The Rips of Time

Chapter 8

{You have returned!}

"Yes, we have." Kom and I got off Ponyta.

"Pony, ny, nyta?"

"Where's Stantler?" translator.

Stantler/Edna suddenly materialized right next to Alakzam.

"Stantler, ler."

"Here I am." translator.

"Stantler! How are you? What do you want me to do?" Kom knelt next to Stantler/Edna and rubbed her head.

"Stant......"

"I apologize for the death of your parents, Kom." translator.

"It's ok, tell me. Would you rather stay with your husband or with me? I know you had nothing to do with my parents death. And your husband didn't know. He just did what he thought was best for you." I stared at Kom in shock. Here was acting as if it was no big deal the Alakazam killed his parents!

"Stant......"

"I would like to stay with my husband. We will meet you now and then, but my husband and I have a lot to say." translator.

"Ok, you know I have a ton of these so I'm going to give you one. Is it ok I tie this Pokemon translator onto your neck?"

"Stant, ler, ler, stant."

"Yes, I would love it." translator.

{Does it cause you any discomfort, my wife?} Alakazam looked at Kom as he tied it onto Stantler/Edna's neck.

"Stant......."

"It's fine, dear. I hope you don't mind, Kom." translator. This sounded weird because both translators were talking at the same time.

"I don't mind at all. I'm happy for you."

"Stant....."

"I have a confession to make. I feel it wrong to not let you know how I got stuck in the body of a Stantler." double translator.

Kom remained silent.

{My wife, let me tell the story. Back then, I was a careless Alakazam. I was horrible and my wife supported me no matter what I did. I got in a fight with another Alakazam. It was a horrible fight. The place we were in was devastated. There was meeting with the Alakazam council. We were found guilty when it was I who did it all.}

"Stant...."

"His punishment was to never understand Pokemon tongue again. As you can see, I was turned into a Stantler. We spent many a year together, my husband and I. But we couldn't understand each other. In fury, I ran away from my husband without his knowledge. Then I met your father and he caught me." double translator.

{And you know the rest. I apologize, Kom.} Kom remained passive.

"Stant.........."

"But when you least expect it, we'll come and help you when you need it, won't we, Merlin?" double translator.

{Yes, of course! I apologize for the trouble and turmoil I've put you through.}

Kom didn't answer him and Alakazam shifted nervously. I suddenly noticed the blue star on Alakazam's head was smaller.

{I apologize...} he looked very miserable.

"Is that all? May I leave?"

"Stantler."

"Yes." double translator.

{Wait!}

"What?" I asked since Kom wouldn't.

A flute materialized in the air and Alakazam handed it to Kom. When Kom refused to even glance at it, I got it for him.

{When you blow this flute, my wife and I will come to help in your need of aid.}

"Kristy, get back on Ponyta. I would like to leave." I got on Ponyta and we galloped away. But I could still hear a faint voice in my head.

{I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry...}

"Are you sure you don't mind leaving Stantler with Alakazam?" I asked.

"Yes."

"Why?"

He stopped Ponyta and turned his head towards me. "The only reason I was so close to Stantler was because I felt he, she was all I had left since the death of my parents. My parents always gave me rides on Stantler when I was young and I still remember it quite clearly. I remember seeing an Alakazam using Psychic on them. Throwing them over and over and over. Dropped them continously." He trembled. "They were a bloody mess. Their clothes were caked with blood and they screamed. Both of them. I was scared and I stayed in my hiding spot." Then he stopped.

"Then what happend?"

"Nothing really. I took Stantler and ran. I was sure my parents would have liked that." he paused. "Now I'm not so sure I even want to touch Stantler!"

It sounded kind of harsh, but I understood what he was feeling. He got back on Stantler and we continued on.

"Let's go to Professor Birch." Kom suddenly suggested.

"Huh? Why?"

"I need a Pokedex."

"Don't you already have one?"

"No, Professor Birch never gives out a Pokedex unless you ask for one and I've been busy."

"Ok...if you say so..." I wonder if that virus did damage his brain. Or maybe even the past events. His reactions were always unexpected.

"Professor Birch!"

"Oh, no! It's you again!" He tried to run away the moment he came in, but Kom grabbed his coat.

"Why do you run?"

"That girl of yours gave me trouble when she-" He immediately stopped himself and was mad for even letting the words escape.

"What do you mean? All you did was give me a Pokemon and shooed me out!"

"Then you went into-" He stopped himself again and was even more infuriated.

"We just came to ask for Pokedexes. Is that too much to ask?" Kom let go of Professor Birch.

Professor Birch straightened his lab coat. "Wait right here. Don't move!" His voice cracked a little and he disappeared behind some doors.

"How do we know he won't run out on us?" I asked Kom.

"I'm sure he won't. The Professor is not like that."

We waited for an hour and still no sign of the Professor.

"Scratch that. I don't think he's coming back. What did you do that got the Professor all mad?"

"Oh, come on, Kom! It was only a couple of days ago. Don't you remember? I accidentally stumbled into a room and then the Professor kicked me out!"

"Which room was it?"

"I don't know, but it had a weird machine. It sort of glowed."

"Ok, let's search the place."

"Are we allowed to?"

"Why wouldn't we?"

"Maybe because we don't own this place!" I nearly screamed. Kom was just becoming more unexpecting by the minute.

"And your point is..."

"Well, we should respect his privacy."

He stared at me with half closed eyes. "You don't really think that, do you?"

"Actually I do....but I do want to know why the Professor is acting all weird."

"Good!" He opened his eyes wide and gave me a smirk. "Let's go!"

"Ok...." Kom had already ran down the corridors before he let me finish. He was acting really weird. Maybe it was just the stress.

Ok, imagine this, I'm in a huge Pokemon research center and the guy I'm suppose to be searching this place with left me since the beginning. So I was feeling pretty grouchy because I don't like doing things by myself. But I remembered where the room with the glowing machine was so I decided to start there.

The room was locked. I guess Professor Birch was trying to be safe. So I went further down the hallways and tried every door on the way. Finally, by what seemed like the 54th door, it opened.

I flicked the light switch and found it to be a library. Maybe it would have one of those secret passage ways you get from pulling a book! Well, it didn't. After two hours of searching, I found nothing. Until I found a book that interested me. A journal.

4/13

Our operation was a success. The Pokemon are responding well. Soon we will be able to alter their genes so that they will dumb and witless as the 'Earth' creatures.

What the heck? I randomly flipped a couple of pages and read somemore.

5/7

Wonderful! We had managed to take a few Earth specimens to study! The machine was a success! When we had taken enough specimens, we countered the effect so that it would be normal once more. The dosaged given to Professor Birch must be increased. There are times he manages to gain control of himself and that is dangerous.

I flipped back a page.

5/5

We just finished making what we call the 'Chaos Mechanism.' We plan on trying it out on the seventh.

What's the 'Chaos Mechanism'? A flipped back a couple of pages till I found what I was looking for.

3/31

In order to continue our progress, we must somehow gather some 'Earth' animal specimens that we have heard of so much from our newfound 'Lifeforms Identifier.' That is why we plan on creating a tool that will help blend a chosen planet to ours. It has been named the 'Chaos Mechanism.'

'Lifeforms Identifier'? I'll look that up later. I flipped to the latest entry.

5/10

Professor Birch is reacting well to the dosages. We have complete control over him as long as we continue to give him the same out of dosage. He reports how a young boy, Kom, is suspicious. We have already injected him with a small dosage while he was sleeping in the hospital near the Flora Fields. His reaction are very random. We must find a way to inject a bigger dosage into him and perhaps the girl with him as well. If it works on these kids, then we can use it on researchers to help us with the whole point of the operation, to control all Pokemon so that we may dominate the world.

Oh my god! What the heck is this?!? Was this some kind of joke?!? I immediately flipped some pages to find the entry where it said what a 'Lifeforms Identifier' was.

Before I had a chance to read the entry, I felt someone grab me and hold a towel to my nose. I struggled, but I wasn't strong enough! The towel was wet. It was drenched in something. Something that made me sleepy.

"Let go!" my voice was muffled and I could feel sleep covering my eyes.

"You know too much, kid!" I heard someone growl. It was distant...
