Emerald Skies pt. 1 No, I do not own Pokemon or any of it's characters, the only characters I own are Brynn and Angela and whoever else I make up. Deep within the region of Kanto, in a small town known as Pallet; a young girl was waking up. At first she did not remember what had caused her sense of consciousness to come back but remembered suddenly when a voice thundered up to her, "Brynn! Wake up! We are going to be late!" Brynn smiled to herself, leave it to her sister to wake her up early on the day their journey started, Angela had been waiting for this since she turned ten the week before; Brynn had postponed going on her journey so that she could go with her sister when she had turned ten. Brynn got up out of her bed and stretched sleepily, all her things were packed into her backpack the night before, she shook her long brown hair so as not to make it look messier than it all ready was and failing badly; she stood up and put on a red and white shirt and blue jean shorts before putting on her light blue sneakers. Before she headed downstairs she tied a dark blue bandanna over her head and made sure her hair was not a mess as she walked down the stairs to the living room where her sister was waiting, if you had looked at Angela and Brynn at first they looked like twins; but on closer look Angela had red hair that was tied back into a low ponytail like her sisters and had a red bandanna on her head. Angela's eyes showed every trace of impatience she had in her, her foot was tapping incessantly and she sighed gratefully when she saw Brynn come into the room, "Finally! I thought I would have to start my journey without you the way you were moving..." she said relieved. Brynn chuckled, "I was hurrying as fast as I could Angela, it's not like I couldn't have gone before you and let you do your own journey by yourself." she said as she and Angela sat down to a breakfast of cornflakes. Their parents were sitting in the dining room drinking coffee and talking calmly, it was apparent that they were hoping that both daughters would make them very proud during their journey by the looks they were giving them. Brynn finished her cereal and cleaned up her bowl while picking up her blue backpack and shouldering it and waiting by the door; Angela finished five minutes later and picked up her own red backpack and heading out the door with Brynn after saying goodbye to their parents and promising to be good. Brynn and Angela walked over to the biggest building in Pallet Town, the Pokemon Lab, as they opened the door Angela looked at Brynn anxiously, "I hope I get to choose a really good pokemon." she said as they walked inside. Brynn nodded, "I'm sure we will." she said as followed Angela, they looked around at the huge building and jumped when an overly-friendly voice said, "Well, well, I expected you two tocome earlier today but of course with some circumstances I understand, come over here and you can pick which pokemon you want for the trip." Professor Oak stood by a table and motioned them both to go forward, but as Angela picked up one of the pokeballs on the table the Professor looked at her sadly, "I'm afraid dear that the Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander that I had here are all taken by three trainers who started earlier than you did," "But," he added quickly as he saw their forlorn faces, "I do have two extra pokemon that I have been keeping for quite sometime. Hang on a bit and I'll go and get them for you." Professor Oak then walked quickly into the next room. When he emerged again, he had two regular looking pokeballs clutched in his hands and handed one to each of them; Angela let her's loose and gasped as a brightly colored Pidgey came out of it. Angela smiled brightly at the strange colored bird and looked at Brynn, "What do you think I should name it?" she asked. Brynn shrugged and Angela then smiled, "I know! I'll call you Rainbow! Rain for short." she said as she returned the pokemon. Brynn smiled knowingly and then opened her own pokeball, she shrieked in surprise as the enormus form of a Arcanine appeared looking down at her; the only thing different about this Arcanine from the others was the size and the dark blue flames that made up the Arcanine's fire. Brynn looked at Professor Oak expecting this to be a mistake, but Professor Oak smiled, "I picked both of those out especially for you two as your journey goes on I expect that you will have many grand adventures on your journey including on finding out about the prophecy..." he said mysteriously. Both of them were about to urge him to say more when the doors of the lab opened and a spiky brown haired boy walked in, "Gramps! I was supposed to leave on my journey an hour ago! Where on earth is the 'special' pokemon I'm supposed to get?" the boy shouted rudely ignoring the two girls by Prof. Oak. The Prof. looked at the boy angrily, "I thought I told you Mason that I was going to give it to you when you arrived here on time. Obviously you thought different of me or else you would have gotten here sooner and your pokemon would not be given away already..." Mason looked at the Prof. with a look of utmost dislike on his face, "What do you mean 'given away'? I was told that under no circumstances was I to be given any other pokemon besides the one you meant for me?!?!" he said with a voice of forced calm. Brynn put her pokeball into her backpack and began to walk out the door with Angela when Mason turned to them, "Gramps, I'll deal with you later." he muttered as he stood up straight and turned to Brynn who was closer, "Hello, Mason Oak. I'd be very happy to know the name of the very pretty young lady in front of me..." he said with what sounded like crude charm. Angela giggled at the sight of Mason acting so weirdly in front of her sister, but Mason's charm turned off suddenly as he rounded on her, "Do you think that this is funny do you? Maybe someone ought to show you a lesson in manners." he growled. Brynn glared at him, "Ok, first of all, you do not ever talk to my sister that way I don't care who you are but she deserves respect. Second, you need to lessen that attitude of yours buddy especially when talking to Prof. Oak. Third, I do not need to talk to you as we were just leaving....I hope to see you later Prof. thank you for the pokemon. Come on Angela." she growled angrily as she turned and walked out of the Lab with her sister and leaving a very stunned Mason staring at the door. They continued to walked the path in silence until Brynn broke it, "Look, I'm sorry if it looked like I was bad- tempered back there, but that guy is such a jerk, and no one disrespects my sister." she said looking over at Angela. Angela smiled, "Thanks for sticking up for me. Oh! Your poke ball is jiggling." she exclaimed as Brynn's Arcanine popped out of it's ball. The Arcanine looked down at Brynn smiling, "Arca, Arc." (Man, that ball in cramped.) Brynn smiled, "Well then you are just going to have to stay out of it won't you?" she said as she petted the Arcanine friendly. The Arcanine nodded and walked alongside of Brynn and looked at their surroundings...things were going to be very different on this journey.... To be continued..... Hi, people!
