Pokemon Peridot

And So The Chase Begins!

***

Last Time

Flyy has suddenly realised that his dad is a thief, a Pokemon thief. He was the one that stole Tick, the Electrike, so that Flyy could raise it to be sold as a Manectric.
Also, with his dad in custody and D.I. Smith on the hunt for him, Flyy needs to turn to Falkner, the Violet Gym Leader, and his sister, Kim for help...

***

Flyy walked into the Pokemon Center with a worried look on his face. He forced a smile when the Nurse shot one at him.
'Thank you for using our facilities today! Might I interest you in our competition? The winner can win a spa trip to Lavari-'
But Flyy just raised his hand and walked out with the silent Electrike at his heels.
He couldn't help but be paranoid of the people around him; anyone could be after him. He found himself with his hood pulled up and looking down at his feet. That was until he bumped into someone.
'Sorry...' Flyy said distantly.
'Not to worry...' an equally distant, clear as crystal, English voice replied. Flyy looked up quickly.
A brown haired girl was staring at him with content. Flyy couldn't help but find her pretty. Was this Kim Clarkson? Her eyes were green, her skin was pale and her Clefairy was happy to speak to Tick.
'Hi, are you Kim Clarkson?' Flyy asked.
'Yes, can I help you?'
'My name is Flyy Bazu, I was sent by...' Flyy couldn't bear to say his dad's name, so he said Kim's mum's. '...Monica Clarkson, your mother?'
'I wasn't aware of this. Did she say why?' Flyy told her he didn't know. 'Well, would you like to come to my house, maybe we could phone your mum or dad.' Flyy's fist clenched, Kim noticed. 'I think I know your dad, Flyy. Is he my mum's boss or something?'
'Yes. But he's also a traitor to me. He tricked me. He stole this Electrike and told me it was a gift. He really wants to sell it as a Manectric, but he's been taken into custody. Before he admitted to it, your mum was a suspect along with Prof. Elm' Flyy explained.
'My mum? Well she does work there so her fingerprints are everywhere.' She then chuckled slightly, and they walked back towards Colin's house. Flyy thought they were going back there, but then he remembered that Colin said they lived next door. Flyy reckoned that he would never have to battle him, he hoped so too.
'Here we are!' Kim said as she unbolted her front door. When they stepped inside, Flyy was shocked. There were portraits of all sorts of Flying Pokemon. Sperow, Pidgey, Fearow, even a Dragonite! This was obviously Falkner's doing, Kim didn't seem like the type of girl who liked birds.
The table was tall, and was surrounded by bar stools. When Flyy looked up though, he was really surprised. There was a Pidgey sitting on a perch, eyeing him up and down. This made Flyy uncomfortable, so he was relieved when Kim invited him into the kitchen.
'Falkner, this is Flyy Bazu, mum sent him' Kim said as Flyy walked into the white kitchen. Falkner was leaning against the units. He was shifting somewhat at the mention of Flyy being sent by Monica.
''Sup? I'm Falkner, but you know that.' His voice was slippery, like butter, and slurred, but it made Flyy feel safe.
'Hi, uhh, I need to go, like now, with your sister, back to New Bark.' Flyy realised how 'odd' that might sound to Falkner.
'All right, man. I knew you were coming. Mum said that you would. Hey, maybe, if you come back, me and you can battle for a badge?'
Flyy kept turning these words in his head. He couldn't go back to New Bark really, as he would have to go through Cherrygrove. He also wanted to be a master. 'Kim. Do you want to come with me to New Bark Town, back to your old life, or do you want to stay here, with your brother?'

Kim looked shocked. She had wondered why a random teenager had come, but now she realised. Whatever reason this boy had to go to prison, she had a feeling that her mother was somehow involved, and she thought Falkner knew as well. 'I want to go with you, but not to New Bark. I want to see the world, feel adventure! Daffodil could use some too.' To Flyy's surprise, Falkner said he'd allow it, and tell their mum that she had escaped that night.
'But if you want to be a master, you need to qualify. You need to win a battle. Not gym battle, but a trainer battle. Do you know anyone you could battle?' Falkner asked.
Flyy paused. He couldn't battle with D.I. Smith anywhere, and after him. Colin!
he thought. Was he going to tell Falkner? He shouldn't, but he wanted to.
'I have a friend, I think he lives next-door actually. I'll battle him.'
'Not wise. He has an Onix you have an Electrike. They don't mix. And besides, I hear he has a temper, and he's twenty three!'
'So he maybe built like a brick shit-house,' Flyy said. 'So Tick may not obey me yet. I need this so I can leave, evade the police!'
Falkner saw the determination through the fear. This kid will go far
he thought. 'Hurry then!' he said calmly. And Kim and Flyy ran next door.

In the Violet City Pokemon Center, D.I. Smith and Sleuth the Luxio were sitting in the canteen eating. Sleuth had a bowl of PokeChow and Smith had a bacon roll. But Smith wasn't concentrating on his food, but instead, the paper he was reading.

TOP DETECTIVE WORKING ON LAB SCANDAL

This was the title, and Smith was proud that he was a 'top' detective. The article wasn't really anything, just the basics that Smith had informed the journalists with.
He finished his roll and sipped his coffee. He then threw some change on the table and walked out, followed by Sleuth.
'We will find this child, Sleuth, you know that, I know that, and I'm sure he
knows too' he smiled at Luxio. 'I'm sure there'll be a battle for you in it too; no child ever goes down without a fight. Hell, you might even evolve!'
Sleuth had wanted to evolve since his last case, when he had to battle a Luxray, and lost. Since then, he had devoted his private training to evolution.
Smith patted him on the head twice, and was about to a third time, until he spotted an Electrike, and a boy, and a girl with a Clefairy. The local Gym Leader, Falkner, was following them. 'See, boy! The prey has come right to us this time!'

Colin was more than happy to oblige on behalf of his Onix. 'Now then, one-on-one, like we agreed!'
So they filed through his large house and out into his even bigger garden. Painted on the floor were white lines in the shape of a battlefield. I'm hosed
Flyy thought to himself.
'Onix! Come on out!' Colin threw the Great Ball and out came one of the biggest Pokemon in existence. It was grey, with rocks fused together as a body. There was a massive horn on its head that was probably twice the size of Tick alone. If Tick hadn't melted his PokeBall, he would be quaking in it.
'You ready, Tick?' he said to the Electric-Type. He gave a nod and stepped out onto the battlefield, about two metres from Flyy. Falkner took his position as the adjudicator.
'Let the one-on-one battle between Flyy Bazu and his Electrike and Colin Thomas and his Onix...' he paused, looked at the contestants, and said loudly: '...commence!'
'Onix, Dig!' Colin shouted straight away. Onix jumped into the air and did a half of a flip, twisting as he went. Then, he burrowed underground.
Tick looked around, confused. Flyy, however, looked worried. He knew this attack could KO Tick. Then a light flickered on in his brain. 'Tick! Use Quick Attack! Just run around aimlessly! He has to come up eventually!' Flyy held his breath. His trainer career depended on Tick obeying him.
To his relief, Tick began to run around the battlefield, generating static as he went. Hopefully, it wouldn't burn anything, except Onix.
Onix flew up from the dirt and grass and narrowly missed the speeding Electrike, who sent static coursing up the Onix's spinning body. Nothing happened. It didn't work. Flyy's heart filled with dismay. He was out.
'Unlucky, Flyy! Rock Throw!' Onix hurled rocks straight at Tick, who easily dodged them. 'Impossible!' Colin cried. 'One more, Onix!'
The rocks came hurtling towards Tick once again. 'Stepping stones, Tick!' Flyy called out.
Even though they hadn't trained, Tick felt that Flyy and him had a bond. He would obey his every command, and try hard, just for him.
'Stepping stones isn't a move!' Colin called out.
'Nope! It's a tactic!' Flyy called back as Tick was jumping from boulder to boulder, getting closer and closer to Onix. 'Tackle!' Tick launched himself off of a rock harder than he done for the others and shot straight a Onix. He landed between his eyes and took him out.
'But Tackle isn't very effective against Rock-Types! What have you done to that Pokemon?' Colin whined.
Flyy was pretty impressed as well. 'It's a Critical Hit!' called Falkner.
'Good,' Colin said angrily, 'that means its just luck!' Onix growled in pain after the blow. Tick had jumped off of its nose and run down the body. 'Onix! Use Tail Whip!' As Tick was just reaching the tip of the tail, it flicked, sending him flipping through the air. He looked like he was about to land next to the tail again! 'Use Slam!' and the tail swung this time, knocking Tick just as he came down to land.
He went sailing into the brick wall that surrounded the garden. 'Tick!' Flyy called out.
'Nighty-night, Tick!' Colin mocked. Flyy decided this persin wasn't very nice after all. 'Let's all go inside and have some hot chocolate. I have whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and these really cute little marshmallows that taste little clou-'
'Shut up
, you stupid birk!' Flyy shouted at him, just before he ran over to Tick. He seemed OK.
'Can you carry on, buddy?' Tick nodded. 'Let's smash this guy up, OK?' Tick smiled and jumped from Flyy's arms. He stumbled from the impact of the landing, but he soon began running over to the battlefield again.
'Me and Tick are able to carry on, Falkner.'
'Let the battle continue!' he called.
Onix was up by now and was opening its mouth, an orange glow dwelling inside. 'Prepare for your demise, Flyy!' Colin called out. Then he gasped, as Tick was gone. 'Where the hell...?'
'Finish this, Tick!' and Tick burst out from his Quick Attack and ran up Onix's tail. He reached his head and kicked off, sending the Onix back to the ground.
The blast from the Hyper Beam that followed was immense. When Onix hit the ground, the beam had become trapped, and had no choice but to blast the ground, sending him flying. Even the humans stumbled!
Tick landed on the floor with a loud crack, but he had only let off a Thundershock as he hit the ground.
Colin managed to capture Onix before he hit the ground and sent out a massive earthquake.
'This isn't fair!' Colin screamed. 'Tauros! Go!' Colin illegally threw another Great Ball and a big, brown, furry bull came out. It roared and then stamped its front legs.
'Colin! You are disqualified for cheating! Also, Flyy minced you anyway...' Falkner laughed, so did Flyy and Kim.
Colin wasn't paying attention. He jumped onto Tauros and charged.

Smith and Sleuth were joining in with the rest of the city people and looking over the wall of Colin's garden. He was amazed that the stolen Electrike obeyed Flyy so well. It reminded him of Sleuth and himself years ago.
He quickly shook those thoughts out of his head as he saw the young man jump onto a Tauros. He quickly whipped out his badge and began milling through the crowd.
When he reached the wall, it was too late. Flyy was being chased around the battlefield with Electrike at his heels, shooting random charges of static electricity at the Tauros. One got the Tauros, but it didn't go down.
Smith vaulted the wall quickly, Sleuth bounding along behind him, and stuck his badge out in front of him.
The man riding the Tauros quickly stopped. Flyy fell to the ground and the Electrike tripped over him.
'You, sir! Man on the Tauros! You are under arrest!' Then he turned to Flyy. The fourteen-year-old was struggling to get up. He had twisted his ankle. 'I'm afraid I will have to take your Electrike, Flyy' he said as sympathetically as possible. The man on the Tauros had returned his Pokemon and was trudging over to Smith and Sleuth.
'I knew you were going to be here soon' Flyy said in pain. The Electrike was standing behind him. 'I know what my dad did was wrong, but Tick and me here,' he paused, pointing to the Electrike curled up behind him. 'We are beginning to bond. I saved his life, and I've helped him. I'm sure he would rather be with me than cooped up in Professor Elm's Lab!' Flyy was reduced to tears.
Smith felt sorry for Flyy and Tick, but he had a job to do, and he was
going to get that Pokemon back.
'Please don't take my friend away.'
'Flyy, he isn't even yours in the first place.' Smith had to reason with this child.
'Not my Pokemon, no. But he is
my friend. How would you like it if I took that Luxio from you?' Flyy protested.
Smith looked at Sleuth. 'I would,' he paused. Falkner raised his eyebrow, and Kim smiled a cheeky smile. 'I would hate it...' he finally said quietly.
'Can we go now? These handcuffs really hurt!' Colin moaned.
'Be quiet, please!' Smith shouted. Colin shut up. 'I have been told to collect an Electrike for Professor Elm. The one your dad stole, so if you would, please' he said holding his hand out.
Flyy shot a quick glance at Falkner and Kim. Kim was whispering something to her Clefairy, Daffodil.
'No' he said plainly. 'I'm not going to.'
'Then you leave me no choice. Sleuth, use Thunder Fang on that Electrike!'
'Metronome!' Kim shouted. She was playing her luck. She needed this to work.
Daffodil's hands began waving and glowing. She opened her mouth and black gas poured out. Yes!
Kim said to herself. She was hoping for a Smog, but Smokescreen would do.
'Come on
, Flyy' she shouted at Flyy. They ran back through the house; Falkner, Flyy, Tick, Kim and Daffodil.
They ran out of the front door and headed to the Gym. Falkner said that they would be safe there, and Flyy and him could have their battle in private.
'This whole building is soundproof,' he said. 'And I locked us in and blacked out the windows. If we can't get out, they can't get in!'
'I can't believe you two are battling now, of all times!' Kim shouted, her arms crossed.
'We need to, Flyy needs to be a master!' And Falkner drew his first PokeBall...
