Ash lay on his back, hands folded across his chest. Curled up against his legs, Pikachu slept soundly. Oblivious to the nocturnal noises of the forest. The trainer sat up and sighed, running a hand through his black hair.

It had been two weeks since the abduction. After the initial panic had been quelled, Misty had ordered that a force be sent out to find the organizations headquarters. For five days, there had been no luck, and the loved ones of the abducted were going crazy from stress and fear, Brock especially.

Then, a breakthrough. A ransom note had been sent calling for $50 million dollars. Immediately, Misty had refused, and the note was traced back to the source. Hidden in a forested valley of Mt. Moon, the headquarters were found. It hadn’t been long before every league representative and trainer and gym leader who had escaped the attack to be clamoring to go. In the end Misty, Ash, Gary, Sabrina, and Whitney and an elite force of 200 troops had packed up and were now camping out some 7 miles away.

Already battles had been thought, nothing major, but three people had died and Whitney herself had been wounded. What was worse, 6 pokemon were either dead or in the infirmary. Ash shuddered at that, it was a sick person who tried to, or ordered their pokemon to, kill another pokemon.

Ash sighed again, and stood, the top of his head nearly touching the top of the camp. So far, no great, conclusive plan had been conceived, but a meeting was to be held in his tent in approximately, he checked his watch and swore. Four minutes!

Hurriedly he started throwing his dirty clothes into a spare duffel bag and stacking the many, scattered plates and cups he had forgotten to return. But he was stopped by a tentative, “Ash?” at the door of his tent.

“Come in!” he shouted back, quickly hiding the dishes he had gathered beneath a spare blanket.

Misty entered his tent, looking odd in the standard combat gear that everyone had been issued. She looked around his still messy tent and raised a skeptical red eyebrow “I’m afraid I’ll be attacked by a sock if I sit down,” she said sarcastically.

Her comment had been directed to a pair of muddy socks that Ash had worn when they first trekked up here and hadn’t bothered to clean yet.

In reply, he offered her a chagrined smile and motioned for her to sit on the cot next to him. “Where’s Togepi?” he asked casually.

“In my tent with Gary. They’ll be here in moment, but I wanted to talk to you before the meeting started.”

Inwardly, Ash cringed at the thought of his childhood friend and rival as a couple, but he nodded.

“Gary and I,” Misty hesitated, seeking the right words, “Have known each other for awhile.”

Not as long as you’ve known me, Ash thought, but wisely kept his mouth shut and continued nodding.

“And,” Misty continued oblivious to her friend‘s discomfort, “we’ve been a couple since Brock’s wedding a little over a year ago.”

Another nod.

“So..”

Oh god, he knew what was coming, and braced himself fr it.

“we’ve,”

Time seemed to slow down for Ash, he watched in horror as words he never wanted to hear Misty to say spout of her mouth.

“Decided,”

Sweat broke out on his brow.

“to get,’

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

“married,” came the final, decisive word, like some forbidding bell toll.

“Great,” Ash’s mouth said as his head and heart screamed in collective horror.

Misty beamed, and hugged him around the shoulders. “I’m so glad you’re for this. You‘re the first person to know.”

No, I’m not for this, hissed that voice in his head.

“Ash, there’s one more thing.”

“Yah Mist?”

“Well, since I don’t have a Dad, or a brother, I need someone to walk me down the aisle. I’d love for it to be you.”

He could’ve been sick. He nearly was, but all he could do was smile and nod.

Misty flashed a brilliant smile at him, “Thanks Ash, you’re the greatest.’

Thankfully, at that moment, Sabrina and the troop commander entered the tent, sparing Ash from any making any further comment.

A/N YAY! I finally updated. Sorry it took so long, but I kept coming up with different ideas for this fic. But, I’ve finally decided what’s going to happen. I think…
