The burning wreck was causing panic amongst the townspeople. Rocket had planned to steal more Pokemon and get away without being caught, but it looked like they had failed, especially when Flyy showed up.
'What do you think your doing?' he shouted.
'Nothing that concerns you, kid!' the Grunts shouted back. They were piling several PokeBalls into a big black bag. A big red 'R' was emblazoned across the front.
'It doesn't look like nothing.' He took off his bag and Tick jumped out. 'This is our last battle, Tick. I'm giving you up. I can't go on like this. Elm will take care of you.' Tick didn't like hearing it the second time. When he said that earlier it hurt, but now he knew Flyy was serious.
'Thunder Fang!' Tick charged for the nearest Rocket's Machop. It let out a cry of pain and fell unconscious afterwards.
'What the-?'
'Now go for, Grimer!'
The owner of the Grimer had no time to react before the Thunder Fang had knocked it out.
'Flyy, don't give him u-!' Kim paused when she saw the Rocket's. 'Oh. My brother said you'd be here.'
'Kim! Use Peck's Gust to blow away the fire!' Flyy shouted. He turned over to Tick who was running around a Houndour, making it dizzy until it fell over. Flyy chuckled. He would miss Tick. The Grunts fled, leaving the bag behind.
Peck the Spearow succeeded in putting out the fire. Flyy charged at a door, but failed to open it.
'Tick!' Tick used Thundershock and basted the door apart. Flyy and Kim ran in to find a white lump lying on the floor.
'Professor?' Kim asked, edging forward to touch the lump.
The shape stirred, then jumped up. It made Kim and Flyy jump.
'Who are you?' the Professor asked.
'I'm Flyy Bazu, and this is Kim Clarkson.'
'B...B...B...Bazu?'
'Yes.'
'I'm so sorry I didn't mean to get your father locked up, I swear!' Elm sobbed.
'It's OK. He's coming out soon though, I have the Pokemon he stole.'
'The...Pokemon?' Elm pondered. 'My dear boy, we don't even know what was stolen.'
'An Electrike. His name's Tick. I want you to take good care of him, Professor.' Flyy found himself about to cry again. He was about to turn and leave when the Professor said:
'Did you fend off all of those goons with this Electrike?'
'Yes.'
'This Electrike has never liked humans, ever!' Flyy turned on his heel. 'What? He was acting as if I was his real trainer.'
'Flyy, you were the first person to even treat Tick as if he was actually your friend,' Elm said.
'I don't-'
'Flyy! Tick is yours! Even if he was stolen, he was given to you!' Kim shouted. 'And I don't know why your dad admitted to stealing Tick because he didn't do it!'
'Who did?'
'Monica Clarkson, Kim's mum.'
'D.I. Smith!' Kim said, surprised.
'She did it to protect herself. Miss Clarkson promised Team Rocket Tick. She framed Mr. Bazu. Mr. Bazu just got so scared that he admitted to it.' He looked at Flyy. 'She gave Tick to your dad because she said that her husband would get it. She pretended that he was her husband so that she wouldn't get caught.
'Getting his fingerprints everywhere was easy. In fact, she didn't have to do anything because they were already there. When Rocket finally showed up, there was no Manectric, or Electrike, so they torched the place and tried to steal all of the other Pokemon.'
'Dad!' Flyy cried. 'Hello, son.' Quentin Bazu was standing just behind Smith. Flyy ran up to him and hugged him. 'I thought they were after me son, they could have got you. I knew if I sent Mr. Smith to you, Monica would be found out.' He then turned to an upset Kim. 'I'm so sorry, Kim. Your mother misses you.'
'I don't blame anyone for my mum's arrest. She brought it on herself. But I want to know, why did mum do it?'
'Now that one, I don't know. Maybe when you and Flyy begin traveling you will find out.' Smith said.
'I need a Pokemon first though, sir,' Flyy said.
'Well, Flyy,' Elm said. 'You already have one.'
'Oh no, I couldn't he's yours.'
'Not acceptable I'm afraid, Professor,' Smith said. 'That is stolen property!'
'Well now I have it back, and now I'm giving it to Flyy.'
Flyy gasped. Tick turned around quickly and smiled at Flyy. He then ran up to him and pushed him over and started licking his face.
'Do you accept?' Elm asked. Flyy looked to his dad, then Smith, then Tick, then finally, Kim.
'Only if Kim can come on adventures with me.'
'Falkner said I could earlier, so I'll go!'
'Excellent! Tick, do you want to carry on traveling with me?' Tick paused, and then began jumping on the spot. A bolt of electricity spat out and struck Flyy. He fell over, slightly singed. 'I'll take that as a yes then?'
'I would like to see it when it's a Manectric though, OK?'
Flyy nodded. 'You best tell your mother, Flyy,' hid dad said.
'That's your job, old man!' Flyy said as he, Kim, Peck and Flyy's destined partner, Tick, ran out of the wreckage, and into New Bark Town, and into their newest adventure.
