CHAPTER 8
KAMON V.S. ERIKA

Kamon entered Celedon City and looked around.  It was impossible to find the gym with all of the skyscrapers around.  He wandered around the city for a half an hour before finding it.  He approached the gym and noticed a sign: for girls only.
"Well, how am I supposed to get in?" Kmaon asked himself.  Then, he noticed a small, open window.  He used his Golem to climb up to the window and tried to get in, and got stuck.  "Uh-oh, I think I'm stuck.  Golem, try to get me out of here."  Golem jumped up into the air and tugged on Kamon's shirt, and attempted to pull him free.  "Ouch.  Ouch.  Golem, stop tugging.  Golem!  Stop it!  You are going to brake my arm or something!"  Speak of the devil.  At that very moment, Kamon's left elbow was slammed against the wall inside the gym, and he broke it.  "OWWW!" Kamon yelled, and tried to grab his arm, but realized that he couldn't move his right arm, either.  A girl approached him and looked at him with disdain.
"What are YOU doing here?" the girl asked.
"Well," Kamon started, "I'm kinda stuck."
"A Peeping Tom, huh?  Trying to sneak into the gym?  Ha, security!"
"No!  No!  You got it all wrong!  I wanted to challenge the gym leader here to a Pokémon battle, but there was a sign in front of the gym saying that only girls are allowed in."
"Hahaha…that's really funny.  That sign expired three years ago after a trainer named Gary beat me.  So, now you are stuck in a window.  Ha, that's kinda funny," the girl said.
"Not from my view…hey…you said that a trainer named Gary beat you?  That would mean you are the Celedon Gym Leader, Erika, right?" Kamon questioned.
"Yes, I am," Erika replied.  "And you want to challenge me?"
"Yes, but that's not my number-one priority right now.  Getting out of this window is…"  By this time, the Gym's Security Officers made their way to Kamon.
"Could you help him out of this window?" Erika asked them.  The men in black (pun not intended) managed to squeeze him out.  They also had a first-aid kit and mended Kamon's arm and put it in a sling until he could get a cast.
"Well, now that that has been solved, lets battle.  How many Pokémon, Erika?" Kamon asked.
"Is a six-on-six All right?  Ready?  Vileplume, you can start!"
"Heh.  Delibird, go!  Delibird, Ice Beam attack!"  Delibird flew up into the air and blasted a beam of blue ice at Vileplume, knocking it of of its feet.
"You think your Delibird can win using such weak attacks?" Erika questioned.  "You've got a lot to learn about Grass Pokémon.  Vileplume, Petal Dance!"  Large, pink petals floated around Vileplume and then zoomed towards Delibird, slicing through him.
"Delibird, Sky Attack!" Kamon commanded.  Delibird started glowing and spinning around in circles, with fire surrounding him.  All of a sudden, Delibird divebombed Vileplume, and knocked it out.
"Vileplume!  Oh, my goodness!  Return.  Okay, Meganium, go!"  Erika threw a Pokéball into the arena, and the colossal green Pokémon with huge, purple leaves coming from its long neck emerged.  "Meganium, Razor Leaf, now!"  Small, razor-sharp petals sailed at Delibird, cutting him.
"Delibird, that won't stop you.  Icy Wind, now!" Kamon commanded, pointing his finger at the enemy Pokémon.  Delibird flapped its wings, and a flurry of snowflakes and freezing air blew at Meganium.  The damage was mediocre, but the effect of the attack wasn't.  Meganium's speed was lowered, giving Delibird a chance to attack.  "Aurora Beam attack, Delibird!"  A colorful beam was shot at Meganium, but it came back with Body Slam, making Delibird faint.  "That's All right, Delibird, you were good.  Now, Typhlosion, you will attack!  Flamethrower!"  Kamon's flaming Pokémon came from the yellow-and-black Ultra Ball.  Typhlosion ignited Meganium with the fiery attack Flamethrower, and, along with the incredible amount of damage it received, it became burnt.
"Meganium, Earthquake attack, now!" Erika said.  Meganium stomped on the ground, making it shake.  Typhlosion took some damage, but it was still ready to take on whatever Erika could throw.
"Typhlosion, finish it!  Flame Wheel!"  A ring of fire rose around Typhlosion, and then sailed at Meganium, engulfing it.
"No!  My Meganium…come back into your Pokéball where you can be safe.  Jumpluff, go!  Use your Sludge Bomb!"  Jumpluff launched a ball of poison toward Typhlosion, critical hit and poisoning it.
"Is that all you got?  Typhlosion, make this a one hit knock-out.  Fire Blast!"  Typhlosion blasted a wall of flames at Jumpluff, but it did not get knocked out like Kamon had planned.
"Yes!  Jumpluff is alive!  It hung on with the Focus Band!  Yay!  Jumpluff, Synthesis, now!"  A beam of light came through the greenhouse-type glass roof and recovered Jumpluff's health.
Kamon said, "No…"  Kamon gritted his teeth.  "Typhlosion, Fire Punch!"  Typhlosion blew fire on his fist, igniting it.  He then charged at Jumpluff, and punched her.
"Aack!  My Jumpluff!  Come, on, use Sludge Bomb!"
"Never.  Typhlosion, Quick Attack!"  Typhlosion dashed at Jumpluff and rammed into her, knocking it out.
"Not another one…Jumpluff, return.  Ivysaur, attack it with Body Slam!" Erika said, throwing another Pokéball into the arena, but this time from the shimmering light came the Grass-type Pokémon, Ivysaur.  Ivysaur slammed on top of Typhlosion, almost knocking it out.  After a small amount of poison damage, however, Typhlosion was out of the match.
"Return, Typhlosion.  Come out," Kamon said, grabbing an Ultra Ball off of his belt, "Umbreon!"  Umbreon arose from its imprisoning yellow ball, and attacke with Confuse Ray.  "Great, Umbreon.  Now, use Attract!"  Umbreon made Ivysaur fall in love with her, making it very hard for Ivysaur to attack.
"Ivysaur, use your Solarbeam attack, now!"  Ivysaur started gathering light into the bulb on its back and was preparing to attack with the most powerful Grass-type attack.
"Umbreon, Psychic!" Kamon commanded.  A blue aurora was surrounding both Ivysaur and Umbreon, and, in a flash of white light, Ivysaur took a lot of damage.
"Ivysaur, now, Solarbeam!"  Ivysaur attacked itself in its confusion, and so Solarbeam failed.  Just then, Ivysaur shook off the confusion, and evolved into Bulbasaur's final evolution, Venusaur!  "Oh my gosh," Erika said.  "You evolved for me!  Okay, then, attack Umbreon with Solarbeam!"  Venusaur gathered energy much quicker than Ivysaur did, and so Umbreon only had a short amount of time to attack.
"Umbreon, quickly!  Iron Tail, now!"  Umbreon swung her tail around, slamming it into Venusaur.  Venusaur's huge petals on his back bent forward, and then a glowing white ray on sunlight was blasted at Umbreon.  Umbreon was knocked into a wall, and was stunned for a second, giving Venusaur a chance to attack.
"Venusaur, your Hyper Beam attack!  Now!" Erika said, excited.  Venusaur shot another beam at Kamon's Dark-type Pokémon, but this time she fainted.
"No way!  Umbreon, you can rest.  Electabuzz, go!  Use your Ice Punch!" Kamon yelled.  As Electabuzz punched Venusaur, ice flew from her hand.
"Venusaur, use Earthquake!" Erika said.  Venusaur rose up so that he was just on his hind legs, and then struck the ground, making it rumble and shake.  Some of the trees fell over from the several Earthquakes that have been used.
"Electabuzz, finish it with Psychic!"  Electabuzz struck Venusaur with the psycho-kinetic blast, and finally K.O. Venusaur.
"Not another one…come back into your Pokéball, Venusaur.  You shouldn't have to fight if you are too tired," Erika said gloomily.  What IS it with her, Kamon thought.  She's a little on the strange side…  "Okay, Bellossom, you may go!"  Erika sent out yet another Grass-type Pokémon, but this one was also a bit on the strange side…It had small, pink flowers on its head and a little pink skirt type of thing also constructed from petals.  Kamon pulled out his Pokédex to see exactly what it was.  Bellossom.  The flower Pokémon.  This Pokémon produces a Sweet Scent from the flowers on its head that can make the foe let its guard down.
"Any more info., Max?" Kamon asked his Pokédex.  Bellossom is the evolved form of Gloom, who is the evolved form of Oddish.  The Pokédex then started displaying Bellossom's, Gloom's, Oddish's, and Vileplume's stats, including weight and height.  Oddly enough, Kamon found, Bellossom was smaller than Oddish.  "A Pokémon evolves twice, and gets even smaller than he started…okay…anyway, Electabuzz another Ice Punch!"  Kamon's Electabuzz hit Bellossom and made it fly into a bush.  Kamon then told Electabuzz to Thunder the bush, which not only fried the bush but also Bellossom.
"Bellossom, Sweet Scent.  Then, use a Razor Leaf."  A pink perfume type of stuff came from Bellossom, and then headed to Electabuzz.  Electabuzz staggerd around a bit before she regained her concentration.  By that time, however, sharp leaves were slicing her.
"Electabuzz, Thunder Punch them away!" Kamon yelled.  Electabuzz started punching the petals that were zooming at him, and eventually deflected all of them.  "Good job.  Now, use Fire Punch!"  Electabuzz jabbed her flaming fist at Bellossom, and knocked it out as well.
"Oh, dear.  I seem to be losing…well, I guess it's your turn, Tangela!"  Erika hurled a blue Pokéball into the grassy arena, and from it emeged a blue ball of vines with eyes coming from them.  It also had two red shoes.  Tangela reminded Kamon of the McDonalds 'fry kids' (if you don't remember, the 'fry kids' were small things that looked like balls of spahghetti, or vines, or whatever you would want to call them…Anyway, they wore shoes, and had little eyes on them, but no hands, sorta like Tangela.  If you ask me, McDonalds could sue, although the 'fry kids' sorta kinda dissapeared a while ago, around 1992 or something like that…anyway, back to the story).  "Tangela, Slam!"  Tangela slammed itself on top of Electabuzz, and knocked it out.
"That's All right.  I still have two Pokémon to beat you," Kamon said.  Just then, he remembered something: both Corsola and Golem have a double-weakness to Grass-type Pokémon.  "Oh, crap.  Uh…"  He had to think quickly.  Golem could use Fire Blast, which might knock out Tangela, but he's slow and therefore he might not be able to attack before he gets K.O.  Oh, well.  "Golem, now!  Fire Blast!"  His rocky Pokémon came out again and then spat flames at Tangela.  Kamon was surprised that Golem attacked first, but it would be his last attack.
"Tangela, Vine Whip!" Erika told her Tangela.  This must be Tangela's special attack, Kamon figured.  Several vines came from Tangela and struck Golem, critical hit and knocking it out.
"What!?  A critical hit!?" Kamon exclaimed.
"Ha, my Tangela has a Scope Lense attached to it," Erika responed.
"No…darn it…Corsola, I choose you!  Use Blizzard to finish it off!"  A snowstorm came down upon Corsola, and finished it off, winning the match for Kamon.  "Yes!!" Kamon exclaimed.  He jumped up into the air and tried to put his left arm up into the air, but, because he broke he broke his elbow, it hurt and so he out it down.
"You are remarkably strong, trainer.  I admit defeat.  I will also confer to you, this badge, the Rainbow Badge."  Erika handed the muti-colored badge to Kamon, and then he walked out from the Celedon Gym, to his next, what he hoped to be, victory.
