Misty’s Cousin

Ash, Brock, and Misty were traveling through a town called Celadon City, when a mailman came up to them and asked, ‘Excuse me, but are you Misty?  From Cerulean City?”

“Yes, I am.  Why do you ask?” Misty asked him.

“I have a letter for you.  It’s from someone by the name of Jenny.” He handed her the letter.  “You kids have a nice day.” He said as he walked away.

“Thanks, bye!” Ash and Brock said.

“Is it from Officer Jenny?!?!” Brock asked, getting excited.

“No, it’s from my cousin.  She’s going to be in Celadon and she would like to visit with me!” Misty said with a smile.

            “Oh…”  Brock seemed disappointed.

“Don’t worry, Brock.  Maybe you’ll like this Jenny,” Ash said, trying to cheer him up.

            “Maybe…”

“She’ll be in the Pokemon Center soon.  We should meet her there,” Misty said.

“Good idea, let’s go,” Ash said as they all started to walk there.

They walked toward the Pokemon Center.  When they got there, there were a lot of people there.  Misty pushed people out of the way.  “Jenny!” She called out.  “Jenny, it’s Misty!”

            “Misty?” A voice said.

            “Jenny?”

“Misty!” A girl in a black tank-top with a pokéball on it ran out.  She had light-blue jeans on, with shoulder-length, straight, brown hair.  She ran out and hugged Misty.

“Jenny, why are all of thee people staring at you?”

“Don’t you know? I’m the best pokemon trainer here! I’m now the gym leader here…Or at least until the real one comes back.”

“Really? My friend Ash will probably be battling you.”

“I’m already battling,” Brock said to Ash. “Battling the urge to fall in love with Misty’s cousin!”

Ash just sighed, then looked to Jenny. “I want to challenge you to a battle!” Ash said confidently to Jenny.

“Hey! Just hold on a second! Can’t I at least chat with my favorite cousin, first?” Jenny winked as she put her arm around Misty.

            “Yeah, I guess so…”

When they all went out to eat, Jenny asked a question, “So, Misty, who’s the boyfriend?” Jenny winked at her.

“What?!?!” All three of them gasped.

“You mean, all three of you have been traveling together, and you don’t have a boyfriend?”

“I won’t be any of these guys’ girl!” Misty said, stubbornly.

            “Why not?”

            “They get on my nerves…”

“Oh, every guy is like that!” Jenny laughed.

“Really…Do you have a boyfriend?” Ash and Brock could tell that these two were pretty competitive against each other.

            “Uh…well…no, I don’t.”

“Can I be yours?” Brock jumped at the opportunity.

“Oh, well…That’s very sweet, Brock.  But I’m not so sure right now.”

            “Why not?”

“Because I really don’t know you, very well.”

            “Oh…”  Brock got depressed.

“Why don’t you two go someplace?” Misty asked.

“I don’t have a problem with that…I guess,” Jenny giggled.

“That’ll keep Brock out of my hair and he won’t mope around,” Misty whispered to Ash.

            “Yeah,” He agreed.

“Then we can get to know each other!” Brock smiled.

“Okay, I’ll go get ready…Or, do I not have to change into anything fancy?” Jenny asked.

“I don’t think that you need to.”

“All right! When shall we go?”

            “How about now?”

“That’s fine.  Misty? Will you be okay being alone with Ash for a while?” Jenny winked at her.

“Don’t worry about us,” Misty gave her a warning glare and Jenny laughed. “We’ll probably train for your battle.”

“Yea, about that.  Ash, is it okay if we battle tomorrow?”

“Yea, that’s fine.  You two just go and have fun!” He smiled.

“Okay then, we’ll see you guys later,” Brock said as Jenny took his arm and they walked out.

            “Bye!” Ash and Misty waved.

Brock and Jenny left to go to a movie.  They didn’t talk much on the way there, but they talked a lot after the movie. They went some place to eat and they talked about their past, dreams, and what they think the future holds.  They made each other laugh and they had a lot of fun together.

Finally, Jenny looked at her watch and panicked. “Oh! It’s 9:30! We’ve been out for quite a few hours.”

“We really shouldn’t leave Ash and Misty alone for that long,” Brock chuckled. “We’d better get going.”

            “Yeah.”

“Jenny and Brock walked to the pokemon center. When they were almost there, Brock stopped Jenny and said, “You know, this has got to be one of the most incredible nights of my life…and you’re one of the most incredible girls that I’ve ever met…So, I was wondering…will you be my girlfriend?”

“Well…” Jenny pondered, teasingly. Then she smiled at Brock. “Yes, I will!”

            “You will?”

            “Yeah!”

“Great!” He hugged her, picked her up, and swung her around. Then, he looked at the expression on her face.  “But, you don’t look so happy…What’s wrong?”

“Well, last time I had a boyfriend…it was pretty hard…”

            “How’s that?”

“My boyfriend wasn’t the best…He didn’t do anything for my birthday or our anniversary of meeting each other…All that he did was sit at home, eat, watch TV, and every once in a while, if I was lucky…tell me that he loved me…

‘I know that he didn’t, though…Even though it was hard, I had to leave him.” A tear came to her eye.

“I’m sorry that it was that way.” Brock took her in his arms and hugged her.

“Please, don’t be like him. Take things more serioiusly.”

“Don’t worry,” Brock took her hand. “I promise.

Jenny smiled, and they walked to the center. When they stepped inside, Misty and Ash were fighting. But they stopped instantly when they walked in. “Jenny!” Misty said. “Where have you been?”

“Out for dinner with Brock,” Jenny said.

Ash pulled Brock aside. “So? How’d it go?”

“It went great!” Brock exclaimed. “She is the most wonderful girl that I have ever met!”

            “What did she say?”

            “She said yes!”

“I’m happy for you. I just hope that she doesn’t go east on me when we battle.” Ash winked.

“Misty asked Jenny the same questions before they all decided to go to bed. Because tomorrow, was Ash’s battle with Jenny, and they needed that rest…But Brock could not sleep at all…He felt as if he had truly found love…
