Journey to Hoenn Part 2

A young girl rides her bike through the woods of Hoenn. “Hi, my name is May and I’m ten years old. I’m on my way to meet my dad’s friend, Professor Birch, and to get my beginners Pokemon. Then I can begin my journey as a Pokemon trainer. But just between you and me what I’m more interested in is traveling and seeing new places.” May looked head. “There it is, Littleroot Town just ahead...” Just then a ghost Pokemon leaped out of the bushes. The Pokemon was wearing a small gray robe and you could only see its skeleton face, this Pokemon is a Duskull. May yelled, lost control of her bike and ran into a tree! “I guess I should’ve worn a helmet” She said.

Then May quickly got back on her bike and she continued her ride. “The truth is, I don’t like Pokemon,” She stated. The path ahead got shorter and below the cliff she was on, was Littleroot Town. “But the traveling... I just love it!”

Down at Littleroot Harbor, Professor Birch arrived in his safari truck. “Are you Ash Ketchum?” The Professor asked.

“Yes, are you Professor Birch?” Ash asked.

“Let me see.” The Professor leaned over and took a look at Pikachu. “Not good. Let’s get it to my lab immediately.” He and Ash leaped in the safari truck. “Hold on tight.” Professor Birch slammed on the gas pedal and the truck sped off. He turned sharply at a curb and rode through the woods. “It’ll be faster this way.”

Pikachu lay silent and motionless in Ash’s arms. “Hang on, Pikachu.” Ash mumbled.

They were at the lab in no time. Standing at the door was Professor Birch’s assistant. The Professor ran in with Pikachu in his arms, and Ash quickly fallowed. “Set it down here.” The assistant said, pointing to a small metal table.

The Professor sat Pikachu down and put lightning rods on its cheeks. “This 0machine will rid Pikachu of its unneeded electrical power. All systems... on!”

The assistant flipped the switch, as Ash knelt down by Pikachu. Pikachu’s teeth were bared. The yellow meter on the machine started increasing. “The machine isn’t going to hold.” The assistant said.

“Keep going.” The Professor replied. Just then the machine exploded, releasing Pikachu from the rods. It darted through the hole in the wall, out into the woods.

“Pikachu!” Ash yelled, and he ran after it.

“Ash try using some of your Pokemon.” The Professor called.

“I don’t have any other Pokemon!”

“Well then we’re just gonna have to use some of mine.” Birch said as he grabbed three shiny Pokeballs.

“Wait aren't those for May and Sammy to choose from?” The assistant called.

“When they get here just tell them to wait.” He ran into the woods after Ash.

May rode up on her bike. “Hi, I’m looking for Professor Birch,”

“May! May, wait! Please!” A young girl about the age of 11 ran towards May.

“Sammy! What are you doing?”

“Getting my first Pokemon. I’ve been fallowing you ever since you left home, but as I was running I remembered I left my bike here so, I started to walk...” Sammy said as she ran to her bike.

“Professor Birch is on an emergency in the woods and asked if you stayed here.” The assistant said.

“I’ve never been to good at waiting, bye.” Both of the girls shouted as they rode into the woods.

“Wait!” The assistant yelled.

“Pikachu!” Ash called out. He was trying desperately to find is Pokemon.

“Pi.” Pikachu was walking in a patch of tall grass, some way away from Ash. Its vision was a purple blur, and everything it saw it ran from. The poor Pokemon sat still in the grass.

Meanwhile Professor Birch hunted closer to his lab at the far end of the Pokemon reserve. “Pikachu!” He called, looking high up. “Whoa!” Birch slipped and fell of the cliff he was standing on and landed right on the dog Pokemon, Poochena.

“Aroo!” It shouted. Then the angry Pokemon howled and more Poochena joined him.

“Sorry to drop in on you Poochena.”

They stood there growling and then charged at the Professor. He ran around and around a small tree, then with quick thinking the Professor leaped on to the tree. Just then Sammy and May showed up.

“Hey, Professor you okay?” May called out to him.

“May, Sammy! I’m so glad to see you. May do see my bag?”

“This brown one?”

“Ya, listen grab one of the Pokeballs and use that Pokemon.”

“Ummm... Okay. Which one?”

“Any will do!” May opened the bag and grabbed a Pokeball.

“Okay, come on out...” She threw the ball and a small water Pokemon named Mudkip came out. “Now what?” She called.

“May have you been studying Pokemon at all? Tell it to use an attack, which would be Water Gun.” Sammy remarked.

“Okay use Water Gun.” May said as she pointed to Mudkip.

“Mud!” The blue Pokemon shot a huge stream of water at May.

“I guess I need to study more...”

“Mudkip use Water Gun on the Poochena.” Birch yelled.

“Kip!!!!” Mudkip shot a full stream of water at the dog Pokemon and they went flying through the air.

“Good job Mudkip, return.” The Professor ran over to his bag and called Mudkip back in its Pokeball.

“Piiiiiii, kaaa, CHUUUUU!”

“Whoa. What was that?” Sammy questioned.

A Meowth air balloon flew over Ash and his Pikachu.

“Ha, ha, ha, ha. Give us your Pikachu!” A teen-age girl shouted from the balloon.

“Never!” Ash called back.

“Well then we’re just gonna have to take it. Activate Pikachu Grab and Drain!” A cat-like Pokemon shouted. A rubber hand shot out from the balloon and grabbed Pikachu, then it started to drain it.

“With a weaker Pokemon, our boss can catch it easier.” A teen-age boy shouted from the balloon.

“Pika? Chuuu!” Pikachu woke up and looked fine. It shot a very powerful wave of electricity at the balloon.

“Oh no! The absorber can only hold so much power!” Meowth said in a shaky voice. The balloon exploded and as usual Team Rocket blasted off again.

Pikachu was now free and it ran from Ash as if he was a hunter. The mouse shot bolts of electricity in all directions. In its vision of blur the Pokemon ran off a cliff!

“Pikachu!” Ash ran to the edge and saw that Pikachu had grabbed a small root and was hanging in the air.

“Ash! We’re here. Did you find Pikachu?” Professor Birch, May, and Sammy ran up to Ash.

“Ya, Pikachus in trouble. Do you have some rope? You could lower me down and I could grab Pikachu.”

“I think I have some.” May searched her bag and pulled out strong rope. Then she tided it to Ash and the Professor lowered him down.

“I’m coming Pikachu, hang on.” In a moment they had Ash back up with Pikachu.

“Looks like it woke up.” Professor Birch said.

“Piiii, kaaaaa, CHUUUUU!”

“Oh no! My bike! Look at my bike!” May looked over at her now brown and rusted bike.

“Sorry. I guess Pikachu had a little extra energy. But anyway my name is Ash.”

“I’m May.”

“And I’m Sammy.”

“Come on; let’s go back to my lab. Ash you can let Pikachu rest while May and Sammy can get their Pokemon.”

“Okay.” They said together.

***

Back at the lab now, Ash put Pikachu in a small bed. “Rest up.” He went into the room he first came in with Pikachu. Sammy and May were there.

“Well girls here they are. First up Treeko.” The Professor held out a Pokeball and a small lizard-like Pokemon came out.

“Ahh. It’s creepy.” May ran behind Sammy.

“I think it’s cool.” Ash said.

“You like Pokemon a lot don’t you Ash.” The Professor asked.

“Sure do.”

“Well I like it. This is the one I wanted last year but I was in Kanto and they don’t have Treeko. So I choose Treeko.” Sammy went over and picked the Pokemon up. She grabbed a PokeDex and some Pokeballs.

“Well here’s the next Pokemon, Mudkip.” A small blue Pokemon appeared.

“That Pokemon wouldn’t listen to me.”

“Well then how about Torchic?” A smaller bird-like Pokemon appeared. It hopped over to May and rubbed her leg.

“I like it. I want Torchic.” May grabbed her Pokemon and got her PokeDex.

“May don’t forget your Pokeballs.” The Professor handed May five shiny Pokeballs.

***

Later that night May stopped by Ash’s room. “I’ll tell Ash to give me a new bike, or he’ll have to give the money for a new one.” She whispered as she opened the door. May saw Ash laying by Pikachu.

Pikachu got up and woke Ash up. “Pikachu you’re okay!” Ash almost shouted.

“Man, he really cares for Pikachu maybe I won’t ask him...”

***

The next morning everyone gathered outside. Ash had Pikachu on his shoulder and Sammy had Treeko by her leg.

“Well now that my bike is gone I need someone to travel with me through Hoenn...” May stated.

“Well to make up for it I’ll go with you.” Ash replied.

“I know I have a bike but can I come too?” Sammy asked.

“Hey now I have to travel with all the girls!” Ash shouted.

“Oh come on.” Sammy and May said.

“Alright.” Ash said. They all headed for the woods as Professor Birch and his assistant waved bye.
