Ash Ketchum: Superman

A Pokemon/Superman story

Well, I hope everybody liked the last chapter! I hope youÕll like the fact that it didnÕt feel TOO rushed. The first two chapters were kind of short because I wanted a blasted cliffhanger at the end of the first chapter. Just donÕt get p**sed off at me for it, all right? Good. Again, the foreboding at the end of chapter 3 means that this one might go on for a while, so be f**kinÕ patient with it. Besides, I got more important things to worry about. By the way, IÕm REALLY sorry you got the third part again last week. I didnÕt discover this until the day I checked, and I realized I had accidentally sent in the third chapter by mistake. Again, IÕm REALLY sorry.

Ages:

Ash/Kal-El/Superman (theyÕre all the same guy, all right?): 15

Misty: 15

Brock: 19

ÒCaped Wonder Stops Heist, Saves 30,Ó read Ash, from the front page of a newspaper. ÒWow. This must be the guy you were talking about, Misty.Ó He said, pointing at a picture of himself (as Superman).

ÒLet me see!Ó Said Brock. ÒHey Ash, he does look a bit like you!Ó He said, remembering what Misty said about him.

ÒOnly heÕs taller, and he looks older,Ó said Misty, Òplus, his hair is well-groomed.Ó She said, looking at Ash and mocking him only a little bit.

ÒOh, yeah.Ó Said Brock. At the same time, everyone else on the street was looking at the same story in their copies of the newspaper, their eyes as wide as basketballs, some even wider.

ÒI wonder what his name is.Ó Said Ash.

ÒHe said his name is Kal-El and heÕs from a distant planet called Krypton. He said he got his powers from our sun.Ó Said Misty. (Note: Misty asked him how he could fly the previous night and he told her. I didnÕt feel like mentioning it in the previous chapter.)

ÒHow did you know that?Ó said Ash, feigning surprise, knowing that he already told her.

ÒI met him last night.Ó Said Misty. ÒHe also said that he was the only survivor of that planet.Ó She said.

ÒThat stinks,Ó said Brock. He couldnÕt help but be nosy and ask, ÒWhat else did you do with him?Ó

ÒI flew around with him,Ó she said somewhat dreamily, Ash feigning jealousy at the same time. ÒAnd thatÕs about it.Ó She said after seeing AshÕs face, fearing that he might get REALLY mad if she mentioned the fact that she kissed him.

ÒWhy do you think heÕs here?Ó Asked Brock.

ÒWell since he did save you Misty, I think heÕs here to help others, using his powers, whatever they may be, to do so.Ó Said Ash.

ÒYou know Ash, I think you may be right,Ó said Misty, putting her index finger up to her chin and looking up in a thoughtful manner while she said it. ÒI mean, why else would he be here? If he was here to conquer, he wouldÕve done it by now.Ó

ÒI think youÕre right.Ó Said Ash.

ÒWith all those powers, heÕs like a Superman.Ó Noted Misty

ÒYou mean the †bermensch that Friedrich Nietzsche wrote about?Ó asked Brock, getting a nasty look from Ash.

ÒNo, not that kind,Ó said Misty. ÒThat one means beyond human. Kal-El isnÕt even human, despite having the same appearance. The †bermensch uses whatÕs called the ÔWill to PowerÕ for destruction of the old ideals. Kal-El doesnÕt seem to be interested in that.Ó

ÒMaybe that could be his name, Superman!Ó Ash said to Brock and Misty, fully embracing the name Misty gave to his other side.

ÒYou know, I did say that about him when I was with him last night. I told him that he looked like some kind of superman.Ó Said Misty.

ÒI wonder what powers he has?Ó Said Brock.

            ÒFlight, obviously.Ó Said Misty.

            ÒSuper strength.Ó Suggested Ash.

            ÒSuper sight.Ó Added Misty.

            ÒMaybe super-hearing?Ó Said Ash.

            ÒPossibly.Ó Replied Misty.

ÒSomeoneÕs gonna have to talk to this guy about it.Ó Said Ash, not wanting to raise suspicion to himself if he listed all of his own powers.

ÒMaybe I could do it for the Cerulean Times!Ó Exclaimed Misty. (Note: in this story, sheÕs a guest writer for the Cerulean City newspaper, which IÕve named the Cerulean Times.)

ÒWhat!?Ó Said Ash, pretending to be jealous.

ÒIs that a hint of jealousy I hear?Ó Misty asked slyly.

            ÒUmÉno.Ó SuddenlyÉ

ÒHELP! FIRE!Ó Yelled someone. The three turned and saw a high-rise building in flames.

            ÒOh my God!Ó Yelled Brock.

            ÒThunderinÕ Jaysus!Ó Yelled Ash.

ÒThis looks like a job for you-know-who!Ó Said Misty. Ash knew this was his cue.

ÒIÕll go call the fire department. You two stay here.Ó He said.

            ÒOkay, then.Ó Said Misty.

ÒDo that!Ó added Brock. And Ash ran away (Not in a cowardly sense, alright?). Ash ran a good distance and found just what he was looking for-a phone booth with tinted windows. He called the fire department from the phone booth, and then removed his capÉ

ÒSOMEBODY HELP ME!!!Ó Yelled the woman trapped in the burning building. The fire department was already there, since it didnÕt take very long (firefighters have to be ready to go at a momentÕs notice, so as soon as they heard that call, they went into action immediately) for them to get there. Unfortunately, the flames were too intense, meaning that the firefighters couldnÕt get to her. A crowd had gathered near the building, and several news crews were there as well. Suddenly, there was an explosion, and the woman was thrown out of the window by the force of the explosion, now screaming loudly. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw something blue flying towards her. Ash flew as fast as he could towards the burning building and saw the woman fall. Once he saw this, he reached his arms out and managed to catch her and calmly said,

ÒEasy miss, IÕve got you.Ó He said as he stopped in mid-air.

ÒYouÕve got me? WHOÕS GOT YOU?Ó She replied, obviously surprised. He turned his attention towards the flames. He took a big breath and blew out the fire like it was birthday candles. The crowd, though amazed at what they saw, was cheering loudly as Superman and the woman touched ground.

ÒYeah, Superman!Ó Yelled Misty, hoping the news crews heard her. He set the woman down on the ground, and said to the paramedics,

ÒGentlemen, make sure sheÕs okay.Ó The paramedics rushed to the womanÕs side and led her to the ambulance. As she was led to the ambulance, she yelled Òthank youÓ to Superman, which he acknowledged. Several journalists approached him, and one asked,

ÒExcuse me sir, but whatÕs your name?Ó Superman looked and found Misty in the crowd. He calmly said,

ÒSuperman.Ó Using the name that she had coined.

ÒGreat!Ó the reporter who asked the question said, him and the others writing it down on their note pads. ÒCan I ask why youÕre here?Ó Superman politely replied,

ÒYou know, I think IÕll save that for another time, place and person.Ó He said as he winked at Misty. She blushed at his comment. ÒWell, IÕm off.Ó He said, and took off. The reporters gathered their notes and called their respective newspapers, saying things like,

ÒChief, I got the biggest story for you since Jesus calmed the sea,Ó among other things. The crowd started to thin out, although people were still talking amongst each other, saying, ÒDid you see that?Ó ÒThat was incredible.Ó ÒDid you see how he caught her?Ó Soon, it was just Misty, Brock, Pikachu and Togepi who were left. Then Ash showed up a minute after the crowd had thinned out, panting heavily, obviously from running.

ÒSo what did I miss?Ó He said.

ÒPika Pika! Pikachu, Chu, pi pika ka pika! Pika pika!Ó Said Pikachu (Did you think IÕd actually forget about the most popular character of the series? Hell no!), which translated to, Òthere was this big explosion! The woman in the building fell but Superman saved her! Then he blew out the fire!Ó

            Ò He did WHAT!?Ó

ÒYou heard what he said, Ash. Too bad you missed it.Ó Said Misty.

ÒYeah, I guess so.Ó He replied, pretending to be disappointed, trying to keep them from knowing that it was he who did that.

ÒAlright, IÕve had enough excitement for one day. What do you say we get out of here?Ó Said Brock.

ÒYou mean leave town?Ó Asked Misty.

            ÒYep.Ó He replied.

ÒOkay. But I gotta mail something first.Ó Ash said, clutching a piece of paper.

ÒAlright, weÕll meet you at the Pokemon Center and then leave.Ó Said Misty.

ÒOkay, see you guys at the Center!Ó He said, running away.

ÒWhat is he mailing?Ó Said Brock.

ÒI donÕt care, and I donÕt want to know. Mail is private business for people. ItÕs best we not ask.Ó Said Misty.

            ÒYouÕre right.Ó Said Brock.

Ash went to city hall and presented something to an attendant in the lobby, and said, Òexcuse me miss, but could you make sure this gets to the mayor?Ó

ÒSure,Ó The attendant replied. ÒWeÕll have it to him soon.Ó

ÒOkay, thanks!Ó Yelled Ash as he left. The attendant didnÕt even bother to read what was in the note.

5 minutes later, Ash arrived at the Pokemon Center. After they had lunch (This chapter took place in the morning, just so you know.) After checking to see if they had everything, the three travelers left. Brock, his mind bugging him about AshÕs note, could not help but ask, Òso Ash, what did you mail?Ó Ash and Misty glared at him for asking that, and he quickly apologized, saying it was none of his business. As they left, Misty and Brock were thinking about-guess who-Superman. Ash, meanwhile, was looking forward to the next city, and to some alone time with Misty (not in a perverted way, dammit! I meant the romantic kind, alright?)É

ÒMr. Mayor, this note just came in for you.Ó The secretary told the mayor through the intercom.

ÒAlright, give it to me.Ó He already had some people in his office discussing this ÒSupermanÓ character. When he got the note, he noticed that the envelope said, ÒTo the mayor of Summer City. From, a Friend.Ó The mayor opened the envelope and read the note inside. It said:

ÒDear Mr. Mayor-I must inform you that I will be leaving your fine city. It has treated me well, and I thank you for your hospitality. Where I am going next, I cannot say. I am not leaving because I do not like your city-it is a beautiful city-but I believe that I am needed elsewhere. Who knows? Maybe IÕll come back here some day. Thank you for having me here. Sincerely, Superman.Ó The mayor put down the note, and said,

ÒWell, Superman, it was mighty fine having you.Ó

ÒOh man, itÕs great to breathe some fresh air.Ó Ash said, now that they were in the countryside.

ÒI wonder why that guy was here?Ó asked Misty, her mind filled with thoughts of you-know-who.

ÒWho knows? But I think what heÕs doing.Ó Said Brock.

ÒYeah, me too.Ó Said Ash. IÕm really glad you appreciate my services. I just hope that the next town will. I just hope the mayor of Summer City doesnÕt hold it against me now that IÕm gone. He thought, looking forward to the previously mentioned alone time with Misty and the future for Superman.

---------------------End chapter------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, howÕd you like it? I know that itÕs been a while, but IÕve been busy, what with school and all. IÕll get to work on the next chapter real soon, so stay tuned! By the way, I just felt like making up the name Summer City.
