Hi, y’all! This is bullfrog9143 and my first time actually writing fan fiction, so please respond. This story is about what happens when misty goes too far and pushes ash over the edge. It just so happens that this is the first and only song to ever make me cry. Plus it is a one shot. Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon in any way, shape, form, or fashion. Or in any peanut butter. Or this song for that matter. Whiskey Lullaby She put him out Like the burning end of a midnight cigarette She broke his heart He spent his whole life trying to forget He couldn’t believe she had done that to him. He had finally told her his true feelings, and she had shunned him, telling him that she didn’t love him. She had also ended their friendship. It had pushed him over the edge. “Misty,” he whispered, “why did you do it?” He needed to forget her, but it hurt him so much. We watched him drink his pain away A little at a time But he never could get drunk enough To get her off his mind Until the night... He had been drinking ever since that night, trying to dull the pain and dismiss the thoughts he had of her. Brock had tried to help him, but he couldn’t get through. The only one with a chance was Misty, but it was too late. Ash began to think life wasn’t worth living anymore, and everyone knew it. Except her. That night he went into his room and locked the door. He pulled the gun out of his bottom drawer, where he had hidden it ever since he had bought it a few days ago. He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away her memory Life is short, but this time it was bigger Than the strength he had to get up off his knees Brock and Mrs. Ketchum had been sitting in the kitchen discussing how to end Ash’s depression when they heard the gunshot. They rushed up the stairs only to find Ash dead on his bed with a note. The note said, “I’m sorry y’all have to endure this, but it is the only way. I have no reason to carry on. Remember me and who I could have become. I love all of you, especially you Misty, even though you can’t return it. Goodbye.” They found him with his face down in the pillow With a note that said, "I'll love her til I die." And when we buried him beneath the willow The angels sang a whiskey lullabye La la la la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la la la At the funeral, all of Ash’s relatives and close friends were there, as well as Misty. She was sitting down on a bench crying when Brock approached her. He started to console her when she opened up to him. “I know it’s all my fault. I drove him over the edge, and he killed himself. Why did I have to lie when he told me he loved me? I loved him with all my heart. If only I had told him.” The rumors flew But nobody knew how much she blamed herself For years and years She tried to hide the whiskey on her breath She knew how it would probably end, but she did it anyway. She started drinking, for the same reasons, she sobbed, he did. She was the one who had found Ash’s gun and kept it. And she started to think. She finally drank her pain away A little at a time But she never could get drunk enough To get him off her mind Until the night... She finally decided she needed to be with Ash, away from the world where nothing meant anything to her anymore. She took his gun out and loaded it. She was going out the way he did. She took the picture off of her bedside table and held it tight, mouthing the words, “I love you.” She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away his memory Life is short, but this time it was bigger Than the strength she had to get up off her knees No one was there to hear the gunshot. In the morning when her sisters came back to the Gym, they found her. Along with the picture was a note with one sentence on it. “ I need to be with Ash. They found her with her face down in the pillow Clinging to his picture for dear life They laid her next to him beneath the willow While the angels sang a whiskey lullabye At her funeral, everybody was there that she was close to. They buried her next to Ash, where she wanted to be, and Misty’s last thought came true. She was with Ash.
