The Chosen Pikachu

Part 1

High above the clouds, beyond space itself is the most peaceful place for Pokemon. Some of the Pokemon there haven't been to earth yet. But most have, in the wild or as a tamed Pokemon for a trainer. At the end of each Pokemon’s life their spirit comes here. And this is the place where my story begins.

Two years before Ash turns ten and gains his Pokemon license, all spirit Pokemon are gathering above the clouds, in heaven itself.

At the Shrine of Lugia in heaven the legendary spirits gather. Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Entei, Rikou, Suicune, Celebi, The Regies, Latios, Latias, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, and Deoxys float to the shrine. Their souls are transparent and there have a yellow glow around them.

The Great Lugia swiftly flew up to the top of the shrine with its slivery wings glowing. “Brothers, I have heard from the Unown and the Celebi of the present. They have told me in four years the harmony of fire, ice, and lightning will be greatly disturbed. The whole planet earth will be in grave danger. Ash the chosen one will be in the Orange Islands at that time. We must send a Pokemon who has already been to earth there to be his Pokemon and guide him to save the earth.” Lugia paused suddenly then continued talking, “I will meet with Celebi and it will tell me the chosen Pokemon. That is all.” Lugia flapped his giant wings and all of the Pokemon disappeared within the rolling clouds.

ONE YEAR LATER

Professor Oak explores Viridian Forest in hope of finding a Pokemon for his research. Suddenly the sky glows yellow and the trees glow white. The Professor stops quickly and he cautiously looks around.

He looks up in the paling sky. A very small glowing object was slowly being lowered to the ground. Beautiful, radiant light surrounded the object as it slowly dropped to the lush brush not to far from the Professor.

It was a Pikachu! It stood behind the brush with its stubby arms folded and a cross look on its transparent face. Right in front of it The Great Lugia appeared. It was the same size as the Pikachu and he floated in the free air around the Pikachu.

“Lugia... Why does it have to be me? Why am I the chosen Pokemon? I’ve already been to Earth and I died for a human who didn’t even care about me. How do I know this one won’t be different? How can I be the only spirit Pokemon who can make a difference? Huh?” Pikachu was very upset, its eyes glowed as it looked at Oak through the thick brush.

Lugia coked his head to the side and he spread his great wings. “Pikachu, the Unown can go into the future. They saw you there with Ash. This is your destiny. As soon as the day happens and Earth is saved you can return to heaven. I shall explain your task. In one year you will become Ash’s first Pokemon. Treat him as you wish, but don’t hurt him! After that it will be two years before fire, ice, and lightning is disturbed. You will be able to sense it, all Pokemon will. The weather will change; the seas will get rough. You will be taken to an island and there, Ash will be chosen as the Chosen One. You and him will venture to the islands of fire, ice, and lightning and collect the ancient spheres. My present relative will help you. As soon as the Guardian's song quells the fighting, I will come down and get you. So off you go. Let him capture you and don’t talk human, talk Pokemon!” Lugia disappeared without a trace.

Pikachu leaned into the brush and stared at the Professor. He was rummaging through all of the surrounding bushes. Come on! Over here! Look in this bush! I’m not just gonna come out and let you capture me, so come and find me! Pikachu thought in its mind over and over again. Fine, I’ll just come out!

Pikachu slowly moved to the side of the bush. He was in plain view of the Professor, yet he didn’t notice the grumpy yellow Pokemon. Pikachu slid his hand down his face and sighed. The only way I’m going to get his attention is if I talk. I sure hope I can do this.

“Pi! Err, chu! Pikachu!” Pikachu ducked down very low on the grass. The Professor looked over and he saw the electric Pokemon shivering. He came over and held out a red and white Pokeball.

Pikachu stood up with its cheeks rapidly sending out small sparks. The Professor raised his hand and he threw the shiny ball into the air. While in mid-air the Pokeball opened releasing a bright red light. The light gathered on the ground and it took shape of a growling Charmander!

Charmander snarled at Pikachu and the flame on its tale grew very tall. Pikachu watched it grow then with all its might it tackled the fire Pokemon. It hit Charmander hard only bouncing off its belly, not even leaving a scratch. Pikachu flew back and hit the ground hard. He quickly got to his feet, on all fours.

The flame on Charmander’s tail grew yet larger. The Professor called out a command. “Charmander use Rage now!” Charmander lunged forward and he knocked into Pikachu with its steel skull. Pikachu laid on his back, motionless. Throw a Pokeball Oak. I’ll let you catch me! Just do it now! Pikachu thought as he squinted his black eyes.

“Great job, Charmander. I’ll take it from here.” The Professor held out Charmander’s Pokeball. It opened and released a blinding white light. The light surrounded Charmander and in a second it was gone. Oak put the Pokeball back on his belt and he took off an empty one. “Pikachu you’re mine!” Oak threw the Pokeball and it hit Pikachu on its belly. The Pokeball lay next to Pikachu and it opened up taking Pikachu in with ease. The Pokeball didn’t even wiggle and the red light on the fastener went out, sealing the Pokemon inside.

The Professor went over to the Pokeball, picked it up, and put it on his belt. He slowly turned around looking up at the sky and he ran back to the lab in Pallet Town.
