Silver’s Journey Chapter1: Cleo The rain was falling from the sky. Black clouds rolled over the blue sky and made a noise that made him shake. He was running from the swarm that chased him. The Beedrill were disturbed by people taking their stings and selling them. Silver went to calm them, with no Pokémon to help him. His older sister, Magenta, was a trainer. He wanted to prove himself to his artistic parents. It took a lot to impress them. They did the Art Show on Jubilife TV every Saturday. He had a family Pokémon; Smeargle, obviously. The rain was beating on his head. It dripped down his face, mixed in with sweat, and fell into his mouth. One Beedrill flew past him. The bug-type froze and so did Silver. Eterna Forest was not the best place to be. Beedrill reared back and flew straight up. Silver ceased his opportunity and sprinted forwards. He looked up and saw the Beedrill charging down towards him. He sped up. He heard a loud buzzing behind him. Now a Vespiquen had appeared and was shooting her Attack Order at him. The swarm of bees shot from her gem and flew towards him. Silver needed a miracle to save him. A long, thin piece of silk caught his legs and pulled him over. Another bug. He had never got with the bug Pokémon and wanted to change that but had obviously failed. The tiny specs of yellow went straight over his head and faded away. The Vespiquen had now started shooting Power Gems at him. They took up the ground in front of him as they crept nearer and nearer. All of the Beedrill had fallen back except for the one who had now caught up with his Queen. The mysterious String Shooter had now appeared. It had large eyes and two wings on its back. He recognised his sisters Butterfree instantly. Hers had a mark on its wing that looked like a spider. Magenta then appeared next to it. “Now, Frea, use Take Down on that Vespiquen!” she shouted. Frea responded instantly. She flew towards the bee Pokémon. Vespiquen stopped. She looked at Frea. Then she reached out and grabbed her. Frea squirmed and released a sparkling green powder. The Sleeping Powder touched down on its head and it weakened its grip. She fell to the floor and started breathing lightly. “Excellent, Frea! Come on Silver, Mum is waiting.” Magenta helped him up and put her Butterfree back in its Great Ball. “Thanks, Magenta. I almost fainted back there. When I’m old enough to go on an adventure like you, I want a Pokémon just like Frea!” “You might one day” she replied. “No now!” Silver threw a tantrum every time he didn’t get his own way. He pointed to a tree. “Is there a Pokémon in that tree, Magenta?” he asked. “Let me see.” She released Frea and told her to hit the tree. A spider Pokémon fell out. “That’s a Spinarak. It’s a String Spitter apparently. If you want I’ll catch it for you.” “Really? For real?” “Yeah, why not.” She picked another Pokč Ball from her belt and threw to the ground. Her Rosie appeared in front of her. The Roselia spun around and petals danced around her. She stopped and aggressively pushed them with an invisible force towards the Spinarak. It hit it square on and it fell on its back. “Go on, Silver, you throw it.” Silver walked past his sister and took the Poké Ball from her hand. He faced his target and threw the ball. It opened and a stream of pure white light emitted from its open jaws. It closed around the Pokémon and shook. Once… Twice… Ping! He’d done it. His first Pokémon, though a bug, was ready to be taken away on an adventure with its partner. “Are you gonna give her a nickname?” Magenta asked. “Maybe Cleo. I like that name.” THREE YEARS ON… “Are you ready!” the voice on the tannoy asked. The two trainers looked at their partners. “Ocar and Slakoth! Ready?” Oscar put his thumbs up. “Silver and Cleo!” Ready?” Silver put his thumbs up. His first ever battle, he’d waited three years for this. His Mum had never let him go before. And now she had. Magenta was at the sidelines. Cheering him and his Spinarak on. Frea was there too, flipping around. “Then may the battle… commence!” the man with the microphone flung his arms down, his Mr Mime copying him. The cameras focused in on Cleo. They were filming a new show about trainers who are just starting their journeys and hope to be the best. The Slakoth started crawling towards Cleo. “Cleo! Use Poison Sting!” Silver commanded. Cleo jumped into the air, she shot herself at the foe, her point glowing purple. She hit Slakoth with such power that he was sent backwards. Slakoth stopped himself and lunged forwards, striking Cleo on the back with his claws. Cleo stumbled and braced herself for the next swipe. As it came down she scuttled to the left, then the right, until Slakoth got tired. He eventually did and fell asleep. Cleo scuttled onto his back and shot a String Shot onto its back. “Slakoth wake up!” Oscar shouted. “Cleo!” Silver shouted. “Flip!” At that, she pulled back on the string and flipped him from underneath her. She released her tension from the web and jumped off. Slakoth got up and turned to face Oscar. “Go! Get her!” No reaction. “Cleo! Now! Use the Combo! Silver exclaimed. The spider Pokémon jumped up again. Another web was shot from in between her pincers. It caught Slakoth’s back. “Great shot! Bring it home now, Cleo!” The point began to glow again and she shot down the web, retreating it back into her mouth. She flew towards Slakoth, striking him where the web hit him. A cloud of smoke arose around the battlefield. “It looks like… Cleo! Cleo has won! Congratulations Cleo and Silver!” the commentator said. Mr Mime ran towards Silver and handed him a ribbon. The Opening Ribbon. It symbolises the beginning of a new adventure, a new life. Silver took it and put in his satchel. Cleo jumped onto his shoulder and nibbled his ear. This was the beginning of a new adventure. He looked at the cameras and smiled. Then at his sister, who was also smiling.
