The next morning, they all met in the gym. “We’ll each use three pokemon,” Jenny Announced.

“Sounds good to me,” Ash replied.

“Go Jenny!” Brock cheered.  Then he saw Ash look at him. “…And Ash!”

“Tyranitar! I choose you!” Jenny threw a pokéball and a giant Tyranitar appeared. It roared loudly.

“Okay…Go, Bayleef!” Ash’s Bayleef came out of its pokéball.”

“Tyranitar! Use Hyper Beam!” A beam came out of its mouth and just barley hit Ash’s Bayleef.

“Bayleef, use Razor Leaf!” The Razor Leaf did hit Tyranitar, but it barley effected it!

“Tyranitar, use Hyper Beam, again!” Jenny shouted. Tyranitar shot out a huge beam, and it hit Bayleef, knocking it out of battle.

“Oh! Bayleef! Are you okay?” Ash ran to his Bayleef.  “You did a great job and I’m proud of you.” Ash said, as he returned his pokemon to its ball.  “Now, I choose Noctowl!” A Noctowl appeared in a flash of light. “Noctowl, use confusion!” Noctowl used confusion and confused Jenny’s Tyranitar.

“Oh no! Tyranitar! Snap out of it!” Tyranitar looked very confused and dazed.  “Try a Rock Throw!” Tyranitar tried to use a Rock Throw, but it got hurt itself, instead.

“Yeah! Now, Noctowl, use Tackle!” Noctowl hit Tyranitar in the head. Tyranitar was knocked to the ground, but was up again. Stumbling around, but up. “You’re doing great, Noctowl!”

“Tyranitar! Snap out of it! Use Rock Throw against that Noctowl!” Tyranitar tried, but hurt itself again and fainted. “No, Tyranitar!”

“Ash’s Noctowl’s Confusion was very effective!” Misty said.

            “Yeah,” Brock agreed.

“Houndoom! I choose you!” Jenny yelled as a Houndoom appeared from her pokéball. “Are you ready, Houndoom?” Houndoom nodded and glared at Ash’s Noctowl.

            “Noctowl, use confusion!” Ash commanded.

“Houndoom! Fight it! You can do it!” Houndoom concentrated and fought off the confusion.  “Good job, Houndoom! Now, use Flame Thrower!” A ball of flames came out of its mouth and hit Noctowl, doing some damage.

“Noctowl, use Tackle!” Noctowl used Tackle against Houndoom, but missed.

“Houndoom, use Flame Thrower, again. Finish this owl off!” Houndoom used Flame Thrower again, and fainted Ash’s Noctowl.

“Noctowl! You did great.” Ash returned Noctowl.  “This time you’re going down. Pikachu! Go!” Pikachu came out from behind Ash, sparks flying from its cheeks.

“Oh! So you have a Pikachu?”

            “Yeah, I do.”

“Oh, well I have competition for him.”

“We’ll see about that. Pikachu, Thunder Bolt!”

“Dodge it!” Houndoom didn’t move fast enough and was hit. “Are you okay?” Houndoom just shook it off and nodded. “Then use Flame Wheel!”

“Pikachu! Dodge with Quick Attack!”  Pikachu obeyed and Houndoom’s attack missed, but Pikachu’s didn’t.  Pikachu hit Houndoom and fainted it.

“Whoa! Are you okay?  You did great.” She returned Houndoom.

“Was that your competition?” Ash asked.

“No, this will be. Pikachu, go!” A Pikachu cam from behind Jenny.

“Brock, did you know that she had a Pikachu, too?” Misty asked Brock.

“No, I didn’t.” He answered. “But this should be interesting, though.”

            “Yeah.”

“Pika?” Ash’s Pikachu asked him. Do I have to?

“Yes, Pikachu, you have to,” Ash answered.

            “Chu!” Pikachu was pumped.

“Pikachu! Thunder attack!” Ash yelled and his Pikachu obeyed.

“Pikachu, dodge!” Jenny yelled as Ash’s Pikachu missed. “And use Thunder Bolt!” It let out a huge bolt of lightning and hit Ash’s Pikachu, but didn’t cause much damage.

This went on and on. Every once in a while, Jenny’s Pikachu would be hit instead. Until, finally, Jenny yelled, “Give it your all! Use Thunder Attack!” Her Pikachu let it out and hit Ash’s Pikachu and it was too weak to get up, and so was Jenny’s in the end.  “Are you okay?” Jenny ran out to her Pikachu. Her Pikachu nodded.

“How about you, Pikachu. Are you all right?” Ash asked. His nodded, as well.

“I guess that it was a tie.”

            “I guess.”

Jenny held out her hand. “Friends?”

Ash shook it. “Friends!” They smiled.

“Hey! You both did great!” Brock congratulated.

“Umm…Brock? Could I talk to you in private?” Jenny asked.

“Yeah…What’s wrong?” Ash and Misty left.

            “This can’t be good…”Misty said.

“Something’s happened,” Jenny took Brock’s hands in her’s.

            “What?” He asked.

“This is hard to say but…I have to stay here…”

            “What do you mean?”

“We’ll both be moving on to different towns, soon…In my case, a little later then you.”

            “Can’t you come with us?”

“No…I want to be a pokemon master, but it would feel awkward to be with my little cousin all of the time and…I have to find some place that will let me heal my Pikachu…”
            “What’s wrong with it?”

“Well…After every major battle, I need to get special treatment from pokemon centers, only found in big cities…I’ve known the Nurse Joy here for years, so she has a ready stock of treatment for my Pikachu…One day, she may be cured…”

“Oh…” A tear came to his eye.

“Brock, please don’t cry…I have something to tell you.”

            “What?”

“You’re the greatest guy that I have ever met…I think that I love you.”

            “Really?”

“Yes…I have no reason not to.”

“Brock was silent. Ash and Misty got worried. “What’s happening?” Ash asked.

“Does it look like I know?” Misty asked, annoyed.

            “No.”

            “Then I don’t!”

“While Brock was silent, Jenny went up and gave him a light kiss. Then, he looked up. “You really do…Don’t you?”

“I already told you that…But what about you?”

“Yes…I do…I just wish that we didn’t have to be apart.”

“I’ll keep in touch with you. Like I do with Misty.”

            “Yeah…”

“And, you never know…Maybe Pikachu will be healed sooner then we think and she won’t need anymore special treatments.”

            “Maybe.”

They went silent again. Then, music started playing. Jenny and Brock saw Ash up in a sound booth holding up a sign that said ‘DANCE!!!’.

They chuckled. “Would you like to dance?” Brock asked her.

            “I’d love to!” Jenny smiled.

Jenny and Brock danced and talked like they did on their date. They forgot about their sadness, since Misty took Jenny’s Pikachu to the pokemon center.

Then, the music stopped. Jenny and Brock stopped, too. Jenny started to cry and Brock took her in his arms. “It’s okay,” He whispered, fighting back his own tears. “It’s going to be just fine…We’ll find a way.”

“Okay,” She said between sobs. “I hope so.”

“Jenny?” Misty said as she came closer.

“Are you okay?” Ash asked.

“I’m fine…I’m just going to miss you guys. I mean, it’s only me and my pokemon. No one wants to stay in just ONE city…”

“Oh,” Misty said.

“What can I say? I’m a city girl,” Jenny laughed. “I’ll be right back. You guys stay right here.”
“Oh, and Jenny? Nurse Joy wants you to see her in a half hour.” Misty told her.

“Okay. I’ll go there in a bit.”

Jenny left. When she came back, she had things in her hands. “Here. I wanted you guys to have these. Ash, this is for you.” She handed him a key chain. “This can go on your back pack.” It said ‘May the next battle, be a great one. Jenny’

“Thank you…May it be,” He answered, and Jenny gave him a hug.

“You’re welcome. Misty, this is for you.” She handed her a charm bracelet. It had a charm on it that said ‘Best Cuz’

“Thank you! I love it!” Misty exclaimed.

“You’re welcome.” Jenny said as a tear came to her eye and she gave Misty a hug. She stopped in front of Brock. “And Brock, this is for you.” She handed him a heart-shaped pocket watch that had her picture in it. “I hope you like all of your gifts…I’ll go see what nurse Joy wanted, now.” Jenny walked out.

When Jenny was Gone, everyone was speechless. “I can’t believe that she actually gave us stuff,” Misty said.

“She’s a great girl,” She said. “Brock, are you going to be okay?” Brock was just staring at the watch.

“Yeah, just fine,” His trance was broken.  “I just…I just wish that this never happened.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Positive…I wish that I had never met her.” Ash and Misty looked at the ground, sadly. “It’s just so much pain…To just meet her, then have to leave her…It’s so much…”

Just then, Jenny came running in with a huge smile on her face, along with her Pikachu on her back. She ran in and hugged Brock and kissed him. “What was that for?” Brock was surprised.

“She’s healed!” Jenny exclaimed. “She doesn’t need anymore special treatment!”

“That’s great!” Ash said.

“Yeah!” Misty exclaimed.

Brock was silent. “What’s wrong, Brock?” Jenny asked.

“I’m just so happy,” He answered.

“Yeah…Me too…” She smiled.

“Will you come with us, then?”

“I’d love to! What do you think, Pikachu?”

“Pika!” She nodded.

“And…as long as it’s all right with my little cuz.” Jenny smiled teasingly.

Misty sighed. “Let’s go before it starts raining or something.” Misty walked out.

The four friends walked out the door and began a new beginning…
