"What was that all about?" Maya asked as she saw Dillon rise from the ground. He sighed and shook his head. He didn't want to talk about it right then. Maya sighed and turned to face Kevin. It didn't take her long to notice that he had started running towards Haze. "Kevin!" She yelled, "What about Eevee?!"

Kevin stopped and let his arms hang at his sides. "Maya, my sister is dying. I need to get my prioritys straight, and I think that dying sister comes before kidnapped friend. I think."

Maya looked down then nodded. There wasn't any point in fighting with him. His hard head always made him impossible to reason with. She and Dillon locked eyes before following Kevin.

The forest that lead to Haze was completly trecherous, but there was no shorter way to go. If the rockets hadn't messed with them, they may have had time to go through the feild, but they didn't now. The broken branches and twigs that were popping out from every direction made a spicific point to attack the three teenagers, and between the temperature and the trees, the humidity was killing them.

To be blunt, the houses looked like a peice of crap. The windows were cracked in snowflake like patterns, and what wasn't broken was burnt. The place where Kevin had been born and raised was destroyed. An irish looking woman, as thin as a toothpick came running to the group. Her hair was loose, the tips were burnt, and the color that was once red was neerly grey. Dirt and mud littered her torn dress. Although Dillon and Maya felt horribly sorry for the woman, Kevin starred at her with anger.

"Where is she?" Kevin asked without tone. "Where's Blare?"

"Kevin I--" She said desperatly. "The town, I didn't know that the fire would stretch that far! I didn't realize that it would leave the bedroom, I--"

"Dang it woman, I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FRIKIN' SUICIDE ATTEMPS, JUST TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!" he yelled, a look of pure evil crossing his normally happy features as he took the collar of her dress into his fist and held her above the ground.

"Kevin!" Maya scolded, "Whaterya-" Dillon covered her mouth, and pointed at the woman. She had a name embroidered onto her torn dress, just visible as "Mrs. Jessica Stone" Maya looked from the embroider to her face. Scars and scrapes looked like she had many times cut her skin, and possibly her children too.

"Blare isn't here." Mrs. Stone said. "I didn't want to deal with her fever so I left her by the river. She kept whining and complaining about her back and leg too."

"ASS HOLE!" Kevin shouted before letting go of the woman's dress collar, and throwing her to the ground. He ran in the direction of the weaving trail of water. Maya started to follow after but twisted her ankel on the way. Dillon stopped and looked at her, while Kevin continued to run.

"Are you okay?" He asked as he picked her up, "Get on my back." She did so, and he ran after Kevin. It didn't take him long to get lost. How in the world can Kevin navigate through this mess of paths and forests!? Dillon thought There isn't even a sign! I guess the people of the town know this place pretty well...

Kevin ran down the side of the lake with a cross of anger and fear invading his heart. Blare had been the only thing that kept him from running away from home. His mother was a phycopath ever since his father had died, right after Blare had been born. Kevin was constantly abused and hurt, but he lived to protect his little sister. Day after day anougher punishment for good deeds would befall him. Year after year he had to watch an innocent girl grow up in fear. Now that eight year old girl was dying, and most likely would have it ten times better with God in Heaven.

"Help me please!" the shouts had faded into mere calls that no one would hear. But Kevin found his sister either way. She was lying on the ground in a dress, ripped at the hem, and had on pantyhose that were covered in fresh and dried blood. Her black shoes were dusty, but otherwise new. It must have happened when she came home from church. Her hair was in a messy bun, and she had a small bit of lipgloss on.

"Kevin?" she asked eagerly. He dropped his backpack and ran to her, clinging to her for dear life. She put her hand to his face, but all it did was make the tears that fell from his eyes flow harder. "Kevin, my leg hurts, and I have a fever." She said with a fake smile.

"Blare Bear, you need to go to the hospital. Your leg's broken, and your fever is too high." Kevin said, begining to pick her up into his arms. He noticed her shaking her head. The pain shining in her eyes was like a shot to the heart for Kevin, but it wasn't pain from her leg.

"Blare Bear, you have to come before you get an infection." He said, although he knew she wouldn't. "Come on."

"Kevin, look where I am. Just look behind that bush there." She whispered. He hesitated on putting her down, but did crawl over to the bush. "Kevin," Blare said quietly as he was moving over, "I'm really tired now. Daddy says I should go to sleep. Goodnight."

"Blare! Daddy's dead he couldn't have said that!" Kevin yelled, turning to face her. He looked from afar whilst the color slowly faded from her normally bright skin. He saw her draw her last breath, and smile her last smile. "Blare Bear?" he asked for no reason, "Blare!"

In tears and rage he ripped the small, frail bush out of the ground. In shock, he stared at the small tombstone: Joseph Stone; 1981-2005; Beloved Husband and Father; RIP.

"Dillon, do you have any idea where we are?" Maya asked nervously. She wasn't a tree person, they made her feel small, like the world was out to get her. "Wait, do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" Dillon asked. His arms were getting tired of holding her. She wasn't heavy, didn't weigh more than one hundred, but he had been holding her for at least twenty minutes. The sound came in clear to him now though, sobbing. He began to run towards it, forgeting the weight of Maya. Her long hair was flying behind them, but it wasn't one of those beutiful things. Her hair kept getting caught on random vines and branches. Finnally Dillon stopped, and put Maya on the ground. In veiw just a way in frount of them Kevin was holding the limp girl to his chest, but her features all were empty.

Maya began to rise from the ground, and Dillon looked at her with question. She limped over to Kevin and fell to her knees, looking at the hurt child sadly. "Kevin? Are you alright?" She asked with a quiet tone. He just put Blare down on the ground and cried on his knees.

Maya put her hand on her chest. She didn't know what she was feeling. A cross between joy and sorrow, anger and enjoyment, heat and cold, life and death, health and illness. Hate and love...love... Before she knew what was going on, Maya had her arms around Kevin, and was holding his head against her shoulder. "Kevin, I don't want you to be sad. I don't want your sister to leave you in pain. I want her to stay with you."

"Why did I leave her?" Kevin mumbled through sobs. "What made me think I shouldn't take her along?" Kevin pulled himself together, and wiped the tears from his eyes. "Maya, what are you doing?"

Maya was staring, admiring, the little girl. Her hair was only down to her torso, she noticed as she took it down, and it looked as though she normally wore a head band. Maya rose from the ground, and pulled a pair of sharp siccors from her bag. she put a ribbon in her hair, just above her torso, and cut off all of her hair below the ribbon. then she took the ribbon off the ground, (it fell when she cut off the hair) and tied it like a head band. Finnally, she took off the choker she normally wore, and put on the locket that Blare had on before she died. Kevin looked at her in shock as she did this, and Dillon ran over calling her insane.

"Kevin, I don't want your sister to leave you. From now on, she and I can share one body. She and I can both take care of you and Dillon. She and I can be the same person." Maya said. "Now lets go find Eevee."
