POKEMON Golden Sun Series

Aspendragon

Part Twenty-Four

Return to Pallet

"I’m home!" Coco shouted as she burst through her door, followed by Squall and Bayline.

"Coco!" Caroline and Dawn chorused as they hugged their daughter. "We missed you!"

"Mom, Dad, I would like to introduce to you my friend, Bayline Silverson," Coco said, as she escaped their clutches.

"Hello Bayline, so, what do your friends want for the Christmas dinner?" Caroline asked.

"Um Mom, can we have some extra company tonight?" Coco asked.

‘Sure, who?" she asked.

"My parents and a friend Mrs. Tradet," Squall answered.

"Sure, why not. Our phone is over there," Dawn said, pointing at the counter. Squall walked over to it.

"Mom, tomorrow we’re going to have a reporter come over from the recent crisis me and my friends solved…" Coco said, explaining what happened and why they arrived in a cop car.

"Oh my goodness!" Caroline gasped. Dawn’s eyes widened.

"I’m impressed!" Dawn said quickly.

"Thanks, so Dad, can we release our pokemon outside to meet the Tradet Clan?" Coco asked. Dawn smiled.

"Sure, Squall! Care to join us?" Dawn asked as Squall rejoined.

"Yes, and my parents are coming over in an hour in a car." Squall answered.

"Great, better get cooking Carol!" Dawn said cheerfully. The four trainers walked out of the house to the backyard.

"Whoa! Your backyard is awesome!" Bayline cried as she saw the mountains, forest, and long grass. Dawn’s pokemon were outside playing, napping, or fighting. Charcoal the Charizard saw Coco immediately and flew towards her.

"Char!" Coco’s home! He roared. The rest of the pokemon looked up from what they were doing and saw Coco and her friends and ran towards them as well.

"Hi everyone!" Coco greeted as Bayline and Squall sweat-dropped as she was body-slammed to the ground.

"Okay! Okay! Let me introduce you to a few friends, let’s go guys!" Coco said as she stood up. The three trainers released their pokemon.

"Let’s see let me count…" Dawn said, as he started counting and writing them down on a notepad.

Raticate

"When did you get a raticate?" Bayline asked. Coco sighed.

"Is that the Team Rocket’s ratciate?" Coco asked.

"I kind of felt sorry for it and asked Nurse Joy if I could have it…" Squall explained.

"That’s eleven pokemon!" Dawn announced as the Trainer Triad’s pokemon looked at Dawn’s pokemon. They looked quite content, but Charcoal and Firestorm eyes each other. Peppermint had grown and began to get territorial, but so far only around electric pokemon, she stared at Electron. Rascal and Liyst gawked at Minoru. The other two pokemon, Izumi the Dewgong and Cassie the Lapras were in the ocean not far from the house.

"We’re holding our Christmas party at the beach, where there’s plenty of snow to go around, also we can visit Dawn’s other pokemon and see if Cassie’s up for the job to Surf to Cinnabar Island." Caroline explained. Even though Pallet was a peninsula, it wasn’t close to the equator so it too received snow on the winter season.

"Great place Mrs. And Mr. Tradet, let’s get ready!" Byaline cried, as they all ran in to finish the feast and gathered the tables and chairs.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Coco ran to the door and opened it.

"Hi Professor!" she greeted Professor Oak and May soon followed, "Hello May," they grinned.

"Well, I’m not surprised to see you here." Professor Oak said, "How many pokemon do you and Squall have now, oh! And who is this young lady?" he asked as Bayline appeared.

"This is Bayline Silverson Professor," Coco answered.

"Nice to meet you Bayline," May greeted, Bayline smiled.

"Sorry I’m late! I had to look everywhere for Scyther, oh hello Coco and…" Tracey said as he approached the door.

"She’s Bayline," Coco answered again, "Come on in, the pokemon are in the back Tracey, so you can release yours. Where’s Sugarpaw?" Coco asked May.

"She’s at home asleep," she answered. Soon, the tables and chairs were lifted out of the house and everyone was heading down to the beach.

"It’s not really cold in Pallet during the winter is it?" Squall asked.

"Nope," Coco answered as they walked faster.

"Charmeleon," Are we leaving tomorrow? Firestorm asked.

"Right after we are interviewed," Coco said, then she covered her mouth. She forgot she sounded like a pokemon when she talked to them.

"What was that Coco?" Dawn asked.

"Oh nothing!" Squall said calmly. Coco looked at him oddly then back to carrying the four chairs. Firestorm and the other pokemon were carrying chairs too.

"We’re here, and look! Everyone else is arriving too!" Caroline announced.

"I better go and get Sugarpaw or she’ll never forgive me!" May said as she ran towards her house.

"Yes, and the pokemon would hate me if I don’t bring them around as well," Professor Oak said as he too jogged to the lab.

"All right, let’s begin setting up!" Dawn shouted.

By noon, everything was set up, and Coco finally had a place to explain to Peppermint what Christmas was.

"It’s the time of giving Peppermint, also it was when Jesus was born…" she began. All the other pokemon gathered around her to listen to the time when Jesus was born and why he was laid in a manger and so on. Unfortunately, Dawn noticed the crowd and went to investigate.

"Pikachu pika pi pika chu," he heard Coco say. He leaned against the rock they were hiding behind.

"Pikachu chu…" he couldn’t believe it! His daughter could speak pokemon, he could tell because the pokemon nodded every now and then and listened closely. He decided to keep it a secret from everyone else and talk to her later then ran over to the party.

"So you see, Christmas is about being together with family and friends," Coco finished. The pokemon looked at each other and nodded.

"Hey! Coco! My parents! And Professor Salem are here!" Squall shouted. Coco emerged from her hiding place and ran over to greet them. Sure enough, Cindy and Dale Togoroti and Professor Salem were next to a car with Sadie perched on Cindy’s shoulder.

"Hi!" Coco greeted as she ran over to them.

"Long time no see huh?" Cindy said. "From what we heard, your town is having a Christmas party."

"And you heard right!" Coco said. "Come on, I’ll show you to my parents." Coco led them to her parents, a little distance away; they instantly went into a deep conversation.

"Well, at least they get along," Bayline mumbled as they talked on.

"Yeah, well we should start the party soon." Coco said as the last villager joined and May and Prof. Oak appeared with their pokemon.

"Mom! Dad! Everyone is here!" Coco shouted to her parents. They nodded and Ms. Ketchum turned on the music, which had loudspeakers set up around the area. The Must Be Santa started first.

"Wow!" Coco gasped as the colored lights on the trees and houses flickered on; the sun was setting slowly. The song ended and a new one began, this time it was softer and wordless. Bright, white lights turned off, the colored lights were the only things on. The sun was on the horizon now.

"This place is beautiful at night, especially with the lights and snow." Bayline complemented. Coco nodded.

People were starting to dance now, either single or with someone else. Peppermint went to eat some food with several other pokemon. Ms Ketchum and Professor Oak brought the pokemon food.

"Er…Coco, would you like this dance?" she heard Squall ask. She turned around and giggled at Squall’s slightly red face.

"Why not," she answered. Squall and Coco were happy their parents were too deep in conversation and devouring food to notice their children’s dance. The pokemon though, watched in interest, but when Bayline spotted what was happening, she joined along in the silent crack up.

"Your good at dancing," Coco said. Squall reddened again. Peppermint stared at the two, then began sparking. She would shock Squall later, probably tomorrow.

"Now! At this time we would like to congratulate the Trainer Triad’s victory against Team Rocket in a recent crisis this morning!" She heard her mom on the loudspeaker. Squall and Coco quickly separated as people looked her way. Everyone clapped.

"Before this party ends, we would like to set off some fireworks! So everyone huddle together for the dazzling lights!" her mother said again. Bayline shoved Coco and Squall under a tree where snow hasn’t gotten to yet and sat down. Peppermint jumped onto Coco’s lap. Fruity and Honey did the same with their masters. All the other pokemon sat down and waited.

"Hey, Coco look…" Squall muttered as he pointed at Firestorm. Firestorm nipped at Charcoal’s tail and chirped. "That’s a weird sound," he muttered as Charcoal lifted his head and looked at Firestorm.

"What are they saying Coco?" Bayline asked.

"You don’t need words to figure it out Bay," she said back as Firestorm curled up next to Charcoal’s chest and waited together for the fireworks. The Trainer Triad looked at one another.

"They’re kinda cute together, don’t you agree?" Coco asked. Bayline and Squall nodded.

"Wow! Look!" Bayline yelped as a few explosions came. A pink jigglypuff appeared then an ordinary flower-like one. Soon after, a yellow pikachu and green bellsprout, and a brown eevee.

"They look just like ours," Coco mumbled.

When the fireworks were complete, everyone packed up and left. Squall, Bayline, and Coco went into Coco’s room soon after. Pokemon that belonged at the lab were following Professor Oak and Dawn’s and the Trainer Triad’s pokemon were inside.

"You have a large basement Coco to fit the pokemon in," Squall said.

"Yep, but Charcoal and the other pokemon that can’t fit through the door are returned to their poke’balls and released in the basement, good thing our chimney is on ground level." Coco explained. Squall and Bayline unrolled their sleeping bags and were soon accompanied.

"Hello you three, I thought you were staying downstairs with the others," Coco laughed as Peppermint jumped on her. Fruity and Honey got into the sleeping bags of their masters.

"Tell me where my parents are staying tonight." Squall asked.

"They’re in the guest room down the hall," Coco answered as she cuddled with Peppermint. "How much you wanna bet that Charcoal and Firestorm are sleeping together?"

"Five hundred here!" Squall laughed.

"No way! My whole family fortune!" Bayline shouted, laughing with Coco and Squall. But Coco and Squall looked grim when she mentioned her family.

"Lights out you three!" Mrs. Tradet said as she turned off the lights and closed the door.

"Now be quiet Peppermint, and go to sleep or he won’t visit." Coco said to Peppermint.

"Pika?" Who’s he? Peppermint asked. Bayline and Squall didn’t need to understand her to figure out what she said.

"You believe in Santa Claus?" Bayline asked.

"Why shouldn’t I, I saw him before!" Coco answered. Bayline chuckled.

"Pikachu!" Please tell me who Santa Claus is! Peppermint cried.

"He’s a man who travels the world in one night to bring presents to good kids and pokemon," Coco giggled. Peppermint’s eyes grew big.

"Pika?" Could I see him? Peppermint asked. Coco laughed as she translated it.

"If you believe in him and have been a good girl," she answered.

"Give me a break Coco, it’s impossible to travel around the world in one night!" Bayline said.

"Eevee," Is he really real? Honey asked as Bayline fell asleep.

"If you believe in him," Coco said.

"Bellsprout?" What happens if you don’t believe in him? Fruity asked.

"Those that don’t believe don’t receive," Coco answered as she fell asleep. Squall soon after. The pokemon fell asleep just when the last light in Pallet town flickered off.

To be continued

I know it’s a bit late for Christmas, but I tried to get this in before the holiday! All well…
