open.

"Dodge it then use Tackle!" Squall shouted. Granite jumped, but Raticate’s teeth briefly sliced Granite’s rough skin. But Granite landed on his left foot and took off from it into Raticate’s middle.

"Great job Boy!" Squall complemented, "Now use Growl!" Granite faced Raticate and growled fiercely. Raticate tried to close its ears, then the noise stopped.

"Raticate! No slacking! Use Bite!" Raticate jumped at Granite again.

"Use Sand Attack!" Granite flung sand and dirt with a wave of his tail at Raticate. Raticate landed on the ground, trying to wipe the filth from its eyes.

"Now use Scratch!" Squall commanded. Granite landed on top of the rat and scratched wherever he could. Many scratch marks proved pain as they bled. Raticate got up for another blow.

"Don’t be weak! Use Hyper Fang!" The raticate started running slower at Granite.

"Growl then use Tackle!" Granite did another deep growl, Raticate slowed. Then Granite charged at Raticate, when he hit it, it went flying into the wall behind Squall.

"Grrr…" the TR member growled before he ran off, leaving the wounded rat behind.

"That was just great, we better go on," Squall growled, but Coco grabbed his arm.

"We can’t leave it here," Coco said, she pulled him over to the raticate and pulled out a Super Potion from Squall’s pocket.

"How’d you know I had a Super Potion in my pocket?" Squall asked. She smiled at him.

"Peppermint was scavenging for food earlier and spotted supplies in your pockets," she answered, he growled as she sprayed the rat. "It’ll take time till it recovers and becomes conscious. You mind carrying it so later we can run it to the Pokemon Center?" Squall nodded and picked the pokemon up.

"Peeerrssiiaannn!" they heard Bayline screech.

"Bayline isn’t very happy…" Coco said as she ran ahead of Squall. Granite followed.

"Why wouldn’t she be?" Squall asked with a no-duh!-kind-of tone.

"Well-Ah!" Coco fell as she came head-on with a coffin-like sculpture. But it had a small square-like opening with bars with someone peering out!

"Oh my…" Squall muttered in fear. The dead person still had skin and other outer showings like eyes and hair. The eyes were wide open and stared out. Coco crawled behind Squall with Peppermint behind her. The pair of hands were closed around the bars.

"This person died so suddenly, it’s still clasped to the bars!" Coco gasped. "Meaning…"

"No way, it couldn’t have died of…fear," Squall mumbled. Coco shivered to what might’ve scared the person to death.

"We better hurry, for all we know, that might be a Silverson…" Squall said quickly as they quickly walked down, away from the case.

"Yes, and if Bayline transforms. She won’t have the power to hold Team Rocket back," Coco added. Peppermint was still shaking with the encounter.

"Shh, I think I hear voices…" Squall shushed her, Peppermint froze.

"This is wasting time! We might as well look for who ever is in this manor!" Syji shouted.

"We can’t, this cat can break out if not supervised and we cannot have her loose with over twenty members here. Anyone can be bitten and die," Claudia growled.

"Meowth!" Claudia’s meowth meowed.

"Spearow!" Syji’s spearow crowed.

"What’s that, there’s someone here?" Claudia asked. Meowth meowed again.

"Rocket Jen and Ross, check out the area outside the lab now," Syji said through a walkie-talkie.

"Will do Executive Syji Sir," a female voice agreed as it buzzed off.

"I wonder who would be in this place anyway?" Claudia asked.

"People who love and believe in spooks?" Syji guessed. Coco and Squall looked at one another. Bayline screeched again.

"It’s 3:00 A.M., three more hours till sunrise," Squall said.

"Hey! Who the heck are you!" they heard the same woman voice shout.

"That’s easy! We’re the Trainer Triad!" Coco shouted.
