Because I didn't put this in the prologue:

DISCLAIMER: I don't own any of the pokemon mentioned throughout the fanfic. I do not own the concept of pokemon, and the pokedex and all that stuff. I do own the new things, such as the Majra islands and such. Enjoy!

Megan woke up to another rainy day in Cendal City. Looking out of her window, Megan could see the grey clouds releasing their load upon the the surrounding areas. This was the typical weather of Cendal City, normally wet for most of the year. Megan sighed, but smiled. At least she didn't have to go out today. She could just stay inside with the TV, and eat to her hearts content. Megan picked up her blue top and red skirt from the night before, and fumbled around for some clean underwear before getting dressed and going to the kitchen.

Megan didn't have a lot of money. She was a waitress, and her customers were very stingey with tips. As a result, her house was on the outskirts of the city. A one storey, one bedroom house was all that she could afford. She had no car, but had received a bicycle for a birthday present, and used that instead. Megan sluggishly moved towards the front door to get today's mail. When she got to the front door, she noticed with interest a letter from the Pokemon Magazine she collected, but sighed when she saw the grey envelopes which spelled trouble. Sighing, she opened the grey envelopes first. An electricity bill, a water bill and a gas bill, all adding up to $200. Megan put down her mail on the kitchen table to rummage through her purse to see what she could find, too tired to think straight.
"Come on," she grumbled to herself, flicking through the different compartments of her purse. In the end, she only had $79.36. She put the money back into her purse, and looked through the bills to see which one was most important, trying to get her brain to engage. No electricity meant no TV and no lighting. She couldn't charge her phone with no electricity, and she couldn't use the sockets for all the other household applicances. No gas meant she couldn't cook her food, which didn't seem so bad, seeing as she didn't normally cook anyway. And lastly, no water bill meant no showers, baths or running water. In the end, she chose the electricity bill, reasoning with herself that she could just go to one of her friends' house for showers until she could afford the bill, and that she should have stopped getting gas a long time ago. Content that she had made the right descision, she turned her eye to the rest of the mail. Most of it was just junk, so she through them away. The Pokemon Magazine letter was far more interesting. The magazine came once a month, and her latest copy had arrived a week ago, so what could it be? It could be a contest that she entered, but she had entered so many of this month's issue that she didn't know which one it could be. Megan nervously opened the letter, and read it to herself:

To our lucky trainer,

Congratulations! You have won our Pokemon journey contest! You and three other trainers will be travelling together to get the eight badges scattered across the Majra Islands. Not only that, enclosed is your official ferry pass which will allow you to travel across the islands free of charge, as well as a voucher for the official Pokemon Supplies Outlets, an official Pokemon Magazine hat, and your very own Pokedex and Pokeaide, which will help you on your journey. You and the other three trainers must meet at the Pokemon Magazine Headquarters in Cendal City on the 3rd of October to receive further aid and instructions.

We look forward to meeting you!

Kevin Anderson

Editor of Pokemon Magazine

Megan could hardly contain her excitement. She had won? She had actually won?? Megan read through the letter again in disbelief. She was finally leaving Cendal City to enter the Pokemon League! After calming down a little, she put the ferry pass on the kitchen counter, stuffed the gift vouchers in her pockets, put on the official Pokemon Magazine hat, and then turned her attention to the Pokedex and Pokeaide. The Pokedex was not very interesting, as it only recorded data of Pokemon you had seen, so she looked at her Pokeaide. It was just like a personal assistant! It had a map of the individual Majra islands, and a zoomed out map of them all. It also stored trainer's phone numbers, virtual badges, and showed the current date and time. Looking at the date, Megan saw that it was the 1st of October. Wasting no time, Megan put on her waterproof jacket, and raced outside to the departement store.

A few hours later, Megan burst through her front door, soaked from head to toe, but with a huge smile on her face. Megan took off her wet clothes and put on some new ones, before turning her attention to what she had bought. She had been able to get a tent, some cooking equipement, a rucksack and some extras for the pokeaide. Megan slotted the different Pokeaide chips into the Pokeaide, and then turned it on. Looking at the Pokeaide, she was now able to locate certain trainers and pokemon on her pokeaide, and receive world news, as well as receiving information on towns, cities, blocked roads and alternative ones. Megan couldn't wait!

The next day Megan spent all her time packing her rucksack. She put in all of the things she had received thanks to the Pokemon Magazine letter, as well as some spare clothes, matches and other things. By the time October 3rd came round, Megan was bursting with excitement. She slipped on her rucksack, got on her bicycle and headed towards the Pokemon Magazine Headquarters.

The Headquarters of Pokemon Magazine were huge. The building seemed to sail up into the sky before being lost to view. Inside, the ground level had marble walls, ceiling and floor. Megan paid no heed to the marble, and headed straight up to the reception.
"Can I help you miss?" The receptionist asked. The receptionist was a tall man, with ruffled hair and misty grey eyes.
"Yes," Megan replied. "I'm here because I won the Pokemon Journey Contest."
"May I see your letter?" The receptionist asked. Megan handed the letter over to the receptionist, and he spent some time looking over the text. Megan was expecting him to say it was a fake, but in the end, he handed the letter back to Megan and gave her the elevator key that would take her to the fifth floor, where the trainers were supposed to meet. Megan thanked him and went into the elevator, inserted the key, and waited. There was a click, and the elevator started moving. After a while the elevator stopped and opened. Megan stepped out.

The entire floor was one large pokemon stadium! There were floodlights all around the arena, and seats for the supporters on all sides. At the center of the arena, there was a large pokeball symbol. Squinting her eyes to see, as the middle of the arena looked so far away, three other trainers were already at the center of the stadium with a man. Megan rushed up to them.
"Well, here is the fourth trainer," the large man said. Looking round, Megan saw that there were two boys and another girl. "Megan let's introduce you to your travelling companions." The man pointed to the individual trainers in turn. "That is Colette, the boy with the red cap is Avar, and the other boy is Sam. But enough of the introductions!" The man boomed, giving no time for Megan to talk to the others. Seeing this, the man laughed.
"You'll have plenty of time for that later! Now, Each of you has received the Pokedex and Pokeaide, but currently the Pokedex has no pages filled, correct?" Megan and the other trainers nodded. "Well, I am about to give each of you a Pokemon. As you remember, you were given a questionnaire to fill out, and that questionnaire determines which Pokemon you will receive now." The man handed out four pokeballs, one to each trainer. "Of course, you will also need Poke balls to capture pokemon." The man gave five poke balls to each of the trainers. "These are Faint Balls. They only capture pokemon that have been knocked out, but they do not capture other trainer's pokemon. Use them well. And now," the man said with a gleam in his eye. Let's see how well you can battle with your Pokemon! Colette and Avar, bring out your pokemon!" Megan fished out her pokedex as Colette and Avar threw out their pokeballs. Colette's pokeball opened first, and Megan quickly scanned it.

"Oddish." The pokedex said. "Grass Type. This small pokemon buries itself into the ground at night, but can live underground for long periods of time if necessary." Avar's pokeball then opened, and Megan scanned it as well.

"Eevee. Normal Type. This pokemon can evolve into several different types of pokemon depending on various weather conditions, as well as how the trainer treats it." Looking around, Megan saw that the other trainers had also scanned the pokemon, and now Colette and Avar were staring at each other. Both seemed anxious to see what their pokemon could do.
"Now, it's battle time!" The man announced. Colette immediately took the initiative. She fished out her pokedex and clicked on the "Pokestatus" button. The pokedex immediately displayed a picture of Oddish, then analyzed its stats.

"Oddish. Level 5. Moves known are Absorb." The pokedex then clicked off.
"Oddish! Absorb now!" Oddish used its vines at the top of its head to steal some energy out of Eevee. While this was happenning, Avar used his Pokedex to see what moves Eevee knew.

"Eevee. Level 5. Moves known are Tackle."
"Eevee! Use your tackle attack!" Eevee broke free of Oddish's grasp, and rammed into Oddish. For a moment it looked like Eevee had won, but Oddish quickly recovered. As the pokemon only knew one move each, the battle was slightly repetitive and uninteresting. After a few minutes of Colette and Avar calling out commands, Eevee tackled Oddish one more time, and Oddish was knocked out. Both trainers' Pokedexes started flashing. Avar and Colette flicked open their pokedexes.

"Eevee has grown to Level 6." said Avar's pokedex, while Colette's told her that Oddish had done the same.
"In this arena, both Pokemon receive experience when the battle is done." The man informed the trainers. "They also get restored to full health after every battle. But I digress! Megan and Sam, it's time for you to battle!" Megan and Sam turned and faced each other. Megan's palm started to get sweaty. Her first ever Pokemon battle! Megan could tell that it was the same for Sam. Looking at the Pokeball in her hand, Megan smiled, then threw her Pokeball into the air. Sam did the same, and for a moment, time seemed to slow down while both Pokeballs were at the same height. Then Sam's pokeball sailed down. The battle had begun.
