Part 23

Gary looks at me with his dark eyes as a smirk slowly appears on his face. I stand firm in front of the door that I just walked through, with two guards laying unconscious (from a shock treatment) behind me.

"Well well well. Professor Rose Thorn, I’m so glad that you could drop by, but I’m waiting for someone."

"I know, but he isn’t here, I am."

"Then I guess that Misty isn’t here either." And he pushes Misty off the building.

I run to the side of the building, alarm flowing through all of me while Misty screamed. And Gary, all he did was smile triumphantly.

"Misty! Hold on!" I cry. I think frantically for some way to save her...

I got it! Concentrating on her body, I wrap my Psychic abilities around her. I pull them up tightly and Misty’s body suddenly jerks up and stops falling.

Gary’s jaw dropped as he saw Misty hovering in one spot. I ignore him. I slowly lower Misty towards the ground foot by foot, the strain apparent on my face. Although I couldn’t see her expression, I knew that she too was amazed at what was happening.

Suddenly pain shoots though my right arm and my other hand instinctively covers it. I pull my hand away, my hand was covered with my dark red blood.

Gary smirks at me, he held a gun at my heart.

I hear Misty’s distant "Omff." as she lands on the cement on the ground level. At least she is safe. Ash should find her soon.

"Somehow you saved Misty, I know that. But you won’t be able to save yourself."

My eyes widen and I sprint for cover as a bullet nearly hits me. But I never make it. I land on my right side, on the arm with the bullet inside of it. I scream in pain as it shoots through my arm again.

Gary towers over me, laughing.

"I expected more from you Professor. Mrs. Ketchum told me you were the best, and I believed her. I wanted you to give me a challenge and here you are, cowering over your injured arm."

He grabs me by my necklace and pulls me forward. "You’re not even worth my time. Your just a nuisance, hoping to save her precious few friends." He inches me closer to his face. "But your too late. Their dead! I starved them to death!"

No... Brock... he... he can’t be dead... and Pikachu...

"So your plan to save your friends was a complete waste of time and you will lose you life because of them."

My necklace breaks and I fall on the floor, hard. He throws it, it disappears, and points the gun back at me.

"So goodbye Professor." And the bullet shoots out of the barrel of the gun.

Brock... he can’t be gone...

"NO!" I scream. A blast of brilliant white light suddenly flashes. My psychic bubble appears around me from my immense anger. The bullet bounces off my protective shield and lands on the floor.

Gary face becomes white from terror then it disappears. I slowly stand onto my feet and he steps back. A second bullet falls to the ground. Another look of panic crosses his face as he looks at my right arm. It had completely healed, and my strength was restored.

I had used Recover. My bubble becomes concealed but the fire in my blue eyes never does, it burns brightly.

"You will pay for the innocence that you have killed." I say through gritted teeth. I walk towards him and he starts backing up. A bullet bounces of my shield, but goes unnoticed.

"For Ash, Misty, my Professor, your Grandfather." Another bullet hits my shield. Gary’s anger apparent.

"My mother and Ash’s mother, Delia Ketchum." a new bullet hits and falls to the ground.

"For Celebi, my Pikachu. All the Pokemon that you killed." one more bullet bounces off my shield. Gary’s back was now against the side of the building.

"And the person I love the most, Brock Slate." I stare at him cowering at the edge. "But no matter how many people you killed in my life I will offer you a brief mercy."

His face scrunches into a snarl. "And what’s that?"

"I will let you leave unharmed if any of your Pokemon defeats me, and only me, in a battle. The Final Battle. If none of you Pokemon can kill me, I will kill you."

"And that’s all you want from this deal? Just me? Dead?"

"No, that not the only thing I will receive. I also want you to know before you die that you tried everything to save your sorry little behind, even using your Pokemon."

"And what makes you think that I won’t just shoot you?"

I smirk. "Because you’re out of bullets." His mouth drops. I back up a few yards from him.

"Send out your first Pokemon!"

Gary pulls a black and silver Pokeball from his belt and rolls it in his hand. He throws the ball into the air.

"I choose you!"
